Chapter 150: A Four-Way Relationship
Huang Feiyan could sense Ning Feixuan’s complex feelings towards Mingyan.
On the one hand, she recognized his good character. On the other, she needed to keep her distance. Was it because she thought he was too attractive to other women? Or was it because she was afraid that getting too close might lead to her developing feelings for him?
Regardless, she needed to maintain her distance.
But on the other hand, because of their masters’ and their own friendship, she couldn’t be truly distant from him. And he, despite his feelings for her, had never been forward or caused her any trouble. With her personality, she couldn’t just treat him coldly.
Huang Feiyan naturally understood Ning Feixuan’s personality. And she had to admit, Mingyan had handled the situation well. Even after confessing his feelings, he hadn’t made it impossible for her to face him.
Huang Feiyan was also relieved that Feixuan had no romantic feelings for him.
At least, they wouldn’t be in a true love triangle, where one would eventually be heartbroken.
However, Feixuan’s good impression of Mingyan meant there was still a possibility she could fall for him. She had to act fast. Regardless, she needed to establish a relationship with Mingyan before Feixuan developed any feelings for him. This was about her own happiness, and also about the future of the Huang family.
After Ning Feixuan left, Huang Feiyan went to find Mingyan.
She knocked on his door. “Mingyan, are you there?”
Hearing no reply, she hesitated, then the door suddenly opened. It was Yue Qingying.
Her beautiful face was slightly flushed. Seeing Huang Feiyan, she looked away. “You can talk to my junior brother. I’m… leaving.”
She then left in a hurry.
Huang Feiyan looked at her retreating back, a faint confusion on her face. Why was Qingying’s face so red? What had she been doing in Mingyan’s room?
She suddenly remembered what Ning Feixuan had said… Could it be true that Qingying also liked Mingyan? Her own junior brother?
Thinking of this, Huang Feiyan pursed her lips. If that was the case, Qingying being so close to Mingyan all the time…
Perhaps she should ask… Qingying’s thoughts?
“Feiyan?” Mingyan looked up and smiled at her.
Huang Feiyan came back to her senses and was about to speak when she stopped. She saw a faint red mark on his face. She was stunned and walked closer. “What happened to your face, Mingyan?”
She knew his physique was incredibly strong. How could there be a red mark on his face?
Mingyan touched his face and blinked. “My face… what’s wrong with it?”
She moved closer and examined it carefully, then reached out and touched the red mark.
It was slightly damp… She lowered her hand and looked at her fingertips. There was no color. It wasn’t rouge or anything like that. So, it was the color of his own skin.
“What’s this? There’s a pale red spot on your face,” she asked.
Her intimate gesture surprised him. Only his sister, Wang Qingchu, and his senior sister, Yue Qingying, had ever done this before. He hadn’t expected Huang Feiyan to be so close to him… Were all girls like this? He was a bit hesitant. Weren’t men and women supposed to keep their distance?
Perhaps Feiyan felt their relationship was close enough that such things didn’t matter.
But hearing her words, he came back to his senses.
He remembered that at the end of their “practice” session, his senior sister had seemed to kiss his cheek, and he had felt a faint sucking sensation. Could she have made this mark?
But it seemed inappropriate to tell others. After all, his relationship with his senior sister was already quite intimate. They didn’t mind, but if others found out, they might have a bad impression of her.
And he subconsciously felt it was better not to tell Huang Feiyan. He didn’t know why, but he followed his gut.
“I don’t know,” he shook his head, not telling the truth.
“…” She asked, “Doesn’t it hurt?”
“No, it doesn’t. It’ll probably heal soon,” he smiled. “Do you need me for something, Feiyan?”
“I just came to chat.” Seeing he was fine, she relaxed and smiled. “You and Qingying are so close. I’m envious.”
“Aren’t you and Senior Sister also close?”
“I’m not talking about my relationship with Qingying,” she pouted. “Don’t you understand what I mean?”
Mingyan thought for a moment. “Are you talking about my relationship with my senior sister?”
Huang Feiyan smiled, neither confirming nor denying.
Seeing this, he assumed she had agreed. “I don’t think our relationship is that bad, is it?”
It shouldn’t be that bad. They were quite relaxed when they were together.
But after he said that, he didn’t hear her reply. He looked at her and saw she was staring at his face, slightly dazed.
“What’s wrong?”
“Hmm… nothing.” She smiled and started chatting with him.
After leaving Mingyan’s room, Huang Feiyan’s brow furrowed. The red mark on his face… was suspicious. And when Yue Qingying had come out of his room earlier, her face had also been flushed…
Had their relationship already progressed to a certain stage?
Impossible. Huang Feiyan couldn’t figure it out. Yue Qingying also knew that Mingyan liked Ning Feixuan. And Mingyan was devoted to Feixuan. How could they have that kind of relationship?
Thinking of this, she went to find Yue Qingying.
“Qingying.”
“Feiyan…” Yue Qingying’s beautiful face flashed with a hint of unnaturalness, but she quickly concealed it and smiled. “Are you finished chatting with my junior brother?”
“Yes…” Huang Feiyan nodded. “Has the Moon Shadow Holy Master… told you about… the marriage alliance?”
“Marriage alliance… you mean between you and Mingyan?”
“It seems you know.” Huang Feiyan smiled faintly, a playful look in her eyes. “I might become your junior sister-in-law.”
Yue Qingying chuckled. “Then that would be adding kinship to kinship… But why are you asking this?”
“It’s just… you know Mingyan still likes Feixuan. I’ve already asked Feixuan about her thoughts. She has no romantic feelings for him…”
“You want me to help you?” Yue Qingying narrowed her eyes, a playful smile on her lips.
Huang Feiyan’s face turned red, and she didn’t say anything.
Yue Qingying was silent for a moment, then asked, “Do you really like Mingyan, or is it just because of family matters?”
Yue Qingying had always been puzzled why the Huang family would arrange a marriage between Huang Feiyan and Mingyan. The Huang family wasn’t supposed to marry outsiders or take in sons-in-law. This confused her.
“I have good feelings for him… Perhaps it can be said to be a faint liking. And I’m not against the family’s wishes.”
“…I see. I’ll help you.” Yue Qingying’s eyelids drooped slightly, her eyes filled with a complex emotion that she hid from Huang Feiyan.
After leaving Yue Qingying, Huang Feiyan frowned. She had tested her, but Qingying hadn’t said anything and was even willing to help her… It seemed she had been overthinking.
Thinking of this, she relaxed. The only one she needed to be wary of was Feixuan potentially changing her mind. She could still trust Qingying.
