Chapter 52: Way Too Hate-Inducing Part 3

Wang Ya grinned mischievously. “Isn’t your Yunnan Zhang Family a centuries-old Xuan Men lineage? Just wipe out the Ghost Family, catch Ghost Granny, and take her Ghost Pill! Why beg me? I’ve got enough troubles of my own right now.” Wang Ya inwardly chuckled wickedly. Okay, she wasn’t hiding it— the smile tugging at her lips was impossible to conceal.

Zhang Qingshui withdrew her hand, took a deep breath, bit her lip, glared for a long time, then grumbled, “Wang Ya, you can be so hate-inducing sometimes!”

Wang Ya said coolly, “Huang Qi was beloved by all as a child, while I’ve been shunned by people and dodged by ghosts since I was little—I’m used to it!” After jabbing, she arched a brow and slanted a glance at Zhang Qingshui. But now, with her body full of Demonic Aura and her face brimming with irresistible allure, even her casual, flippant gesture oozed seductive charm—like a seductive demoness out to hook souls.

Zhang Qingshui blanked for a moment, then awkwardly turned her face away, bit her lower lip hard, and irritably asked, “Wang Ya, is this your idea of seduction? What’s the point?”

Wang Ya chuckled. “Where’d you see me seducing you?”

Zhang Qingshui got up, fetched a mirror from the room, and handed it to Wang Ya. “See for yourself.”

Wang Ya glanced at the mirror and saw the Demonic Aura-clad woman staring back, inwardly screaming, Demon! She slammed the mirror face-down on the table, unwilling to look again. One more glance was too heartbreaking! How was she supposed to live like this? Wang Ya instantly lost her mood to tease Zhang Qingshui. She cradled her forehead with one hand in the rattan chair, deeply troubled: How could she cover up this Demonic Aura? Even partially would do. Just eating dinner in the restaurant had drawn endless stares, overt and covert!

Zhang Qingshui didn’t want to look at this demon Wang Ya anymore either—too mind-taxing. After a while, she softly said, “The Zhang Family isn’t what you think. We won’t exterminate the Ghost Family just for a Ghost Pill. A gentleman takes by righteous means; wiping out a clan for treasure is neither righteous nor benevolent!”

Wang Ya asked, “What about the Feng Family then?”

Zhang Qingshui said, “You’ll understand someday. Wang Ya, it wasn’t the Zhang Family coveting the Feng Family’s treasures that led to their extermination—it was heaven’s will. Raised by Feng Yuqin and inheriting the Feng Family legacy, I know you don’t like hearing this, but haven’t you wondered why the Feng Family drew the united wrath of the Righteous and Evil Paths? They did plenty of heaven-defying deeds back then. Not to mention distant history—just take the Myriad Coffins Array in that Underground Palace. You saw thousands of coffins yourself; don’t tell me those Corpse Ghosts weren’t sealed alive. That’s nearly a thousand lives! Don’t say the Underground Palace has nothing to do with the Feng Family—the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower was their guardian flower. You have the Array-Breaking Formula for that palace. Without you and Wang Cheng’an, the three of us couldn’t have left alive.” She paused. “The Feng Family built more than one such tomb back then. If there’s any chance of finding another Ghost Pill, it’ll be in one of those tombs they built.”

Wang Ya narrowed her eyes at Zhang Qingshui. “You’re saying on one hand that the Feng Family’s past deeds defied heaven, and on the other that those very heaven-defying tombs hold the Ghost Pill you need.”

Zhang Qingshui said, “That’s different. Wang Ya, if you get another Ghost Pill in the future, could you save one for Little Qi?”

Wang Ya asked, “Why should I?”

Zhang Qingshui said, “I’m begging you. I already owe her so much; if she…” Her voice choked, unable to continue. After a pause, she said, “I can only beg you on this. We’ve exhausted every method and connection—there’s truly no other way.”

Wang Ya scoffed lightly. “You think I can?”

Zhang Qingshui nodded firmly. “You can!”

Wang Ya asked, “What if I refuse?”

The words plunged Zhang Qingshui into silence, hitting rock bottom.

After a very, very long time, Zhang Qingshui softly said, “Then I’d have to destroy the happiness of her first half-life and owe her a life besides.” She sighed deeply, changed the subject, and said, “It’s late; you should rest early.” She stood to see her out, then suddenly remembered something. “Wang Ya, you’d best find a way to suppress this Demonic Aura of yours. I know you have Demonic Power surging now, but you can’t withstand the united assault of the world’s Righteous Path. The demon in your body and the Yin Spirit Scroll in your hands are the true roots of the Feng Family’s extermination calamity. With both on you at once, even official forces won’t tolerate it!”

Wang Ya asked, “Doesn’t your Zhang Family serve the officials too?”

Zhang Qingshui helplessly said, “But I have a favor to ask you!” Then added, “Besides, your situation isn’t unsolvable.” With that, she moved to usher her out.

Wang Ya wanted to slap Zhang Qingshui flying! How infuriatingly obnoxious was she? Begging hadn’t worked, so now threats. She huffed angrily, leaned close to Zhang Qingshui’s face, and whispered in her ear, “Zhang Qingshui, if I find another Corpse Dan, I’ll refine and eat it too!” Then she turned and stormed out.

Zhang Qingshui’s face flushed crimson as she clutched the ear Wang Ya had breathed on, tempted to stomp and curse “Bitch!” regardless of recovery. But she lacked Wang Ya’s silver tongue for infuriating tirades without catching breath. For a moment, she wanted to call in the big shots to eliminate Wang Ya, but then thought better of it. Damn it, she still had to cover for Wang Ya now. With how eye-catching Wang Ya was, even a black curtain wouldn’t hide her.

Once Wang Ya left, Zhang Qingshui poured a large glass of water and downed it in one go to calm her shock and anger!

Yin Spirit Scroll

Yin Spirit Scroll

Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

Heaven had sun and moon; the world divided into yin and yang. The Yang Realm had people, so did the Underworld have ghosts? Where was the Underworld? Where were the ghosts?

One day, a girl born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Ghost Festival—flipped open an ancient, faded scroll and suddenly discovered that it brimmed with vibrant colors.

The painting depicted undulating mountains, resembling an ancient map. It was made from human skin and drawn with blood as ink, with ghost shadows lurking upon it.

The ancient scroll, soaked in blood, unveiled a little-known world—one filled with Yin Spirits and long-buried history.
