Chapter 99: The Risqué Streamer in the Shared Apartment (Part 16)

When Fu Enshi finished paying and walked out, Shen Ke was already nowhere to be seen.

It had only been a short while.

A heap of frustration piled up in Fu Enshi’s heart. She really needed to change her habit of speaking without thinking.

Fu Enshi clutched Shen Ke’s little purse tightly and hurried home.

Shen Ke was so lazy that she would probably head straight home. At the same time, Fu Enshi kept dialing Shen Ke’s number on her phone nonstop.

She had to explain properly. She hadn’t meant to say those words.

She had no idea that KK was Shen Ke.

Fu Enshi’s heart burned with anxiety. She was truly afraid that the longer this dragged on, the angrier Shen Ke would get.

After storming out of the coffee shop in a huff, Shen Ke didn’t head home. Instead, she went to a nearby mall. She remembered that Yu Zhi’s birthday was coming up.

She didn’t know Yu Zhi all that well, but Yu Zhi liked wearing shirts, so Shen Ke browsed carefully and picked out a pair of cufflinks at the Treasure Shop.

With the gift bag in hand, Shen Ke left the mall and started walking back.

Shen Ke was so beautiful that people along the way couldn’t help turning their heads to look. Shen Ke lifted her chin slightly, letting them stare openly.

Though she had been furious at Fu Enshi’s words at the time, Shen Ke got over it quickly. After all, plenty of people liked her anyway.

The summer heat was intense, and the evening was unbearably muggy. Fine beads of sweat gradually formed on Shen Ke’s forehead.

It was so hot. Shen Ke walked until she grew tired and sat down on a long bench to rest.

She hadn’t rested for long when a shadow fell over her from above. Shen Ke looked up.

It was a middle-aged woman in a qipao, around forty years old. Her face looked young, but the fine lines at the corners of her eyes and her world-weary gaze revealed that she wasn’t truly young.

Shen Ke frowned and asked, “What do you want?”

The woman’s gaze swept coolly over Shen Ke, carrying a strong sense of pressure.

Shen Ke felt extremely uncomfortable. This woman seemed somewhat familiar, like someone she had seen before, but she couldn’t recall where right away.

Shen Ke stood up, intending to leave, but the moment she rose, the woman said coldly, “Shen Ke.”

Shen Ke froze. This person knew her name?

She turned to face the woman, her tone unpleasant. “Who are you? Do I know you?”

The woman raised her hand slightly, and several figures immediately surged forward, blocking Shen Ke in completely.

Shen Ke’s eyes widened as she realized something was wrong. But the moment she opened her mouth, a white cloth came from behind and covered her mouth and nose.

Shen Ke’s eyes gradually grew dazed before slowly closing. Her arms dropped, and the gift box fell to the ground.

The woman looked at the unconscious Shen Ke and instructed calmly, “Make it look as natural as possible.”

Meanwhile, Fu Enshi was frantically searching for Shen Ke at home.

No one answered her calls, and no one was home.

Fu Enshi collapsed on the sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling. It was almost evening now. Where could Shen Ke be?

Fu Enshi irritably ruffled her own hair into a mess, filled with regret.

Was she a Stupid Bastard? She got angry so easily. She knew Shen Ke was like a firecracker that exploded at the slightest spark. Could she not have just held her tongue?

Time ticked toward seven o’clock. The door opened, and Fu Enshi jerked her head up. When she saw it was only Yu Zhi, her body felt as if it had plunged into an ice cellar.

Fu Enshi’s lips trembled. “Yu Zhi, could you, could you call Shen Ke?”

Yu Zhi’s gaze darkened slightly. She didn’t ask why and simply pulled out her phone to dial Shen Ke’s number.

“The number you have dialed is powered off. Please try again later…”

The message rang clearly through the living room. Yu Zhi set the groceries she had brought back on the dining table, then headed to Shen Ke’s room.

After searching the room and not finding the Jade Buddha, Yu Zhi said, “No need to worry too much.” That ghost would surely find Shen Ke.

Yu Zhi’s words sounded casual, almost offhand.

How could Fu Enshi not worry? It was all because of her that something had happened to Shen Ke.

“You don’t care about her, so of course you don’t need to worry,” Fu Enshi said coldly, her voice a little hoarse.

She knew she was lashing out unfairly, but Yu Zhi’s indifferent tone made her angry.

Yu Zhi ignored Fu Enshi. She had no interest in wasting time on someone she barely knew.

There was only one person left on her list, someone who had once worked for that person in the Blood Organization.

To have survived that person meant they were probably quite capable.

And now, that person was inside the organization.

That ghost’s presence was too much of an eyesore.

Yu Zhi closed Shen Ke’s bedroom door and curved her lips into a distant smile. “Miss Fu, instead of blaming me here, why not go look for her outside?”

Fu Enshi’s eyes were red-rimmed. She said gravely, “Do you think I haven’t looked already?”

She had searched the nearby area after failing to find anyone in the rooms, but there had been no sign of Shen Ke.

It actually hadn’t been that long since Shen Ke disappeared.

But Fu Enshi just knew something had happened to her.

Only now did Fu Enshi realize how insignificant one person’s power was.

Night had fallen deep, and Shen Ke still hadn’t returned.

Fu Enshi’s eyes were red and bloodshot, her face exhausted. She was still wearing the black dress from earlier that day.

Fu Enshi regretted countless times why she had argued with Shen Ke.

She hadn’t wanted to say those things. She didn’t hate Shen Ke at all.

On the contrary, she liked her to death.

She had always been blind to her own feelings, thinking she liked KK. But now that she thought about it, she only liked KK because her lips resembled Shen Ke’s.

From the very beginning, she had only liked Shen Ke.

With trembling hands, Fu Enshi dialed a number.

The moment the call connected, Fu Enshi called out hesitantly, “Mom, could you please help me find someone?”

“I’ll study hard from now on on how to manage the family business.”

The voice on the other end was chillingly cold. “Fu Enshi, after raising you this long, you’ve gone off to play with women instead.”

With just that one sentence, Fu Enshi guessed it: Shen Ke had been taken by her mom.

Fu Enshi’s breathing quickened. “Mom, was it you? Did you take her?”

“Don’t hurt her. She’s timid and delicate. She cries annoyingly when upset. Don’t hurt her.”

Beep, beep, beep…

The line went dead. Fu Enshi couldn’t sleep at all. She knew what kind of place that was—a place that devoured people.

Fu Enshi gritted her teeth, threw on a coat, and left in the middle of the night. She had to go back—

Meanwhile, Shen Ke had just opened her mouth and bitten off half a Little Bear Biscuit.

One cheek puffed out.

Fu Ennian looked curiously at Shen Ke’s bulging cheek and grinned. “Shen Ke, your face is so small, yet you can puff it out like that.” She pushed the remaining Little Bear Biscuits toward Shen Ke. “Don’t rush; there’s more.”

Shen Ke huffed and turned her head away, ignoring Fu Ennian.

It turned out the one who kidnapped her was Fu Enshi’s family member.

No wonder she seemed familiar. Fu Enshi shared a striking resemblance in facial features with her mom and sister.

Fu Ye looked at Shen Ke and Fu Ennian, then said flatly, “Ennian, take her to rest.”

Shen Ke shook her head and swallowed the biscuit. “No, I’m not going to sleep.”

“What if I fall asleep and can’t wake up?”

Fu Ennian touched her chin. “Fair point. Who knows, by the time you wake up, you might be missing a finger or two.” Fu Ennian said it like a joke.

But Shen Ke felt this person was dead serious.

Shen Ke lowered her head, finished the other half of the biscuit, then went behind Fu Ye and tugged at the hem of her clothes. “I’ll stay right here with you.”

Fu Ye frowned, deep lines forming between her brows. She didn’t push Shen Ke away, however. Instead, she said, “Fine.”

Fu Ennian raised an eyebrow, her smile even brighter. “As expected of the person Sister likes. Even Mom is tolerant of her.” If it had been anyone else running into Mom, they probably wouldn’t have all their fingers anymore.

Fu Enshi was the Siberian Husky that had bounded out of their pack of wolves.

Yapping about pursuing art and running off—what else could that be but a Stupid Bastard?

And now she had gotten involved with a woman. Though this Shen Ke was indeed beautiful.

“After thinking about it so long, I still think tossing her into the sea would be best.”

“That way, Sister would have to grow up out of hatred.”

Shen Ke’s body trembled slightly. She glared viciously at Fu Ennian, then quickly ducked her head behind Fu Ye. She hated this Fu Ennian— even more than Fu Enshi.

Always threatening her like that.

Fu Ye’s gaze swept indifferently over Fu Ennian. “The batch of Hermal goods will pass through C District Port tomorrow. Pick a few people to handle it.”

Fu Ennian smiled, her peripheral vision glancing at Shen Ke hiding behind Fu Ye. “Pretty sister, I hope we meet again tomorrow.” She hoped Mom wouldn’t get so angry tonight that she crippled the girl.

Fu Ennian left. Shen Ke released Fu Ye’s hem and plopped down on the sofa.

She didn’t act like a guest at all. The room was classically decorated in an antique style—simple, yet one glance revealed its extravagance.

Shen Ke sank into the soft sofa. Little Kids like Fu Ennian were the most annoying. Fu Ye seemed mature and steady, unlikely to joke around casually.

That was why Shen Ke chose to stay by Fu Ye’s side.

Shen Ke rubbed her eyes, let out a small yawn, and her eyes misted with tears, becoming watery.

“Will you let me go back?”

Fu Ye looked up at Shen Ke. “Yes.”

“You don’t seem afraid that I’ll hurt you.”

Shen Ke lay on the sofa, squinting her eyes lazily like a Little Cat. “If you wanted to hurt me, you’d have locked me in a dark room for sure.”

“Why bring me along instead?”

She had been scared at first, after all—suddenly kidnapped like that.

But once she arrived here, with good food and drink and people waiting on her, Shen Ke relaxed instantly.

There was no sound from Fu Ye for a moment. Shen Ke rolled over, turning her back to Fu Ye. Her long legs and perky hips made even her back view striking.

This young woman truly had the qualities to make Fu Enshi fall for her.

Even breathing sounds came from beside her ears. Fu Ye set down her brush after finishing the last stroke on the white paper.

Calm the mind and steady the spirit—

She placed the brush away, and a wave of chilling spiritual energy instantly swept through the space.

Fu Ye’s voice carried a natural huskiness, thick with the weight of history. She spoke slowly and elegantly, without inflection. “I don’t recall killing anyone recently.”

Song Lan lay atop Shen Ke and slowly materialized, her long hair draping down to cover Shen Ke. Her pupils had no whites, her lips were blood-red, her cheeks deathly pale, and black qi swirled around her. The black qi was thick as liquid water, churning with yin-sha aura—eerie and terrifyingly beautiful.

Fu Ye sighed. “Li Taoist’s cultivation has regressed quite a bit if even a ghost can barge in.”

Song Lan let out a low, sinister hiss. “Don’t you dare hurt her—” It sounded like hundreds or thousands of voices overlapping, piercingly shrill.

Fu Ye clasped her hands behind her back, her voice flat. “So ghosts can be affectionate too.”

“My eldest daughter might not be able to compete with you.”

Blood tears dripped from Song Lan’s eyes. The place was filled with formations and talisman paper. Forcing her way in had already damaged her soul.

And the person before her had far more killing intent than even Yu Zhi. She couldn’t get close at all.

Too dangerous.

Shen Ke couldn’t stay here. Song Lan’s ghostly qi wrapped tightly around Shen Ke. Not only did her eyes start bleeding, but her nose began to bleed too.

She looked even more horrifying.

The yin-cold aura kept dropping, turning the entire space into an ice cellar.

Shen Ke slept deeply but sensed the cold, frowning uneasily.

Fu Ye pulled open a drawer and slowly took out a gun, aiming it at Shen Ke. “Let’s play a little game. If you block this shot, you can take her away.”

“If you don’t, this bullet will go through that kid’s head.” To Fu Ye, Shen Ke really was just a kid.

There was never any emotion in Fu Ye’s eyes. “3, 2…” Before she could fire, agony exploded in her wrist.

A deathly pale hand had somehow gripped her wrist, sharp nails digging into her flesh.

Song Lan ground her teeth. “Old hag, you think you’re tough?!” She wouldn’t let anyone hurt Shen Ke—

In every world, there was such a type of character. They bullied the protagonist, framed the protagonist, and kept courting death right in front of the protagonist. Shen Ke had to play these roles. [World One: The Fake Young Lady in a Wealthy Family] Shen Ke was the fake young lady who had taken someone else's identity. Later, the real young lady was found back, and everyone pitied the real young lady. Shen Ke grew jealous of her and frantically framed her until one day the truth came out. Everyone's gazes turned to her. Shen Ke was chased out of the Shen Family. However, what no one expected was that those heavenly daughters, who should have despised her to the extreme, lowered their proud heads and begged her to return. [World Two: The Little Follower in an Aristocratic School] Tesiya Aristocratic School had four top figures, and Shen Ke was the Little Follower of one of them. Every day, she bullied others using that person's power. Seeing those people seemingly intimidated by her and not daring to look at her, Shen Ke grew even more smug. Little did she know, those people were simply charmed by her cuteness and harbored dark fantasies in secret. But because of those four people's statuses, they didn't dare to act too much. Shen Ke had no idea about this. Every day, she strutted around like a proud little rooster until one day, a Special Admission Student slammed her hard onto the ground. Shen Ke burst into tears. The Special Admission Student panicked and held her in her arms, coaxing, "Don't cry. I didn't mean to. How about you hit me back?" [World Three: The Social Butterfly in the Slums] Shen Ke came from a poor family. Her father was in prison, and her mother had died early. She was forced to grow up quickly and smiled at everyone, becoming the social butterfly everyone despised. Shen Ke had been jealous of her childhood sweetheart since childhood. They both lived in the slums, but her childhood sweetheart had loving parents and later found a rich partner. Shen Ke came up with a scheme. She seduced her childhood sweetheart's partner and used her to enter the upper circles. Everyone in the upper circles knew Shen Ke, the little social butterfly from the slums. They verbally expressed disdain for her, but in private, they fought each other to the death over this little social butterfly. Her childhood sweetheart, whose partner she had seduced, pinned her in a corner and kissed her ear. "Keke, I've been waiting so long for you to come. Why didn't you come seduce me?" [World Four: The Stupid Bastard in the Apocalypse Who Killed Her Wife and Abandoned Her Child] The apocalypse arrived. To survive, Shen Ke pushed her wife into a zombie horde and then abandoned her seven-year-old child. She latched onto an Ability User and was brought back to the base. However, the moment she saw the base leader, Shen Ke's face turned pale. That leader was none other than the wife she had killed. The moment the leader grabbed her by the neck, Shen Ke cried uncontrollably. "Please, let me go." But the leader chuckled softly. "Let you go? I'm afraid not. Someone as wicked as you is only suited to be locked in bed for life." [World Five: The Lawless Dandy Eldest Miss.] There was a famous dandy in Upper Yan City: the Eldest Miss of the Prime Minister's Mansion, Shen Ke. That Shen Ke bullied men and dominated women, committing all kinds of evil, until one day the Prime Minister's Mansion was raided. The woman Shen Ke had forcibly taken as a wife turned out to be the exiled Imperial Princess. The Shen Family's crimes piled up even higher. Shen Ke could only plead tearfully with those people she had previously looked down on. Those people had originally despised Shen Ke to the extreme, but in the instant those teary eyes looked over, a different kind of thought arose in their hearts. "Want me to help you? Sure, become my bed warmer."
