Inside the Low-Crawler Colin.
Wang Yue lay flat on a makeshift operating table. Because her wounds were so numerous, she was completely unclothed, her skin slick with a layer of disinfectant.
Every inch of her body was fully exposed to Medeili. Despite the old adage that one shouldn’t be shy before a doctor, the situation felt incredibly awkward.
“Can I… put on some underwear?” Wang Yue asked, her voice calm but carrying a hint of unnatural tension.
“No!” Medeili replied with a stern face, her rejection sharp. “What are you thinking? You just underwent a sterile treatment. Lie still and don’t move!”
Internal injuries could be fixed with specific potions, such as the ‘Liver-Repairing Mystic Elixir.’ After consumption, even a liver sliced into pieces could be restored to its original state.
However, the bones were more troublesome. Shards had to be manually pieced back together before being treated with medicinal sprays to trigger healing. In some places, steel pins might even be necessary.
Medeili’s medical knowledge was limited to what she had learned in class. Furthermore, performing surgery on someone she loved placed immense psychological pressure on her. Her nerves were frayed, and her palms were slightly damp with sweat.
Fortunately, her mental fortitude was decent, and she soon managed to steady herself.
Suddenly, Wang Yue let out a small cry. “Hey, watch where you’re putting your hands!”
Medeili shot her a look, her slender fingers sinking slightly into the white flesh of Wang Yue’s thigh. “I’m just checking to see if the pork is still fresh,” she said, sounding perfectly justified.
“Eh?” Wang Yue blinked. Something felt off—why was Medeili acting so prickly? She seemed like a coiled spring, ready to snap at the slightest touch.
Wang Yue coughed to hide her inner fluster and tried to change the subject. “Your… your technique isn’t quite right. Ouch! That suture isn’t tight enough… look, it slipped. And why are the vascular forceps shaking so much? Are you trying to squash me?”
“Be quiet, Miss Gingerbread Man!”
Medeili’s temper flared. In her signature soft, sweet, and melodious voice, she snapped, “If I let you perform the surgery, you would have bled out ages ago! Don’t forget, it’s my Mystic Art that’s keeping your shower-head of a body together!”
Ah… Medeili actually talked back…
Wang Yue was slightly stunned. She had always assumed that Plum would forever be submissive in her presence, like a gentle and cute little rabbit. She hadn’t expected that after experiencing such a massive crisis, the girl would suddenly become so temperamental.
Then again, even when she was scolding someone, her voice remained soft and sweet, lacking any real intimidation. By the time she finished speaking, one almost forgot what she was even complaining about.
Medeili was indeed upset. As the surgery progressed and she peeled back layers of tissue to see the internal tears and shattered bone, she felt a hysterical impulse rising within her.
Mostly, she was angry at herself. She hated how useless she had been. If she had been more effective against the Drumming Rabbit Orchestra or Sperose, Wang Yue’s magic wouldn’t have been exhausted so quickly.
Every time she recalled Wang Yue’s final words—‘I’m useless now’—it felt like a knife twisting in her heart, leaving her cold and trembling.
After a long process of stitching, mending, and spraying medicine, the repairs were finally complete. The potions were remarkably effective; granulation tissue sprouted at the wound sites, and fresh, rosy skin grew over them. Soon, even the scars vanished.
Wang Yue gradually regained control over her body through her nerves rather than her Mystic Art. She sat up, instinctively covering her private areas.
Standing before her, Medeili rolled her eyes as she stripped off her rubber gloves. I’ve been looking at you for two hours already.
Medeili rubbed her wrists, which were red from the tight gloves, and muttered, “Do you need to rest for a bit? There are a lot of things to handle, though there’s no immediate rush. The memory restoration for the Greenhouse Girls, the investigation into the Lesser Lord’s identity… and don’t forget to claim the reward from the Explorers’ Guild. We can get quite a few Merits, hmm—”
Her voice cut off abruptly.
Wang Yue had suddenly pulled her into an embrace.
Her arms locked around Medeili’s waist to prevent any escape, her fingers interlacing tightly. Wang Yue’s demon tail wound around the girl’s soft, fragrant body, looking like a heavy sin entangling heaven itself.
The distance between them vanished instantly. As they pressed together, Wang Yue leaned in, their lips meeting in a perfect fit. Then, she began to wantonly suck on Medeili’s lips—especially that slightly full, jam-like lower lip she had been staring at for so long during the surgery.
The slightly upturned, textured cherry-pink upper lip is nice too, Wang Yue thought. Anyway, they’re both mine.
Medeili failed to react in time. With her lips sealed, she could only let out enticing, muffled moans through her nose. Her face flushed a deep crimson, her head felt like it was filling with steam, and her mind went blank.
It was only when their lips finally parted that she began to process what had happened. Her face turned bright red, the heat spreading even to the tips of her ears and her neck. She twisted her body, trying to flee!
The image in her mind wasn’t of Wang Yue, but of a jar filled with water. Right now, all she wanted was to dive into a jar of cold water and submerge herself to cool down before her brain melted from the heat.
However, the restraint around her waist held firm, refusing to let her go. She writhed in vain, letting out soft whimpers for mercy, but Wang Yue only held her tighter.
Feeling more aggrieved than ever, Medeili realized that Wang Yue was bullying her—deliberately bullying her!
“Where are you running? Weren’t you acting all high and mighty during the surgery? You were even on top of me…”
Before she could finish, Wang Yue heard two strained, desperate gasps. Plum’s head fell back, and she actually fainted from the sheer intensity!
“Ah, I might have gone a bit too far.”
Wang Yue suddenly remembered that Plum had an incredibly sensitive constitution—the kind where merely rubbing her ankles could make her beg for mercy. Too much stimulation really would make her lose consciousness.
Now it was Medeili’s turn to lie on the operating table.
Wang Yue pulled out a small vial of smelling salts, uncapped it, and waved it under Medeili’s nose.
Medeili’s chest heaved as she snapped her eyes open.
The first thing she did upon waking was clamp her knees together. Smelling the sharp ammonia of the salts, she feared she had lost control of her bladder again.
Once she confirmed that the terrifying ordeal hadn’t repeated itself, she cast a panicked glance at Wang Yue, rolled over to face the wall, and curled into a ball like a shrimp. She covered her face with her hands and refused to move.
Wang Yue cleared her throat to hide her embarrassment. She clasped her long fingers in front of her chest and lowered her head in an apologetic gesture, murmuring, “Plum… just now… I…”
She wanted to say she didn’t mean it, but then she remembered she had tasted both the lower and upper lips. Saying it wasn’t intentional would be far too shameless.
“Go out…” Medeili’s voice came from the wall, thin as a mosquito’s buzz. “Let me… be alone… for a bit…”
By the end, her voice carried a trembling plea.
Wang Yue gave a soft grunt of affirmation and left the Low-Crawler Colin, leaving Plum to herself.
Hearing the door close, Medeili breathed a sigh of relief. Her limbs relaxed, and the stiffness of her “play-dead” reflex gradually faded. She huddled closer to the wall, her forehead resting against the side of the cabin. She bit her lip, her heart a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
Wuwuwu…
I’m so useless…
I clearly like her so much…
But my heart is so scared…
My instinct is to run away…
What’s wrong with me…
She had never tasted “pork,” but she had seen it. Medeili had witnessed couples kissing before. At the time, she had been curious and pressed her own fingers against her lips, but it hadn’t felt like much—just a bit of warmth.
Thus, she had always assumed that the contact of lips was nothing special, perhaps just a formal ritual.
However, just now, the moment her lips touched Wang Yue’s and were sucked into that embrace, her cheeks had gone numb. It felt as if an electric current was surging through her, sending a strange tingling sensation down her neck and chest. Her entire body had turned to jelly; her legs had nearly given out, and her waist felt so weak it was as if she were being pulled apart.
She had been terrified, twisting to escape, only to be held firmly by that wicked arm around her waist and bullied relentlessly…
But… it was so soft. Wang Yue’s lips were so soft that they made her heart tremble. A sensation unlike anything she had ever known washed over her—a mixture of the anxiety of being completely at someone’s mercy and a continuous, overwhelming pleasure. Her head felt like it was going to turn into something strange. She had wanted Wang Yue to stop, but the words had died in her throat, replaced by ragged breaths…
As the stifling air slowly cooled, Medeili’s breathing returned to normal.
Today is a very special day, she thought.
Then, a boundless wave of exhaustion overwhelmed her. Her consciousness blurred, and she fell into a deep, heavy sleep.
