Chapter 8: 8. Countdown

“Is this the story of what happened to Leia in the human world?”

“Yeah~ Of course, my morning was pretty interesting too.”

Leia led the way, with Xuefei following close behind. The latter wrapped her limbs tightly around the Evil Dragon’s body, providing Leia with the warmth she had always dreamed of.

But even that grew tiring after a while, so Leia shifted her position.

Her slender arms were encased in black silk long gloves that contrasted sharply with her fair skin. Leia clung to Xuefei’s arms, facing her directly while hugging her willow-slim waist.

Xuefei’s body was equally alluring, though slightly less voluptuous than Leia’s. Yet it was no less breathtakingly beautiful. Unlike the seductive allure of a rose, hers evoked the pure, innocent charm of a lily.

By now, Xuefei had changed into a white dress that made her look as if she were blanketed in fresh snow from head to toe. Her skin was so delicate it seemed it might break at the lightest touch. Leia could clearly feel the warmth radiating from Xuefei’s feverish body, along with an enchanting fresh fragrance that begged one to linger.

“Girls really are the best, hmm~”

“But I am a girl, aren’t I?”

“Exactly. Otherwise, how could you bear little babies for me? You have to keep our promise tonight, okay?”

“Yeah,” Xuefei nodded happily.

With that, Leia began recounting her experiences from that morning.

The human world had been stirring with unease that morning. The descent of the Evil Dragon had thrown the human realm into chaos. They were desperate to select the strongest among them to subjugate the two legendary and immensely threatening Evil Dragons. One god named Pepir was searching for a hero.

He had stood atop a tower when a bolt of red lightning struck him, reducing him to flying ash. The remnants of his power rose into the sky, becoming nourishment for the Evil Dragon lurking amid the dark clouds.

The god had been defeated once more.

Ever since Leia devoured the god and Evil Dragon tasked with overseeing this world, every deity confident in their own power had come flocking. But they all met the same fate: eaten by Leia, transformed into yet more sustenance to nourish her.

Xuefei adored Leia’s stories.

“Gods want us dead, don’t they? How hateful! We have to wipe them all out!”

“Of course,” Leia replied earnestly. She was immensely pleased with Xuefei’s response and planted a kiss on her forehead. “They see us as ‘chaos’—abominations that shouldn’t exist in this world and must be set right. Heehee, you’ll protect me, won’t you, Xuefei? What would I do if a hero killed me someday?”

“That’s absolutely not happening!”

Xuefei refused to even entertain the idea of Leia’s death.

Though just the mention of Leia stirred something deep within her heart.

In truth, the Evil Dragon Palace wasn’t all that busy. Leia rarely needed to take action herself. Thanks to her presence, the Demons of the world had grown to unprecedented strength. Any human who encountered them faced certain death. These days, humans could barely sustain themselves by battling uncontrolled Demon spawn.

As a result, Leia had little to do beyond approving the occasional document. The rest of her time was spent in loving conversation with Xuefei.

There was nothing wrong with that—in fact, it didn’t waste a single moment.

After all, she was immortal now. Barring any accidents, her consciousness would endure forever in this world. She could even take Xuefei traveling to other realms.

If anyone was to blame, it was that arrogant god who had tried to use her for his own ends…

And so, the afternoon passed in a haze of sweet nothings between the two.

In the afternoon, Little Xuefei yawned as she woke, inhaling the mingled honeyed-jujube scent in the air. When she opened her eyes, Leia—now dressed in a gorgeous black gown—had been waiting patiently.

She sat on the edge of the bed, her silver-white hair gleaming like a brilliant galaxy under the sunlight, as if crafted from the world’s most priceless jewels. In truth, any single strand was worth more than all the treasures on earth.

“Awake at last, Xuefei?” Leia’s voice was as gentle as a clear mountain stream.

“Yeah. Naps really are the best.”

Xuefei explained that after a nap, sunset was just around the corner—which meant bedtime again. It was pure bliss!

Perhaps that was why the joy doubled.

And today was special, because Leia had promised that come evening, they could…

“Shall we go pick flowers?” Leia suggested. She had nothing pressing that afternoon, and the weather outside was lovely, with flowers blooming in abundance.

“Sure! I hear this year’s blossoms are especially beautiful.”

Xuefei quickly changed and off they went.

The Evil Dragon Palace was an enormous black edifice, exuding an aura of dread and terror. Its interior was a labyrinth of layered structures, like a three-dimensional maze. At the pinnacle lay the sacred sanctuary where Leia and Xuefei rested and relaxed.

No one was permitted to enter.

It was the ultimate challenge ground that every adventurer dreaded—a true nightmare, the final lair for battling the boss.

Yet that didn’t mean the palace grounds lacked beauty.

Vibrant flower beds bloomed in every color, exquisite stone fountains sparkled, and a gentle breeze swept across the manicured gardens, sending ripples through the grass and carrying the fresh scent of damp earth.

This was nothing like the original twisted, eerie branches and cawing crows. Xuefei had remade it all to her own tastes during the Second Playthrough.

Leia strolled along with a basket hooked over her arm, brimming with fragrant blossoms. In that moment, she looked every bit the ethereal elf, untouched by worldly cares.

“Leia, check this out.”

“Hm? What is it?”

Suddenly, Xuefei burst from a cluster of tall shrubs like an excited squirrel. She shook the leaves from her clothes and pulled a delicate flower crown from behind her back.

“For you, Leia.”

“Oh! I’m so happy. Xuefei really is my best little treasure!”

Leia flung herself at Xuefei, heedlessly dropping her basket to the ground. The flowers she’d gathered for nearly an hour scattered across the dirt, a sight that tugged at the heart.

But it seemed even those dazzling blooms paled in comparison to Xuefei herself.

Once the flower crown rested atop Leia’s head, the Evil Dragon Leia let out an exhilarated laugh, her cheeks blooming pink. Right then, she was happier than anyone in the world.

This was love.

She could hardly wait for Xuefei to conceive a cute little dragon egg on the spot.

“Leia, that poor girl from the story… she really exists?”

Truth be told, Xuefei still felt a lingering unease from the tale Leia had told at lunch. The thought of such a girl denied a happy ending was pure agony for her.

Leia, however, brushed it off without a care.

“Silly, I made her up.”

Time flew by, and evening soon arrived.

The sun dipped below the horizon, bathing the Evil Dragon Palace in a warm orange glow as thick black clouds rolled in on schedule—like an omen of impending doom.

Xuefei returned to her room as she always did.

Savoring the day’s bliss, she perched at the bedside desk, cupping her cheeks in her small hands while kicking her long legs idly. They looked all the more alluring against her white silk stockings.

“What a fulfilling day. My flower crown—Lady Leia is sure to adore it!”

Tonight, she’d be extra gentle, too.

But then, an emotionless voice shattered the quiet without warning.

“Have you succumbed to Evil Corruption?”

“Who’s there?”

Xuefei’s eyes flew wide as she scanned the room for the source.

It couldn’t be some monster—nothing in the world was more monstrous than she was.

Her grasp of magic was profoundly deep, surpassing even the Evil Dragon from the First Playthrough. In moments, she sensed something foul lurking beneath her bed.

“Who’s there?”

She glanced warily left and right before zeroing in on the spot under her little bed. With a flip, she exposed it.

A sword gleamed with metallic luster, its blade etched with countless scars that spoke of endless trials.

What was this?

Why would she, the Evil Dragon, keep a human hero’s treasured blade?

“Hero, I am the Holy Sword.”

The words “Holy Sword” made Xuefei’s scarlet pupils contract and dilate with a faint flicker.

On instinct, she seized it and swung lightly. The blade sliced the air with a sharp sonic crack.

In a heartbeat, Xuefei dropped to one knee, slick with sweat, her heart thundering like it might burst from her chest and ravage her trembling frame.

“I…”

“I remember now.”

It all came flooding back…

The plan—exposed.

Leia had seen through her disguise and punished her harshly at noon. Xuefei could still vividly recall the overwhelming intensity of it all!

That indulgence had stretched the Evil Corruption from mere minutes into hours—even the entire afternoon lost to that bizarre haze. And she’d spent half of it whispering sweet nothings to Leia!

It was over…

With the sun vanishing and night closing in, Xuefei swallowed hard, utterly at a loss.

What is the price for abandoning the heroine?

One day, an unfortunate university student, Mo Ran, was transmigrated into the game world "Camiran Continent" and became the male protagonist, the Hero.

"As long as you can defeat the final boss, the Evil Dragon, you can return to the real world," said the god.

Mo Ran was a gaming genius. He quickly adapted to the environment and, leading the Hero's Party, successfully vanquished the Demon King.

But the past was too bitter to recall. Mo Ran defeated the Demon King, but of the entire Hero's Party, including the heroine Leia, only Mo Ran survived to the very end.

"So, are you certain? With no regrets, do you decide to return to your own world?"

The one calling himself a god asked emotionlessly.

"I'm certain."

Mo Ran didn't hesitate for a moment. He had long been yearning for air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and watermelon, and just wanted to leave this godforsaken place.

As a white light enveloped Mo Ran's entire body, the transmigration was a success~

But...

Why did I wake up back in the original world, "Camiran Continent"?!

And what's more, I've turned into a white-haired, red-eyed girl?

Are you kidding me?!

What's even more unbelievable is that the heroine Leia, who died on the battlefield, has now become the very Dragon King I once vanquished!!

"My dear Mo Ran, are you ready to receive my love?"

Dragon King Leia licked her lips.

The price for abandoning the heroine, of course, is turning into a little dragon princess in the second playthrough~
