Chapter 36: Love You
The graduation ceremony was over, and the students, who had been suppressed for too long, were all on the streets, looking for fun. They had been drinking in a bar until they were half-drunk. The commercial street was filled with young figures, and they had been wandering from the beginning to the end of the street. When they were tired, they had just happened to have stopped in front of a KTV. A large group of people had been shouting, and they had rushed in with a full of a smell of alcohol.
The cheerful and familiar class monitor was organizing and had rented a private room. A dozen or so beers and snacks had been sent in. Someone had ordered a lively song, and the private room was soon filled with the sound of drinking and noise.
“You should drink less. You’re a drunkard, and you’re still drinking.”
Wang Yao had frowned and had snatched the wine from He Mu Qing’s hand. “Are you crazy? You don’t have to be so excited just because you’ve graduated.”
“I can’t get drunk…”, He Mu Qing had opened a new bottle, and her almond-shaped, round eyes were slightly squinted. A red halo was at the corners of her eyes, and she was drunk. “It would be better if I were dead drunk. He’s really a bastard.”
“Huh? So you’ve been sulking all this time.” Wang Yao had pouted and had suddenly understood. “I have to say, this is your fault. This is a class reunion. It’s not appropriate to bring him here. I don’t think he’s a very sociable person. And besides… the boys in the class will be disappointed then.”
Wang Yao had glanced at the more than half of the boys on the seats. The enclosed space was filled with the smell of alcohol, and the nerves were slowly softening. People would always unconsciously indulge themselves when they were numb. He didn’t know who had ordered a love song. The boys and girls were separated, and then they had slowly gotten closer. The atmosphere had suddenly become ambiguous, and the suppressed feelings were brewing a temperature in the dark.
“I don’t care. A liar is a liar. If it were before, he would definitely have come.”
He Mu Qing had frowned with her delicate eyebrows, and she was half-leaning on Wang Yao’s shoulder. She was half-drunk, and her fingertips were on the mouth of the glass bottle, and she was tapping it. The red from the wine was at the corners of her eyes, and her cheeks were flushed. Her cheeks were slightly puffed out, and a coquettish and charming look was in her pureness.
She just felt that her head was dizzy. The flickering neon lights in the room had taken her back to the past. Her pearly white teeth were biting her red lips. “He used to listen to me in everything.”
“Alright, alright. You’re just spoiled. Stop showing off your love in front of me, a single person. After the party is over, I’ll send you to him right away. I used to think that you would definitely be a cold and unfeeling, high and cold female doctor in the future. I didn’t expect that you would also be a love-struck fool.”
“Yao Yao, do you know what love is?”, He Mu Qing had tilted her head, and her hair was draped down. She was constantly chasing after her and was asking, “You tell me. Please…
“Love is a harmful thing. A wise man does not fall in love. Look at you. You’re really like a fool.”
Wang Yao was so annoyed by her that her ears were filled with the sound of her acting spoiled, which was mixed with the smell of alcohol, and it had given her goosebumps. She had taken off her clothes and had covered He Mu Qing with them. She had pulled her and had found a corner to sit down again. She had used her body to cover her and had blocked the furtive gazes.
“Love is letting go and hoping that he will be excellent and happy. So, I… I want to…”
This drunk and crazy woman was murmuring in her ear as if she were a psycho. Her words were intermittent, and then she had turned her head and had fallen down.
Someone had at this time proposed to play truth or dare. The wine had confused their reason, and when people were gathered together, they would make a fuss. Soon, the others had followed suit, and they were making a fuss and were wanting to play.
“Yao Yao, isn’t Mu Qing playing?”, someone had noticed this side, and their gaze had swept over.
“Don’t you see that she’s drunk?”, Wang Yao had frowned and had looked at the somewhat ill-intentioned gaze, and she had refused. “I’ll play for her.”
“This… Mu Qing didn’t say she wouldn’t play. I don’t think she’s doing very well, right?”, someone was persistent, and they were openly and secretly stirring up the atmosphere.
“I’ll play. I… I want to play.”
He Mu Qing, who was half-lying down, had suddenly sat up, and she had startled Wang Yao. She had turned her head and had pushed He Mu Qing back. “What are you doing, you drunkard? You’re so drunk. Who can you beat? You’re just waiting to be bullied.”
“I’ve been bullied. Why hasn’t he come yet? Where is he? Yao Yao… where is he?”
“How would I know where he is? Can you sober up? He won’t be here for a while.”
Wang Yao was about to go crazy. The hot and panting, delicate voice was making her hair stand on end. She always felt that the girl in front of her had suddenly changed her personality. Where had the independent and self-disciplined He Mu Qing gone? “Alright, give me your phone. I’ll give him a call.”
“I… I’ll look for it.”
She had lowered her head and had rummaged in her bag. Her vision was a hazy and gray. She had drunk on an empty stomach, and her stomach had suddenly cramped. She had covered her mouth, and her mind was in a blank state.
“My dear sister, are you going to vomit?”
Wang Yao was in a daze, and her movements were light. She was afraid of getting it all over her. In her helplessness, she had a premonition. Her good best friend would probably be entangled with this person for the rest of her life.
She had supported He Mu Qing and had stood up. She had pushed aside the group of people in her class behind her. “Everyone, have fun. We’ll be leaving now.”
The little girl had suppressed her urge to vomit, but she was so dizzy that her words were slurred. Her face was so red that it was about to drip with blood, and she was constantly calling his name.
Wang Yao was very tired. She was carrying He Mu Qing and was about to go to the bathroom. She had just passed a corner and had looked up to catch her breath. She had seen a boy in a black shirt and black pants, and his thin and handsome body was leaning against the wall. His thick and smooth black hair was draped down, and he was looking down and was fiddling with his phone.
She was as if she had seen a savior. Her eyes were shining, and she had shouted, “Su Yu! Over here, over here.”
The voice had reached his ear. Su Yu had looked up and had seen Wang Yao supporting the unconscious girl. She was so tired that she was panting. He had quickly walked over.
“You finally came? Your girl, hey. She’s so tired that I’m about to die.”
“I’m sorry. I thought you guys were about to leave. I was afraid of disturbing you, so I’ve been waiting at the door.”
Su Yu had smiled with some embarrassment and had taken the girl from Wang Yao’s hand. “Sorry to trouble you. Then I’ll take her back first.”
“Go, go.”
Wang Yao had bitten her lip and had thrown the girl to Su Yu. She had then called out to him. “Hey, Su Yu…”
“What’s wrong?”, he had turned his head.
Wang Yao had sighed, and she was not as casual as usual. “Be good to her. This person is only a little smart in her studies. She’s actually a fool. She’s unguarded with anyone who is good to her. She’s so silly. But for four years… I’ve really never seen her like this. She’s like she’s crazy.”
Su Yu had lowered his eyes, and the girl, who was very drunk, was on his shoulder and was making a fuss. He could vaguely hear his name from her mouth.
He had raised his head again, and his eyebrows and eyes were clear. He had nodded vigorously, and his tone was serious. “Okay, I know.”
…
The two of them were snuggling together. They had left the KTV. The evening wind was blowing past their necks, and the nerve endings were cold.
It was a moonless night. He could see a few scattered stars in the thick night, and they were nakedly shining. It was a rare sight in the city. He had remembered the night sky that was common in the small county before.
He Mu Qing had suddenly pulled him, and she was not willing to leave. She was looking up at the sky. “The stars are so beautiful. Su Yu, Su Yu. Do you see that they are connected and look like your name?”
He had followed her and had looked up. He had complied with the drunkard’s wishes. “Yeah, yeah. They really do.”
He Mu Qing had laughed out loud. She had jumped on the side of the road a few times, and she had kicked a few stones into the night. Her face was full of a drunken look, and she was still not sober.
She had suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and was by his earlobe. Her thin, red lips were delicate and were about to drip. Her voice was soft and was dragged out. “I love you…”
Su Yu had frowned deeply, and he had not heard clearly. He had asked her, “What? Who?”
The little girl had stood up straight with a happy look, and her slender waist was straight. Her tone was proud.
“It’s me. Of course it’s me. I love you…”
She was pulling at his sleeve and was swaying. She was squinting her eyes, and she was laughing hehe. “I don’t regret it at all.”
