Mortal Tier, Soul Tier, Super Tier, and Source Tier
“Mortal Tier Layer 3 is probably the highest level an ordinary person can reach.”
Xuefei had a rough idea of what that meant.
The pinnacle for ordinary people was like the Olympic champions, elite athletes, and world-class competitors back in the human world she had come from—icons everyone knew, the absolute limit of what mortals could achieve.
For a truly average person, they might not even reach Mortal Tier Layer 1.
“Looks like you get the concept. Mortal Tier Layer 8 represents a kind of human limit. Without the blessing of divine power or aid from other races, humans can almost never break through to any realm beyond Mortal Tier Layer 8.”
Take Okate, for example—that poor soul possessed by a god. He had been a powerhouse at Mortal Tier Layer 8.
Those at that level of strength could casually demolish buildings, scale walls and rooftops with ease, and cut down ordinary foes without breaking a sweat. Yet whether on the Camiran Continent or in other worlds, all creatures faced the harsh reality of “racial ceilings.”
Light Emissaries and Dark Filth stood at opposite extremes, unbound by clear upper or lower limits. But among all intelligent beings, humans ranked at the bottom in terms of combat prowess—goblins and other lowly creatures were the only ones beneath them.
Fortunately, humans had powerful allies: the gods.
Leia explained, “Gods… or rather, Light Emissaries and those who can cultivate their souls, can step into the Soul Tier. For instance, the Heavenly Wing Clan, the elves, and even the Blood Clan under Dark Filth’s domain—all possess souls strong enough to reach the Soul Tier. Humans, like Laer during the first playthrough, achieve it through deals with the gods.”
Xuefei nodded, feeling it deeply herself.
By linking with divine power, she had gained immense learning potential and room for realm advancement. Naturally, her soul had ascended to the Soul Tier as well.
“To give an example, the kings of the world’s strongest races can reach Soul Tier Layer 6—the pinnacle of that tier. Laer used to be at Soul Tier Layer 5. Don’t underestimate that one-layer gap. At this stage, even a single layer can create a world of difference in battle.”
“And the Demon King too, right?”
“Mm-hmm. The Demon King we took down before was exactly that kind of unreasonable monster—right at the top of the Soul Tier. Defeating one is nothing short of a miracle.”
After all, the final boss of an A-Rank difficulty clear might only be around Soul Tier Layer 5, while the endgame boss of an S-Rank world, the Evil Dragon, surpassed the Soul Tier entirely.
“The Evil Dragon was Super Tier?”
“Exactly—the one we fought before was at Super Tier Layer 1.”
“In truth, most gods, aside from their ability to traverse worlds, are only at the Soul Tier level. Only a rare few who excel in combat hold back to avoid shattering worlds or destabilizing other planes. That’s a big reason why so many gods manipulate humans rather than acting directly.”
“Then what layer are you, Leia?” Xuefei propped her chin on her hand, mimicking Leia’s casual tone as she asked curiously. “Even after sharing some power with me, you still have the strength of over twenty gods inside you. You should be at some ‘Source Tier’ by now, right?”
“Not quite yet.”
Leia smiled serenely. Though it was a regret, she seemed utterly unconcerned, her attitude toward such power always one of indifference.
“I’m at Super Tier Layer 3. Plenty of Main Gods are around my level. But the so-called ‘Source Tier’ is still a long way off… or maybe I’ll never reach it.”
“Even you can’t?” Xuefei’s gaze drifted to the sun outside the window.
Super Tier Layer 3…
That kind of power could burst free from a planet, roam the ocean of stars, and even seek out other civilizations. So what heights could the singular Source Tier attain?
It wasn’t that the Source Tier lacked sub-layers—it was that only one being in existence had ever reached it.
Xuefei wanted to ask who it was, the one who had shattered the Super Tier ceiling to claim a strength beyond the Three Realms.
Leia tilted her head instead.
“No idea.”
“I don’t know either. But if that existence showed up now, Dark Filth and Light Emissaries alike would be laughable in the face of such power. If They willed it, nothing could stand against Them… I spotted a mention of this entity in Laer’s records, but I’ve also heard of one person who might be capable of that level.”
Leia’s smile suddenly vanished, replaced by a grave expression. Her scarlet pupils lost their prior composure for the first time, as though she had foreseen the arrival of some far more formidable powerhouse.
“Demon God King.”
“That is the strongest existence within the Dark Filth. Once, she launched a massive assault on the Light Emissaries, giving rise to the Tide of Dark Filth. Thousands upon thousands of planes were transformed into nests for the Dark Filth, with countless Light Emissaries devoured. For us Dark Filth, it was an unprecedented era of ascension—a true paradise. For all other creatures, however, it was nothing short of hell.”
“Countless worlds have preserved records of her image, but without exception, they depict a ferocious ghost baring fangs and brandishing claws. We Dark Filth know full well that such so-called ferocious ghosts could never stand shoulder to shoulder with Source Tier.”
“Then how did she lose?”
The Demon God King had vanished from the world, yet the Light Emissaries remained active, purging every new outbreak of Dark Filth. So what had become of her…?
Leia gave a wry smile.
“The Demon God King was sealed away in the boundless void. Without outside intervention, no amount of time could free her or allow for her rescue. That was why the vast ocean of Dark Filth began its unprecedented great ebb.”
“She was merely sealed…?”
“Indeed. At that level of power, a being’s soul has already sublimated into part of the world itself. Even if destroyed, it would reincarnate independently in the exact same form, posing a threat no less than before. Sealing her proved far more practical than outright extermination.”
Leia’s smile returned. She reached out and ruffled the stubborn cowlick atop Xuefei’s head. “Of course, her continued existence isn’t exactly good news for us either. Generally speaking, Complete Filth Souls and Complete God Souls hold a precarious position among both the Dark Filth and the Light Emissaries, precisely because of their talent for devouring.”
“Mm…”
But an entity capable of sealing the Demon God King? That was too absurd, no matter how she looked at it.
Did the Gods possess some hidden trump card capable of countering Source Tier powerhouses?
By basic logic, not even the Creation God should have been her match.
An inconceivable conspiracy took shape in Xuefei’s mind, complete with a corresponding plan. But it was so utterly implausible that she could only dismiss it as wild fancy.
Perhaps… the Demon God King’s goal had already been achieved?
