Chapter 35: Airport Encounter Part 1

Around 7:10 p.m., Wang Ya finally arrived at the airport. Because she had been robbed just a few days earlier, she did not have much cash on her. She withdrew money from an ATM, paid the taxi driver, and hurriedly rushed to buy a ticket for the 9:15 p.m. economy class flight.

Wang Ya passed security with Wang Cheng’an and then took him, who had been whining about hunger the whole way, to a fast food restaurant in the airport to eat.

The noodles cost over fifty yuan per bowl. Wang Ya ate three bowls in one go, and Wang Cheng’an ate one more than her. By the time they finished and left the fast food restaurant, it was almost eight o’clock. Wang Ya led Wang Cheng’an straight to the gate.

Check-in began at 8:30 p.m. When they reached the gate, there were still twenty minutes until boarding. The seats at the gate were already full, so Wang Ya pulled Wang Cheng’an to wait in the aisle.

A few minutes later, Wang Ya suddenly felt a gaze directed at her, along with a cold Yin Qi approaching. She heard Wang Cheng’an say, “Yaya, someone is looking at us.” He asked with a hint of pride, “Is it because I’m handsome?” Immediately after, she heard Wang Cheng’an exclaim in surprise, “Oh no, there’s a ghost! Yaya, quick, quick, capture it!” Wang Cheng’an looked up excitedly at the steel beams on the airport ceiling.

Wang Ya ignored Wang Cheng’an and did not even glance at the ceiling above. She slowly turned around and looked at the three people standing about twenty or thirty meters behind her.

The leader was the Old Man who had held the Ebony Staff that she had seen at the County Public Security Bureau that morning. The Ebony Staff was still gripped in his hand. Probably because night had fallen, the Ebony Staff emitted dense Spiritual Qi.

Two middle-aged men of average build followed behind the Old Man, and both stared fixedly at her just like him.

Wang Ya saw that all three of them were shrouded in dense Yin Qi, which ordinary people could not see but appeared substantial in her eyes. She had not expected them to arrive so quickly, nor had she expected them to dare release ghosts in the airport without fear of drawing official forces to wipe them out.

Wang Cheng’an also spotted the three of them and muttered, “Yaya, those three have ghosts on them.” He stretched his neck to look at them and clapped his hands excitedly, shouting, “Yaya, capture them.”

Though Wang Cheng’an, now in his forties, had fair skin, red lips, and white teeth that made him look very young—like he was in his early thirties—a man over 1.78 meters tall jumping and clapping like a seven-year-old child drew sidelong glances from those around.

At that moment, the Rakshasa-like Evil Ghost that had climbed above Wang Ya suddenly swooped down toward her.

Wang Ya pushed Wang Cheng’an aside, stepped with Taiji Step, formed seals with her hands, raised her palm, and struck the claw of the diving Evil Ghost, sending it flying backward. She took out the Ghost Collecting Bell tied around her waist and hurled the bell at the ghost. The red rope at the other end of the Ghost Collecting Bell was wrapped around her finger, allowing her to control it. At the same time, four more ghosts dropped from high places in different directions, lunging straight at Wang Ya.

Confident in her Ancient Bronze Ghost-Suppressing Physique, Wang Ya felt no fear. She stepped into Taiji Array Positions and successively struck out several palms, sending the four Evil Ghosts that reached her flying one after another. Then she abruptly withdrew her palms and formed a Lotus Seal, chanting lowly, “Golden Lotus Upright Body, All Evils Manifest, Evil Ghosts Reveal Form!” She let out a loud shout resembling Sanskrit, holding the Lotus Seal like a solemn true Buddha standing in the aisle by the airport gate.

The five Evil Ghosts that had lunged at Wang Ya’s side suddenly transformed into five hazy cyan images, manifesting before the public. Before the shocked onlookers could get a clear look, the Old Man opposite shouted, “Come back!” He raised his hand and grabbed through the air. The five ghost shadows withdrew from Wang Ya like an illusion and were recaptured by the Old Man.

Wang Ya looked at the Old Man, a mocking smile curling at the corner of her mouth. She had thought they were so bold to release ghosts and cause trouble in the airport!

The Old Man held his Cane and walked slowly toward Wang Ya, a faint smile on his face. His smile appeared very kindly at first glance but seemed somewhat eerie upon closer inspection.

Wang Ya did not want to be mistaken for a mentally ill person, so she dismissed her seals and footwork, standing gracefully with a mocking smile as she eyed the approaching Old Man.

The Old Man chuckled and walked to within less than two meters of Wang Ya, greeting her loudly like a familiar elder meeting a beloved junior, “Little one, long time no see! Did you miss Grandpa?”

The smile on Wang Ya’s face deepened as she said, “I ‘missed’ you to death!” She bit down hard on the word “death” and glanced around from the corner of her eye. Seeing no security personnel or armed police, she breathed a slight sigh of relief. In this heavily guarded airport, she truly did not dare act recklessly.

Yin Spirit Scroll

Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

Heaven had sun and moon; the world divided into yin and yang. The Yang Realm had people, so did the Underworld have ghosts? Where was the Underworld? Where were the ghosts?

One day, a girl born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Ghost Festival—flipped open an ancient, faded scroll and suddenly discovered that it brimmed with vibrant colors.

The painting depicted undulating mountains, resembling an ancient map. It was made from human skin and drawn with blood as ink, with ghost shadows lurking upon it.

The ancient scroll, soaked in blood, unveiled a little-known world—one filled with Yin Spirits and long-buried history.
