Chapter 8: If I Say I Won’t Take the Ghost, Then I Won’t Part 2

Wang Ya leaned sideways and looked forward between the two front seats. She saw a hunched Old Lady leaning on her Cane standing in the middle of the road. The car lights shone on her body but reflected no light at all, and there wasn’t even a shadow behind her. Wang Ya furrowed her brows and stared at the Dead Old Lady. She felt the Dead Old Lady staring back at her too. The road behind the Dead Old Lady had turned pitch black. This road already had streetlights, but now all the lights behind were gone. She turned her head to look behind and found the streetlights there were also out—not just the lights; it was as if the road itself had vanished. Wang Ya rolled down the window and saw black mist drifting in. Outside the window was thick Yin Qi. She heard the Golden Tang Suit Man shout sternly, “What ghost from where dares to harm heaven and people!” Seeing him push open the car door to get out, she immediately shouted loudly, “Don’t get out!” She gave a cold glance at the Dead Old Lady standing in the middle of the road and said, “Dead Old Lady, sis isn’t in the mood to take you tonight. Scram!”

The Old Lady still gazed at her with eerie, sinister eyes, as if she wouldn’t rest until she left Wang Ya behind.

Wang Ya laughed coldly. “You think you can keep me here with your power?”

The Old Lady said, “That’s easy to say. As long as you promise not to meddle in this anymore and leave her behind, this old lady can spare your life.”

Zheng Yanxia grabbed Wang Ya’s clothes and shouted, “Wang Ya, one million two hundred thousand! Take her down, and I’ll immediately write you a full check!”

Wang Ya clearly felt Zheng Yanxia’s hand grabbing her clothes trembling violently. She let out an “eh” and said, “Didn’t you just say you didn’t have it?” She then saw the Golden Tang Suit Man lift his robe again and pull out a small bottle over an inch tall from inside the robe. He poured two drops of water from the bottle onto his eyes and looked around, after which his face turned pale.

Zheng Yanxia gripped Wang Ya’s clothes tightly and said, “Even a full check can’t be cashed until the bank opens tomorrow.” She then screamed sharply, “Wang Ya, the car is still moving!”

Wang Ya rolled her eyes. “What are you screaming about? Fierce Ghost Mountain Moving Technique—even mountains can be moved. What’s strange about shifting a car?”

The Golden Tang Suit Man clamped a piece of Talisman Paper in his hand and shouted loudly, “Supreme Lord Laozi, as urgent as the law commands! Decree!” The burning Talisman Paper flew out, drifting to the window outside. It floated just over two meters before extinguishing! Through the light of the burning Talisman Paper, Wang Ya saw that the surroundings were filled with dense Black Qi, as if they were no longer in the human world. The Golden Tang Suit Man then pulled out two Paper Effigies from the inside of his robe, chanted an incantation, and the Paper Effigies immediately grew to normal human size and floated out.

Those two Paper Persons were still as thin as paper sheets, with only their facial features drawn in ink. The rest of their bodies were pure white, and even the sword and saber in their hands were white paper. One Paper Person held a saber, the other a sword. They floated out of the car and pounced toward the Ancient Old Ghost.

The Ancient Old Ghost’s figure instantly vanished into the darkness. The Paper People flew into the darkness, and soon they were gone from sight too, leaving only the incessant sounds of weapons clashing.

Zheng Yanxia said, “The car is still sinking downward.”

Wang Ya clicked her tongue and said angrily, “This Dead Old Lady is really troublesome. Sis hasn’t gotten paid yet! Tonight, if I say no to taking ghosts, then no ghost-taking!” She looked down at her right hand, furrowed her brows, and stared conflictedly at her recently scabbed finger. She brought the previously bitten finger to her mouth and bit down hard. The finger, which had just stopped bleeding, bled again. Wang Ya leaned forward and used her bloodied finger to draw on the windshield. Her mouth muttered incantations extremely quickly, like a mosquito buzzing. Her hand swiftly drew a lotus-shaped Blood Talisman. She suddenly shouted, “With blood to guide the way, burn my essence blood! Blood Talisman guides the path, Lotus Return to Yang! Open the road!” As she shouted the word “road,” she formed a seal with her hand. Suddenly, a lotus flower flew out from the Blood Talisman drawn on the windshield and hovered above the car’s hood. The hazy golden light shone on the car, causing much of the surrounding Yin Qi to dissipate.

Yin Spirit Scroll

Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

Heaven had sun and moon; the world divided into yin and yang. The Yang Realm had people, so did the Underworld have ghosts? Where was the Underworld? Where were the ghosts?

One day, a girl born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Ghost Festival—flipped open an ancient, faded scroll and suddenly discovered that it brimmed with vibrant colors.

The painting depicted undulating mountains, resembling an ancient map. It was made from human skin and drawn with blood as ink, with ghost shadows lurking upon it.

The ancient scroll, soaked in blood, unveiled a little-known world—one filled with Yin Spirits and long-buried history.
