Chapter 109: Dead End
“Are you feeling better, Qian Ge?”
Lin Siyi squeezed past Su Yu and hugged Xia Qian Ge, looking as if she were about to inspect her from head to toe.
“I’m fine, just a little dizzy. I’m much better now.”
Xia Qian Ge had reapplied her makeup on the way, her complexion as bright and beautiful as when she had first arrived.
“That’s good, that’s good. Um… want to ride the Ferris wheel? The Ferris wheel here is so high.” Lin Siyi had a big heart. Seeing that Xia Qian Ge was really okay, she returned to her usual bubbly self. She looked up at the towering Ferris wheel and suggested, “Come on, come on. The scenery from up there must be beautiful.”
“Okay, I’ve never been on one before.” Xia Qian Ge nodded in agreement, glanced at Su Yu out of the corner of her eye, and smiled charmingly. “Then it’s just the two of us.”
“Um… okay.”
Su Yu suppressed the strange, twisted feeling in his heart. He curled his lips into a smile, but his eyes were evasive, not daring to land on the girl. He didn’t know what had come over him. His body seemed to be out of control. Ever since he had impulsively stood in front of the girl, everything had become twisted and blurry, as if he were looking at the world through a raging fire. But he couldn’t pinpoint the problem.
A once-calm lake was suddenly filled with unceasing ripples, which grew larger and larger, turning into waves, then into high waves, drenching him completely, leaving him in a pathetic state.
“Let’s go…” Lin Siyi shouted and pulled Zhang Heng onto the platform to wait for the ride.
Su Yu shook his head vigorously, pushing down the meaningless thoughts in his mind. He looked at Xia Qian Ge as naturally as possible and said with a smile, “Then we should get in line too.”
“Mm-hmm.”
The Ferris wheel cars were for two people. He and Xia Qian Ge stood side by side on the platform, watching as the Ferris wheel slowly descended towards them. Lin Siyi was in front of them. She turned around, waved, and then excitedly pulled Zhang Heng into a car.
Xia Qian Ge waved at Lin Siyi, who was in the car, nestled in Zhang Heng’s arms. They were both smiling sweetly, which made her feel a little envious.
She quietly turned her head and glanced at the boy beside her. He stood in the radiant sunset, his profile clear and handsome, like a lone, verdant pine tree on a cliff. She felt as if she were in a rising tide, the hot blood in her fragile veins starting to rampage.
The phone in her pocket buzzed. She lit up the screen and saw a message from Lin Siyi: “Hehe, I told you you were interested in him. Stop peeking, or you’ll give yourself away. Once you’re up there, just go for it. A girl as pretty as you, is there any man you can’t conquer? Waiting for your good news. Go, go, go!”
Xia Qian Ge put the phone back in her pocket and couldn’t help but laugh.
Confess? She couldn’t do such a thing, nor would she. Things that came too easily were never cherished. The initiative should be in her hands. Compared to the weakness of confessing, she would rather press the boy down, her hot breath lingering in his ear, her soft voice laced with a hint of compelling authority, and ask him: “Do you like me? How long are you going to hide your little thoughts?”
She wanted the boy to fall in love with her, to confess to her out of an uncontrollable love, to love her to the point of madness, his eyes seeing only her. When she was about to leave, he would hug her legs, humbly begging her not to go. No physical restraints were needed. Love was the best rope, binding the boy’s body, and he had to be willing.
Xia Qian Ge let out a hot breath. Her heart was pounding. She stood on her tiptoes and looked up at the Ferris wheel, imagining certain impending scenes. The expression on her face suddenly stiffened, and then… her heart began to pound wildly in her chest.
She fantasized about being in a narrow car with the boy, a hundred meters in the air, their breaths audible, as if they were on a train being chased by the apocalypse. The world was annihilated, the apocalypse roared behind them, and only they existed in each other’s world.
The beautiful fantasy was so captivating that her entire body trembled.
“Qian Ge? It’s our turn.”
Xia Qian Ge felt the boy patting her shoulder. She looked back in a daze, and the first thing she saw was the boy’s thin lips. The sunset had dyed his somewhat pale lips a translucent, light pink. I really want to… take a bite.
The desire was stronger than ever before.
She suddenly realized that the Ferris wheel, about to slowly descend, had instead become a train to hell. She couldn’t get on… she definitely couldn’t.
Xia Qian Ge took two steps back, for the first time doubting her own self-control. If she were in such an ambiguous and confined space with the boy, she would go crazy, she definitely would. The hot and strong emotions hidden in her heart would pour out like a burst dam. She dared not imagine it anymore, what she would do to the boy in that high-altitude place where there was nowhere to hide.
She readily admitted that her method, besides reason, was escape. She would always turn and flee just as the love in her heart was about to become unbearable, about to reveal its fangs. But in such a high place, where could she escape to?
Xia Qian Ge felt that she had made a mistake, a big mistake. She had overestimated herself. Such a mistake could even be irreversible, making her prefer to jump directly from the high altitude rather than expose herself so absurdly.
Her heart was in chaos, she was flustered, and she even wanted to run, to turn and run.
“What’s wrong? Didn’t you say… you were looking forward to it?”
Su Yu frowned, looking at Xia Qian Ge’s inexplicable hesitation with some confusion.
“N-Nothing.”
Xia Qian Ge’s heart trembled, but she shook her head with a particularly natural expression and said with a smile, “Then… then let’s go up.”
“Okay, be careful.”
Su Yu was also a little nervous. He forced himself to get into the car first, and then turned to look at the girl, who was still standing there, seemingly hesitant. He thought she was a little nervous because it was her first time, so he smiled and comforted her, “It’s okay. It’s very slow. Come on up.”
Xia Qian Ge swallowed the saliva between her lips and teeth, a sharp glint flashing in her eyes. She took Su Yu’s hand and got in. She desperately wanted to suppress the surging throbbing in her heart, but the moment her palm touched the boy’s wrist, her reason dissipated quickly.
The palm of her hand, hidden behind her back, was pierced hard by her nails. The pain brought her reason back a little, which allowed her to jump into the car steadily. There were seats at both ends of the car. They could sit together, or they could sit opposite each other. The boy sat at one end first, so she chose the other end. The distance between them was only less than half a meter, their breaths intertwined, like two invisible snakes in a lingering embrace.
The car slowly rose under the rotation of the steel axle, as if it were about to collide with the setting sun. The boundary of reason seemed to be only this last half a meter, the bowstring slowly tightening to its limit.
Xia Qian Ge stared blankly, her eyes dazed. If there were a mirror at this moment, she would definitely be able to see her pathetic appearance, as if large poppies were blooming in her heart, the tip of her nose filled with an addictive scent, difficult to control.
The ambiguous sunset scattered down, dyeing a thin layer of brilliance on the boy’s handsome profile, like cream poured on the surface of a soft cake, sweet and cloying.
Xia Qian Ge stared blankly.
I really want to… she really, really wants to…
The desire in her body screamed. Patience was painful, but the pleasure was captivating. A voice in her head said.
Instead of suffering, why not indulge?
She swallowed the last bit of saliva, her mouth so dry it was as if all the liquid had evaporated, even her brain felt like it was about to burn to ashes. Her stubborn reason always crumbled so ridiculously in front of him.
She suddenly realized… there was no escape.
This was a dead end.
