Fu Enshi wasn’t really that stingy. It was just that Shen Ke messing around with the things she made and then turning the tables on her was truly infuriating.
Fu Enshi sat across from Shen Ke. Whenever Shen Ke tried to pick up food, Fu Enshi got there first with her chopsticks. After several tries, Shen Ke still hadn’t snagged a single bite.
Finally, after the sixth empty chopstick grab, Shen Ke flung her chopsticks at Fu Enshi across the table and vented her bad temper with a curse. “Fu Enshi! Stingy ghost, I hate you!”
The chopsticks clattered crisply onto the floor. Fu Enshi coolly curled her lip in a smile that didn’t reach her eyes as she stared at Shen Ke. “Who’s the one who’s detestable, exactly?”
“Did you eat my food without telling me? Were you badmouthing me to others?”
“Oh, and you like cursing me out too, huh? Shen Ke, try being reasonable for once.”
The more words Fu Enshi spat out, the redder Shen Ke’s face got. In utter embarrassment and anger, she shot back, “So what if I curse you? You deserve it!”
“You keep bringing girls back and making them leave in the middle of the night. What rumor am I spreading? It’s all true anyway.”
Early in the morning, Fu Enshi was wide awake now. She was too lazy to explain herself to Shen Ke. With a cold face, she said cuttingly, “Shen Ke, are you jealous that I keep changing partners? You’re in your mid-twenties already, and day after day, I never see you bring anyone home. Couldn’t find a girlfriend, could you? So you’re jealous of me and can’t stand the sight of me.”
Fu Enshi really knew how to push her buttons. Shen Ke couldn’t outtalk her, so not only did her face flush red, but even her ears turned crimson. Her heart felt stuffy and uncomfortable too.
Whenever she felt upset like this, Shen Ke tended to tear up. Her mouth twitched, and tears already began swirling in her eyes.
Fu Enshi was bent over picking up the chopsticks from the floor at that moment and didn’t notice.
Even as she opened her mouth, she didn’t forget to keep jabbing. “What’s this? Cat got your tongue? Did I hit a nerve?”
She set the dirty chopsticks aside. Only then did Fu Enshi look up and see Shen Ke’s pitiful, aggrieved expression. Her heart skipped a beat. Irritated, she rubbed her temple. Tsk, how did the argument escalate like this?
She wasn’t usually quick to anger—her emotions were quite stable—but Shen Ke always brought out her childish side.
She didn’t understand why Shen Ke couldn’t treat her any better.
Fu Enshi pressed her lips together. She proactively grabbed a clean pair of chopsticks for Shen Ke and said in a low voice, “Eat. I won’t say anything more about it.”
Shen Ke blinked, and tears came pattering down. “You’ve already said it. You have to apologize to me.”
Fu Enshi fell completely silent. Shen Ke was even more childish than her.
Crybaby, willful, hot-tempered.
In her eyes, this whole thing was clearly Shen Ke’s fault. Why should she apologize just because Shen Ke cried?
Fu Enshi refused to apologize. She placed the chopsticks on Shen Ke’s bowl, lowered her head, and started eating her own food.
The apartment’s soundproofing wasn’t great. Yu Zhi had heard their argument from the start. Only after the living room quieted down did she leisurely open her door and walk lightly toward the dining table.
“Miss Shen Ke, why are you crying? Did something happen?”
Shen Ke opened her teary eyes and shot a fierce glare at Fu Enshi, who was buried in her food. She sniffled, took off her glasses, wiped away her tears with a tissue, and spoke in a soft, gentle voice tinged with a sob. “N-no, nothing.”
“Yu Zhi, I’m heading back to my room first.”
Fu Enshi paused mid-bite, her mood plummeting instantly.
She shot to her feet, set down her chopsticks, and tried to keep her voice steady. “I’m full. You two eat. If you’re not going to, just throw it out.”
“I have things to do next. I’m heading out.”
Standing at the elevator, Fu Enshi watched the red numbers light up. She clenched her fingers and muttered lowly, “Why are you so gentle when talking to that Yu Zhi?”
“And I didn’t tell you not to eat. Why go back to your room?”
Fu Enshi irritably tugged at her pants. She pulled out her phone and saw that the message she’d sent—”You’re good?”—still had no reply. Her mood hit rock bottom.
Fu Enshi finally got a reply from KK after leaving the complex.
KK: Sis, you’re good!
Finally, some good news that morning—KK had replied to her! The gloom in Fu Enshi’s heart cleared to sunshine, and her face visibly brightened.
But when typing her reply, Fu Enshi hesitated again. Would “Morning, had breakfast?” be too bland?
Or “Nice, what are you up to today, KK?” No, no, that was too forward.
Fu Enshi ran through tons of possible replies in her head but ended up typing something utterly bland.
f: Morning, had breakfast?
Fu Enshi stared anxiously at the chat box and didn’t notice the person walking straight toward her.
After bumping into them, Fu Enshi looked up and apologized.
The person shook their head, their voice hoarse and grating. “No problem.”
Fu Enshi gave the person a curious glance. Wearing a fleece hoodie in the summer heat, complete with a hat. The puzzlement flashed through her mind, but Fu Enshi didn’t dwell on it and walked around them.
The person stood there for a moment before slowly turning around. They watched Fu Enshi’s back with a strange smile.
Meanwhile, Shen Ke had just finished eating. Yu Zhi proactively cleared the dishes, so Shen Ke plopped onto the sofa to keep replying to messages.
KK: Yep.
The f across from her replied slowly, but the chat showed the other side typing continuously.
It had been like that since her last message. Shen Ke had replied right after seeing the one from her Top Sis.
Sure, a night had passed, but she’d been asleep, so no reply was normal.
Staring at her own “Yep,” Shen Ke felt it was too curt. After a moment’s thought, she added an explanation.
KK: Sorry sis, I fell asleep last night so I couldn’t reply in time. You’re not mad, right?
The reply came quick this time.
f: No way! How could I be mad at KK?
KK: Good. Sis, you absolutely can’t get mad at KK. KK would be heartbroken!
f: I swear! If I ever get mad at KK one day, you can whip me.
Seeing that, Shen Ke cracked a small smile. This f wasn’t so aloof after all. How aloof could someone be who said stuff like that?
Shen Ke got into the chat and started swinging her legs absentmindedly.
KK: Sis, how old are you?
f: Nineteen this year, 178 cm tall, art major, got some pocket money, good at games.
On the other end of the screen, Fu Enshi blushed as she typed that out. Would KK think she was too eager introducing herself like this?
KK: Younger than me! Should I call you lil sis then? Though if you want me to call you sis, that’s fine too. After all, f is my Top Sis.
f: Sis is fine. Sounds, uh, nice.
Shen Ke was chatting intently, her focus entirely on her phone, and didn’t notice Yu Zhi sidling up beside her.
Yu Zhi gazed at Shen Ke’s smiling profile, her dark, deep eyes flickering faintly. She asked casually, “Miss Shen Ke, any plans for today?”
Shen Ke’s attention snapped away. She looked up from her phone at Yu Zhi’s pretty face. “Staying home to game.”
Yu Zhi smiled and didn’t press further. Her gaze drifted to Shen Ke’s swinging feet. “Miss Shen Ke, your toenails seem a bit long.”
That grabbed Shen Ke’s full attention. She set her phone down, looked at her plump toes, and frowned. “Yeah, they have grown.”
Shen Ke hated clipping her toenails—it was tiring and a hassle. She usually went to a nail salon.
The staff wore gloves to do it, so she didn’t worry about her weird condition affecting anything.
Shen Ke’s eyes landed on Yu Zhi, who was also staring at her feet. A sly glint sparkled in her pretty big eyes. Shen Ke cleared her throat seriously.
“Yu Zhi, actually, every tenant clips my toenails for me. Would you mind doing it? No big deal if not.” Total lie.
Shen Ke just figured Yu Zhi was so gentle and considerate that she’d never refuse, saving her a trip out.
It was so hot; she had zero desire to walk.
Shen Ke’s little scheme was obvious to Yu Zhi. Yu Zhi’s gaze swept over Shen Ke’s face before settling coolly on her bare feet, shoes kicked off.
Those pretty, snow-white feet rubbed together lightly right under her nose.
Pink-white toes, slender instep, faint blue veins visible.
Yu Zhi’s eyes returned to Shen Ke’s face, which looked pure to the bone. She no longer cared if the seduction was deliberate or innocent—she was hooked anyway.
Yu Zhi’s lips curved slightly. Her sharp, beautiful features bloomed into something even more stunning when she smiled, like a rose in full, decadent bloom.
Shen Ke eyed that faint smile, and a chill ran down her spine. A weird feeling flitted through her heart, leaving only a subtle aftertaste.
So strange.
Yu Zhi wasn’t some icy beauty. On the contrary, she always smiled politely and restrainedly, the curve of her lips just right—not too much, not too little. That smile softened the aggressive edge of her features, making her approachable and likable.
Shen Ke had seen that restrained smile plenty of times, but this was the first on Yu Zhi’s face. So faint, yet it laid bare the full allure of her beauty.
The smile vanished in a flash. By the time Shen Ke looked closely, Yu Zhi’s lips were composed again.
Yu Zhi lifted her eyelids slightly. Her pale pink lips parted, her magnetic voice rich with untold stories, elegant and pleasing. “Of course, my dear landlady.”
Shen Ke shook off the unease, pulled a nail clipper box from the coffee table drawer, and handed it to Yu Zhi.
“Use the biggest one.”
Yu Zhi knelt halfway on the floor, her distinctively knuckled fingers gripping the silver clippers. She looked up and said softly, “Pardon the intrusion, Miss Shen Ke.”
Shen Ke nodded, completely forgetting her condition. She even lifted her foot proactively. “Yu Zhi, be careful not to nick the skin.”
Shen Ke showered daily, moisturized, and wore slippers at home—her feet definitely smelled nice.
Shen Ke wiggled her toes. Seeing Yu Zhi with her head down, motionless, she inexplicably felt her instep heat up. Her voice rose a bit. “Yu Zhi, why are you just sitting there?”
Yu Zhi’s long lashes trembled faintly. Her brazen gaze stayed fixed on Shen Ke’s feet.
Shen Ke’s face was beautiful, her hands beautiful, her back beautiful—but she hadn’t expected even her feet to be this gorgeous.
Bony yet slender, snow-white, exquisitely perfect down to every toe.
It made one want to kiss them lightly, lick them, cradle them in hand and toy with them.
Yu Zhi didn’t reply. Instead, she reached out with slender fingers and gripped the entire sole upward.
The instant their skin touched, Yu Zhi clearly felt the body under her palm tremble.
Yu Zhi narrowed her eyes and placed the foot on her knee. Her fingers slid up, grasping the slender ankle completely in her palm.
Shen Ke clutched the sofa cushion tightly. Yu Zhi’s palm was covered in calluses, chafing her skin until it tingled and itched.
Combined with her condition, Shen Ke’s toes curled involuntarily. Her voice turned sticky and mushy. “Yu-Yu Zhi, never mind. I’ll do it myself.”
She couldn’t quite describe the sensation, but touch from others sent a wave of pleasure and craving rising from deep inside, muddling her mind.
Yu Zhi’s fingers tightened slightly on Shen Ke’s ankle, pressing even closer to her skin.
Shen Ke’s ankle was so delicate—like she could control the whole person just like this.
Yu Zhi’s voice was flat. “Miss Shen Ke, spread your toes. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee I won’t nick your skin.”
Click.
The crisp snip of the clippers rang out. Shen Ke’s eyes widened in shock. She tensed up, not daring to move.
It was faint, but Shen Ke felt fear toward the head-down Yu Zhi. She didn’t dare say another word.
She craved skin contact yet resisted it. Her little face flushed deep red.
Shen Ke pressed her lips tight, afraid she’d let slip something lewd.
As time dragged on, her eyes grew wet, her lips swollen from her own biting. She fought hard to suppress the craving inside.
A light sheen of sweat beaded on her forehead.
It felt so good, being touched.
Yu Zhi slowly finished one foot but didn’t let go right away. Instead, she trailed her fingers lightly up the instep. “Miss Shen Ke, your feet are beautifully made.”
The rough pad of her finger rubbed against the soft skin. Shen Ke never imagined she was so sensitive. She couldn’t hold back her panting any longer. “Ha, no, don’t clip it anymore.”
Yu Zhi, however, gripped Shen Ke’s entire calf with her other hand and lifted her face. A hint of a smile played on her pale features. “This won’t do. Once something starts, it has to be finished.”
“To wrap it up perfectly.”
Seeing Shen Ke like this, Yu Zhi’s gaze grew especially profound. Her magnetic voice rose and fell, as if she were excited. “When I work, what I love most is the finishing touch.”
Shen Ke looked down at Yu Zhi and felt that those black eyes were unnervingly intense, as if she were completely exposed under Yu Zhi’s gaze.
Shen Ke couldn’t help but want to pull back, but her calf was held firmly in Yu Zhi’s hand, and sitting on the sofa as she was, she had nowhere to retreat.
Shen Ke turned her head away, avoiding Yu Zhi’s line of sight. She didn’t want Yu Zhi to see the fear in her eyes. “Th-then hurry up.” Little did she know, the trembling in her voice betrayed her completely.
Yu Zhi’s gaze slid from Shen Ke’s slender neck to her heaving chest, then to the calf in her hand. That gaze was so thick and heavy, like a damp, venomous snake slithering over her skin, leaving a sticky, clammy sensation in its wake.
Yu Zhi said softly, “Miss Shen Ke, your body is trembling.”
“Is it because you’re sick… or are you afraid? Afraid that I’ll eat you up?”
Shen Ke’s breath hitched as goosebumps spread from her calf. Her words came out stammering. “I-I’m just… just hot. Hurry up and it’ll be fine.”
Yu Zhi released Shen Ke’s calf. Faint fingerprints had already appeared on the skin. Yu Zhi’s gaze lingered there for a moment before she picked up the other foot and let out a light chuckle.
Shen Ke was all too familiar with that laugh. Her heart suddenly relaxed. She turned her head back to look at Yu Zhi, meeting that smiling face.
A polite, restrained, elegant smile.
The atmosphere returned to normal, as if everything before had been an illusion.
Yu Zhi said, “Miss Shen Ke, you seem to really resist my touch.”
“Click.”
Shen Ke wondered if it was because of her strange condition that she’d felt that weird vibe earlier.
The comfortable sensation of skin against skin had made her brain fuzzy, leading to the illusion.
Shen Ke watched the top of Yu Zhi’s dark hair. After Yu Zhi finished clipping another nail, Shen Ke suddenly kicked her foot. Her toes poked right into Yu Zhi’s lips.
Shen Ke hadn’t expected that. She’d only wanted to give Yu Zhi a little kick to see if she’d get mad, but she’d ended up hitting her lips instead.
Biting her lip, Shen Ke looked up with damp, teary eyes and said softly, “Sorry.”
Yu Zhi said lightly, “It’s fine.” Then she gripped Shen Ke’s foot again and continued trimming the nails.
Still so gentle and considerate. It seemed that strange atmosphere earlier had truly been her imagination.
Shen Ke thought so. The prolonged touching felt incredibly good, but the more it did, the more she craved even more contact.
As Yu Zhi’s palm glided over the sole of her foot, Shen Ke let out a moan—charming and sweet, like the perfect aphrodisiac for desire.
Yu Zhi seemed unaffected. After trimming all of Shen Ke’s toenails, she stood up, brushed off her clothes, and stared at Shen Ke lounging on the sofa. She said calmly, “Miss Shen Ke, wait a moment. Your nail clippers aren’t very good. I’ll go get mine from my room.”
No longer being touched, Shen Ke let out a huge sigh of relief. She was afraid that if it went on, she’d end up pouncing on Yu Zhi.
Shen Ke nodded lightly and breathed heavily. Yu Zhi had clearly heard that weird sound from her earlier, yet she hadn’t asked anything or said a word. She really was so gentle and considerate.
Yu Zhi returned to her room and completely schooled her expression. She touched her lips—the same lips that had just brushed against Shen Ke’s toes. She could still feel that sensation. Yu Zhi opened her toolbox and sprinkled some powder onto the small blade.
The landlady miss had gone and seduced her, so she had to take responsibility. She couldn’t be scared off like a little rabbit just from seeing a glimpse of Yu Zhi’s true self. How else could they continue?
Shen Ke sat on the sofa. When Yu Zhi knelt on one knee in front of her again, she proactively extended her foot. After a short rest, her body didn’t feel as agitated anymore, so Shen Ke wanted to enjoy the touching sensation a bit longer.
She could always pull away if it got too much. It really felt so good—like her whole body and soul were wrapped in some inexplicable pleasure.
Shen Ke felt there was nothing wrong with her thinking. Little did she know, once desire found an outlet, it would only grow and snowball.
As her nails were gently filed, Shen Ke gradually felt a wave of drowsiness. Her consciousness slowly faded away.
