“Dragon egg, dragon egg, dragon egg…”
Andrea’s face twisted into a dizzy whirl. She suddenly realized her expression might come off as rude, so she scratched her head with a sheepish laugh.
“Eh, someday if I could lay an egg of my own… I’m so jealous of you!”
Xuefei felt a headache coming on at the question.
Leaving aside whether this Fallen Angel could even produce an egg in the first place—what was truly infuriating was how vastly different she was between the Second Playthrough and the First. Right now, she seemed like a delicate girl who’d cry for an entire day after taking a single punch. Though Xuefei still had no idea why this creature could pass as queen of the Fallen Wing Clan, the version of her from the First Playthrough might hold all the answers.
“Better not. Are you oviparous?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“…”
Xuefei froze on the spot, words failing her.
What in the world…
Were the Wing Clan an egg-laying race?
No, no—that couldn’t be right. Sure, she’d always imagined them as something like angels, but these people clearly weren’t the humans with snowy white wings on their backs that she’d pictured. They were more like birds that had sprouted human bodies!
Yet no matter how she looked at Andrea’s figure, Xuefei couldn’t picture her as a bird. Though that one time, out on a stroll, she’d run into those anthropomorphic crows… and they’d been almost identical to the Andrea standing before her now.
“It’s nothing,” Xuefei said, crossing her legs. She had no idea what to say next. All she could do was sigh in quiet emotion.
“Oh, right—Xuefei!” Andrea beamed, positively glowing with excitement. “When it comes to laying eggs, you’re like my big sis. Tell me, what does it feel like, stage by stage? I mean, I don’t even have anyone I’m chasing yet, but I’m still so looking forward to it. Yeah—super looking forward to it!”
“The feeling, huh…”
Xuefei’s gaze drifted up to the ceiling, grappling with how to put this indescribable sensation into words.
But to uphold the dignity of the Dragon Clan, she put on her most solemn face and explained:
“Nothing special on a normal day. It just feels like there’s a ball of fire in your belly—well, not exactly fire. More like a buildup of energy. That’s the first sign that a child is on the way. Once your belly starts showing a slight swell, you’ll get super sleepy. Your [Obsession] with the child and your partner grows stronger and stronger. Then, after you finally lay the egg, there’s a several-month incubation period. That’s when a mother’s love and constant presence are needed to bring forth a perfect baby.”
“Wooow!”
Andrea pumped a tiny fist, her eyes wide with shock.
She could hardly believe how experienced Xuefei sounded. It made her want to rush out and find a partner right that instant. Little stars sparkled even brighter in her eyes, and in that moment, she became one of Xuefei’s most devoted fangirls.
Xuefei’s heart swelled at the reaction.
Ahh, finally—someone who recognized her appeal! A fierce woman truly shone brightest in her most earnest moments. She didn’t need the Evil Dragon’s flames or anything dramatic like that. Look how easily she’d reeled in this adorable little admirer.
…Even if it was the very same one who’d beaten her black and blue in the First Playthrough.
Andrea plopped down beside Xuefei on the white chair. Spotting the scene, one of the maids hurried over with a crystal-clear goblet. She filled it with refreshing, delectable wine that carried a pleasant aroma, then bowed her head slightly and withdrew.
“Xuefei, does that mean you’ll be laying an egg in two months?”
“Less than three, probably. Why? You that curious, Andrea?”
“Mhm. Because…” Andrea’s cheeks flushed bright red.
“See, where I’m from, it’s a huge difference when girls have kids with other girls, compared to guy-girl couples. So I wanted to pick your brain about it.”
Xuefei went rigid. Another tough one.
Since time immemorial—setting aside the enigmatic Domain of Dark Filth—there had only ever been one Evil Dragon across all worlds. Any birthing she’d done involved entanglements with other Dark Filth, never a union between two dragons.
This wasn’t just the Evil Dragon’s first time. It was the first instance in history of a female Evil Dragon giving birth. There was virtually no precedent to draw from.
But…
That wasn’t what concerned Xuefei. It was something else entirely about Andrea.
“You… you like girls?”
“Yep?”
“You want to have kids with a girl? Want to get pregnant with her child?”
Was everyone in this world just a girl in her contacts? Girl-on-girl reproduction already defied the laws of biology—not that the Camiran Continent played by those rules anyway.
Still…
Were feelings between girls really that normal here?
Not that her bond with Leia was anything less valid. It was just another sigh-worthy moment of realization.
But when Xuefei recalled her experiences from her human days, she ultimately arrived at an inevitable conclusion:
Dark Filth was an utterly free collective.
And the reason why? It had to be that so-called freedom of emotion.
“Of course!”
Andrea’s response was just as Xuefei had anticipated. Her gaze grew evasive, her expression a mix of nervousness and something oddly peculiar. She took a sip of red wine, her cheeks flushing redder than a ripe apple.
“Turning into a cute little wife is such a wonderful thing, isn’t it? Doing all those naughty things with the person you love, then—by some perfect twist of fate—getting pregnant with the fruit of your shared love, sealing it all with vows of eternal devotion… It’s just too perfect!”
“But wouldn’t it be even better to get the other person pregnant?” Xuefei countered weakly. She immediately locked eyes with the nearly intoxicated Andrea, who responded with utmost seriousness and gravity:
“Whose belly carries the child is incredibly important. It has to be you who gets pregnant!”
“Ah… I-is that so?”
“Yes, yes! Xuefei, do you know? Carrying the child means most of its power comes from you. And if you incubate it like an egg, then the bulk of its emotional and familial bonds come from you too. Plus, nurturing the fruit of your love—isn’t that a romantic act so breathtaking it leaves you breathless?”
A romantic act so breathtaking it left one breathless…
Xuefei lowered her gaze, stroking her chin thoughtfully. But suddenly, she rested her hand on her slightly rounded belly, a warm feeling blooming within her.
Not just in her belly…
She had always believed that love was at its best when she held the reins, taking the lead.
Yet Andrea’s words opened her eyes to so much more. Wasn’t the one who bore the pregnancy the true embodiment of love? It elevated romance to an even higher plane.
Gazing at Andrea’s impassioned face—while ignoring the cute maids who blushed and stole furtive glances their way—a bold new idea began to infiltrate Xuefei’s innocent mind.
Ah… so that’s how it is.
Carrying the other’s child was something so joyful, so deeply enviable.
That must be why Leia had chosen to let herself get pregnant.
