Amelia and Eileen didn’t immediately go to the area near the North City Gate to search for a restaurant. The Iris’s plan was still in motion, and if the zones they were responsible for only experienced a single skirmish, it might inevitably raise questions from the Iris members.
So, next, Amelia and Eileen sped up, moving through several other districts and targeting squad after squad of soldiers from the Three Kingdoms.
Under the night sky, blood blossomed repeatedly.
Amelia felt no psychological burden from this killing. After all, the people from the three kingdoms were her enemies to begin with.
After killing a sufficient number, confirming they wouldn’t be questioned by the Iris, Amelia and Eileen headed to the north of the city.
The northern part of the city seemed particularly desolate at night. Most places were empty, devoid of people.
Only in one park were there a fair number of people. They were refugees who had wandered from everywhere, their villages and towns destroyed. Forced to seek shelter in a larger city, they had come to Rhine City.
The park had a slightly better environment compared to other places, so more displaced people chose it. As time passed, the number of wanderers there gradually grew. New arrivals to Rhine City, hearing about this place, would deliberately come to seek solace among others.
Amelia only glanced at the park from a distance under the glow of the street’s gas lamps as she passed by, but didn’t approach.
She and Eileen continued weaving through the streets near the North City Gate in the north part of town. After spending some time, they finally mapped out how many restaurants were in the area.
There were over a dozen restaurants, but not a single one showed any intention of opening. Signs declaring “Closed for the short term” hung on their doors.
Rhine City barely had any foot traffic now. It was normal that the restaurants didn’t want to open for business; opening didn’t guarantee any customers. However, this wasn’t the outcome Amelia wanted to see.
“Miss Lia, what do we do? If no restaurants are open, your plan can’t proceed.”
Eileen understood that Amelia intended to make contact with Woodrow on Bread Day. But if no restaurants were open, Woodrow might not even leave the North City Wall area.

Amelia pondered for a moment, then asked Eileen, “Eileen, is that restaurant closest to the North City Gate called ‘Sunlight Whisper’?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s go there.”
“I remember that restaurant has already put up a sign saying it’s closed.”
Eileen spoke as she followed Amelia, who was already on the move.
“Sunlight Whisper is indeed closed for business. The sign on the door states it’s shut down for a month. But I noticed a light on in the upper floor of that building, which means the person in charge of this restaurant is actually present.” Amelia spoke unhurriedly.
Eileen blinked, not quite understanding Amelia’s implication.
“If they don’t want to open, then we’ll make them open. In any case, my plan must proceed.”
Amelia, with Eileen in tow, quickly arrived downstairs at the Sunlight Whisper restaurant.
It was a restaurant located at a crossroads, boasting a rather impressive storefront. Three stories total, with the first two floors for business and the third floor serving as the owner’s residence.
At that moment, on the third floor, light filtered through the curtains, shining outside.
“Go and grab everyone inside the restaurant. Remember not to hurt anyone. If someone doesn’t cooperate, knock them out first,” Amelia instructed Eileen.
Eileen nodded. She leaped, caught the third-floor windowsill, pushed the window open, and slipped inside with astonishing speed—so fast the occupants had no time to react.
Amelia waited downstairs. She didn’t hear any noise from above and nodded with satisfaction.
“As expected of Eileen. Always so reliable.”
She didn’t have to wait long before Eileen leaped out of the upstairs window and landed softly beside her.
“Miss Lia, there’s only one person in this household,” Eileen reported.
“Only one person?”
This surprised Amelia a bit. Could one person run such a large restaurant?
Or had the other staff not stayed here because the restaurant was closed for a while?
“Take me up first.”
No matter what, Amelia wanted to see the person first.
Eileen immediately stepped forward, wrapped an arm around Amelia’s waist, and jumped, smoothly landing them both inside through the third-floor window.
What greeted Amelia’s eyes was a warmly decorated bedroom. A desk covered in books, a chair with a soft cushion, a bed adorned with plush dolls, a half-open wardrobe, and a glowing wall lamp.
Amelia’s gaze swept the room before settling on the only person present.
It was a woman who looked to be in her late twenties. She had an average build but notably fair skin, with long brown hair and green eyes. She wore light-colored pajamas, looking as though she had been about to go to bed just moments before.
The woman looked at Amelia and Eileen, her eyes filled with terror, yet she stood there obediently, not daring to say more.
Eileen’s earlier arrival had already made her realize she was dealing with terrifyingly powerful Apostles. Eileen had already threatened her to behave. Understanding how fearsome Apostles could be, she naturally knew that only by obeying could she ensure her safety.
“Name,” Amelia said, looking at the woman.
“Jenny Toynbee.”
“Age.”
“Twenty-eight.”
“Are you originally from the Steele Kingdom?”
“No, I’m from the Bargas Kingdom.”
“Bargas Kingdom, then… So, what is your relationship to Sunlight Whisper?”
“I am the owner of this restaurant.”
“Since you’re the owner, you must know how to make bread, right?” Amelia looked at Jenny and offered a smile.
Seeing such a smile, Jenny’s heart fluttered with panic, yet she admitted she could indeed make bread.
“Very good. Next, you will follow my orders. If you disobey, anything could happen to you. I trust you understand my meaning?” Amelia’s eyes held a hint of danger.
Jenny hurriedly nodded.
Seeing this, Amelia turned to Eileen. “Are you certain she’s the only one here?”
Eileen confirmed decisively, “Yes, I’ve searched the rest of the place. There’s no one else.”
Since Eileen had confirmed it, Amelia trusted there were no problems. Now, they could proceed to the next step.
