Shen Ke slumped there for a long time, so long that the paramedics took Feng Jian away.
Large patches of blood still stained the pristine white floor.
Shen Mother did not follow the ambulance. Instead, she came before Shen Ke, her eyes brimming with endless fury.
She never imagined that she would witness something like this upon her return.
Shen Ke looked up, panicked. “Mama, it wasn’t me! Mama, I didn’t push Feng Jian down. She fell on her own!”
Shen Mother looked down at Shen Ke, her eyes filled with disgust. “Shen Ke! I don’t want to see you in this house anymore.” Her own daughter, whom she had only just found, had been pushed down the stairs like that.
She had asked Shen Yi to investigate the child swap from eighteen years ago, but too much time had passed. It was hard to uncover the initial reason for the switch.
She had figured that if they couldn’t find out, so be it. After all, she had raised Shen Ke for eighteen years. There was no need to go overboard.
But today’s events were unacceptable.
Shen Ke shakily got to her feet. “Mama! It wasn’t me! Why won’t you believe me!”
Shen Mother’s brows furrowed tightly. Hearing Shen Ke’s excuses only made rage surge to her head. “Get out! Get the hell out of here! The Shen Family has no place for you anymore!”
“Before I return next time, I don’t want to see you here!”
“Mama, it really wasn’t me. Please believe me just this once!” Shen Ke pleaded. She reached out to grab Shen Mother’s hand, but the moment she did, Shen Mother slapped it away.
Shen Mother remained expressionless throughout, colder than ever before.
Even when she had come out, Shen Mother had never looked at her with eyes like that.
Shen Mother had no patience left to listen to Shen Ke. She turned to the housekeeper beside her. “Uncle Li, you know what to do.”
The housekeeper nodded respectfully.
Shen Mother left.
Staring at Shen Mother’s cold retreating back, the resentment in Shen Ke’s eyes nearly took physical form.
How could she not believe her and so arbitrarily kick her out of the house?
Shen Ke slowly clenched her fists and glared at the approaching housekeeper. “Housekeeper, you don’t believe me either?!”
The housekeeper sighed. “Third Miss, in this house, the Mistress is the master.” The implication was clear: it didn’t matter what he believed.
“Come on, Third Miss. You need to leave before Madam returns next time.”
Shen Ke let out a cold laugh. “Heh, the Shen Family’s dogs are all the same as the Shen Family people.”
The housekeeper lowered his eyes, his smile unchanging.
Shen Ke haphazardly wiped her face and went to her room to pack.
Damn Feng Jian. She should have realized back when she made Feng Jian kiss her feet that Feng Jian was a complete lunatic!
She never should have interacted with her!
Misfortunes always came one after another.
This time, no driver came to take her—probably on the housekeeper’s orders.
Dragging her suitcase, Shen Ke exited the villa complex, already exhausted.
She had only brought her favorite pieces of clothing. She couldn’t take the rest.
There wasn’t much sadness on Shen Ke’s face. More than sorrow, she felt resentment. She could no longer enjoy the Shen Family’s abundant resources.
What scared her even more was that once the Shen Family made it public, the way her schoolmates looked at her would make it impossible for her to hold her head high.
Falling from heaven into the mud was probably like this.
She didn’t know where to go next.
For her eighteenth birthday, Shen Mother and Shen Father had each given her an apartment. Now homeless, she supposed she should go there.
But she had no friends, and she didn’t want to be alone.
Shen Ke pursed her lips and took out her phone. She removed Shi Xu’s number from her blacklist.
She sent her a text.
—Can you come pick me up?
She hadn’t expected a quick reply, but the response came almost instantly.
—Where are you?!!!
Then a call came through.
Shen Ke answered, and Shi Xu’s voice came from the phone.
“Shen Ke, where are you? Wait for me! I’m taking leave right now and coming over!!!”
Hearing Shi Xu’s voice, a wave of grievance welled up inexplicably in Shen Ke’s heart. “I’ll send you my location.” Her voice was hoarse.
“You have to come find me quick.”
To Shi Xu, those words were more moving than any love confession.
After hanging up, Shi Xu bolted out of the bathroom without a second thought. She needed to take leave!!!
Shen Ke found a bench and sat down, head lowered as she stared at her toes.
She didn’t know how long she waited until she heard a breathless shout. “Shen Ke!”
Shen Ke slowly raised her head. Seeing Shi Xu drenched in sweat, her nose stung.
“Shi Xu.” The two words came out dripping with grievance.
Shi Xu reached Shen Ke and panted. “Shen Ke, what happened?”
Shen Ke tilted her face up. Her mouth opened, and sobs poured out. “I have no home anymore! I’m not the young lady anymore!”
Seeing this, Shi Xu panicked and cupped Shen Ke’s face, gently wiping away her tears with her thumb. “Don’t cry, Baby. Don’t cry.” It hurt her heart to see her like this.
The gentler Shi Xu’s comforting, the more grievances surged in Shen Ke’s heart.
Why wasn’t she a real Shen Family member? Why did Feng Jian have to show up? Why did Shen Yi have to treat her like that? Why wouldn’t Shen Mother believe her!!!
Shen Ke sniffled. “Shi Xu, I-I’m going to live with you from now on. You can’t refuse me.”
Shi Xu froze. Realizing what Shen Ke meant, she was instantly overjoyed.
Her face still bore bruises, but they were hard to see against her wheat-colored skin.
Unable to stop herself, Shi Xu grinned, eyes curving. “Okay! How could I ever refuse you!”
“Baby, don’t cry. I’ll take you home now.”
“Or are you hungry? We can grab something to eat first.”
She didn’t ask Shen Ke for the reason. Whatever it was had nothing to do with her. She even thought it was great—Shen Ke had come to her on her own!
Shen Ke frowned. She was still crying, yet Shi Xu was grinning so happily—it was infuriating. “You’re not allowed to laugh!” The words were domineering.
Shen Ke seemed to have reverted to her usual spoiled self, but it was adorable.
Shi Xu immediately stopped smiling. She took out a tissue to wipe Shen Ke’s tears clean, then grabbed the suitcase and took Shen Ke’s hand. “Baby, I won’t laugh. I’ll call a cab. Let’s go home together.”
Shen Ke let Shi Xu hold her hand. Shi Xu’s hand had calluses that chafed a bit. Normally, she would have gotten mad.
But now, held in Shi Xu’s warm hand, she didn’t feel quite so heartbroken.
Truth be told, she didn’t have much attachment to the Shen Family people. What she couldn’t bear to lose was the Shen Family’s power.
“You’re not allowed to call me Baby. We’re not back together.”
“Then when will you give me another chance?”
“Hmph, Silly Dog. Serve me well, and I’ll consider it.”
In Shen Yi’s office.
“Boss, we found him. The person tailing Third Miss is the boss of Yangshi Pharmaceutical Company.”
Shen Yi tapped her index finger lightly. “Send him abroad.”
Four months ago, Yangshi Pharmaceutical Company had been investigated for selling half-finished products, and she had pulled some strings in that. Yangshi went completely bankrupt.
Rumor had it that boss Yang Chenhe’s wife had taken the child and divorced her, while Yang Chenhe vanished under tens of millions in debt.
Someone like that would definitely resort to extreme actions.
That night, Shen Yi returned home and saw the servants with their heads bowed. She asked, “Where’s Third Miss?”
The servants exchanged glances and stammered, “Young Miss, Third Miss… Third Miss was kicked out.”
Shen Yi’s brows furrowed slightly—that was a relatively big expression for her.
“The reason.”
The servant swallowed and quietly explained the day’s events.
Shen Yi lowered her lashes slightly and walked into her room.
Feng Jian had been pushed down the stairs by Shen Ke. She didn’t believe Shen Ke would do that, but what the truth was didn’t matter.
Shen Ke being kicked out wasn’t a bad thing for her.
Someone without backing was easiest to control.
Besides, a delicate crybaby like Shen Ke wouldn’t hold out long before coming begging.
At that point, Shen Ke would have no leverage to refuse her.
She would be Shen Ke’s best option.

“Shen Ke, you sleep on my bed. I’ll take the floor.” Shi Xu’s gaze darted away, not daring to look at the freshly washed Shen Ke.
That skirt was too short and too thin. One bend over, and everything would be visible.
Her two bare legs were exposed, incredibly enticing.
Shi Xu lowered her eyes, hiding the desire rising in them. No one could share a room with the person they liked without thinking things.
Of course, Shen Ke nodded without hesitation. She looked around. They had dated for a month, but this was her first time in Shi Xu’s room. It wasn’t big—smaller than the Shen Family bathroom—but it had a lived-in feel. The small space was filled with many race car models.
Though she hadn’t pursued Shi Xu out of deep love, she couldn’t deny that the first reason was her face.
Shi Xu had deep brows and eyes that shone brightly. Her features were three-dimensional and handsome, paired with wheat-colored skin that was full of charm. In other words, Shi Xu was very sexy.
Shen Ke sat on the bed’s edge and casually asked, “Shi Xu, do you want to be a race car driver in the future?”
Shi Xu was pulling a cooling mat from the closet. It was midsummer now—a cooling mat and thin blanket were enough.
Hearing the question, Shi Xu said, “I don’t want to be a race car driver. I want to be a mechanic like my dad.”
“There’s a strange sense of satisfaction seeing the cars you’ve fixed speeding down the track.”
Shen Ke swung her legs. Shi Xu’s room surprisingly had no air conditioning, which she hadn’t expected. Feeling the heat, she had put on her thinnest nightgown.
Once the floor mat was set, Shi Xu stood. “Shen Ke, go to sleep if you’re tired. I’m going to shower.”
Shen Ke nodded and lay on Shi Xu’s bed, feeling completely enveloped by Shi Xu’s scent.
She was a bit tired today. It wasn’t long before sleepiness came.
But then strange sounds started coming from the bathroom—hoarse ones, calling her name.
Shen Ke shot up from the bed and went to the bathroom door.
She twisted the handle and went in.
The bathroom was steamy. Through the mist, she saw Shi Xu sitting on the toilet, hand busy between her legs…
Shen Ke’s face flushed completely. Meeting Shi Xu’s eyes full of desire, her whole body stiffened.
Shi Xu let out a muffled grunt and called lowly, “Shen Ke.” She had actually been jealous of Feng Jian the whole time. Why could someone she had known for just a few days climb into Shen Ke’s bed?
She had deliberately made those noises to lure Shen Ke in.
Shen Ke pursed her lips tightly, her eyes still swollen. “What are you doing!”
Shi Xu chuckled lowly. “I’m…” The last two words were soft, but Shen Ke made out the lip shape.
Jerking off.
“Baby, from the moment I saw you crying, I’ve wanted to do this with you.”
“I know you don’t want to, so I’m doing it myself.”
“I’ve been thinking about you the whole time.”
Shi Xu’s legs were long, her muscle lines beautiful.
Now spread open, full of sexual tension.
Shen Ke’s eyes widened in disbelief as she watched Shi Xu’s movements.
She walked over, gritted her teeth, and slapped Shi Xu across the face.
A crisp slap rang out. Shen Ke’s face was red to the extreme. “Shi Xu, are you a pervert?!”
Shi Xu gasped, then grabbed the hand Shen Ke had just used to slap her and pressed it to her own face. “Baby, I came.” Her eyes were full of longing for Shen Ke.
Of course it stung to be hit, but being slapped by Shen Ke was different.
She loved seeing Shen Ke’s flushed cheeks, her angry outburst, her pretty cat eyes glaring round. Everything about it was cute.
Shen Ke’s hand was soft, her strength light. The little slap carried a faint sweet fragrance, leaving only pleasure in its wake.
