“Ding~” Favorability increased.
“Mo Qingrou’s Favorability Toward Liang Sheng: 21”
They had just started eating amid a couple of clinks from their chopsticks when Liang Sheng opened her mouth to speak. Mo Qingrou cut her off. “No talking while eating, no talking while sleeping.”
The quiet time flew by. In the blink of an eye, it was already one-thirty. Liang Sheng pulled a face like she’d bitten into a bitter melon, reluctantly pushing open the door to the infirmary as she prepared to head to class.
Oh God! Please let a herd of rampaging dinosaurs trample the school flat! I really don’t want to be gawked at. An earthquake would work too!
“Water leak!” A piercing scream tore through the sky.
Who leaked? Who leaked to get everyone so worked up? Liang Sheng hadn’t even processed it.
“Fire! Fire!” One cry after another echoed across the entire school, with wails and howls erupting everywhere.
Boom, boom, boom. The thunder of footsteps shook Liang Sheng to her core, as if a pack of dinosaurs really had arrived.
Fire?! Liang Sheng’s brain finally caught up—it was the school on fire.
No way. Was her mouth blessed or something? Fine, right here and now, she made another wish: let Su Ze drop dead as soon as possible!
“Hey! What are you standing there stunned for? Run!” It was the first time Liang Sheng had heard the big iceberg Mo Qingrou raise her voice like that.
Her stomach suddenly cramped. Damn it, talk about bad timing with her period.
“Tch.” Mo Qingrou doubled back, scooping Liang Sheng up in a princess carry. With her flat athletic shoes and starting from the first-floor lobby, she burst out of the building with Liang Sheng in her arms in mere seconds.
“Sister Mo Qingrou, Gu Yuqi and Hana are still inside.” The vast sports field held only the two of them. Liang Sheng wanted to rush back into the academic building to check the situation.
“Don’t go in—it’s on fire, too dangerous.” Mo Qingrou grabbed Liang Sheng’s arm. “They’ll run out on their own soon enough. From out here, the fire doesn’t look that big.”
“What if they can’t get out?”
“…” Mo Qingrou’s deep navy eyes turned icy cold. “Then that’s just their bad luck. I won’t risk my own life to save others.”
“I wasn’t planning to save anyone. I just want to take a look.” Liang Sheng struggled, trying to break free of Mo Qingrou’s grip.
“No!” Mo Qingrou snapped. “I’ve already gotten you out safe. You can’t go back in and put yourself in danger.”
No sooner had she spoken than a massive wave of students—zombies, more like—came swarming out of the academic building, wailing all the way.
Whew. Liang Sheng let out a breath of relief. Mo Qingrou released her arm but kept a tight hold on her hand, afraid she might impulsively dash back inside.
Calming down at last, Liang Sheng recalled the plot from the novel. In truth, it was just some random curtain that had caught fire. But among those rich young masters and ladies, there were idiots who, while trying to put it out, tossed their own textbooks into the flames (she’d strongly suspected it was on purpose when she read it). That ended up burning down one whole classroom, not the entire building. All the shouting and panic were just timid fools joining the hysteria.
And that classroom just happened to be High School Year 1 Class A—the one with Liang Sheng and Su Ze.
Uh-oh. In the original story, the original Liang Sheng had been there too. She, Lu Ziqing, and Su Ze had all gotten trapped inside. In the end, Su Ze had shouldered them both to safety, heroically saving the beauties in a touching display.
This time, she wasn’t there. So apart from Lu Ziqing, the other one was…
Right on cue, she spotted Su Ze charging out at full speed—one arm clamped around Lu Ziqing, Hana slung over his shoulder.
Well, damn. The big male lead sure had some moves. Liang Sheng tugged Mo Qingrou’s hand and hurried over.
“Cough, cough.” Lu Ziqing came to first.
Liang Sheng was a bit puzzled. How had she passed out? The original text said she’d fainted from the smoke, but that didn’t add up—would someone really wake up that fast without any first aid?
Had to be Su Ze’s doing. No doubt about it.
“Ding~” The system chimed.
“Unlocking Heartthrob Value System Canon Law Twenty reward: Shout ‘Makabaka!’ right in your target’s ear to boost their Favorability toward you by thirty points for two hours. After that, it reverts to the original value.”
Makabaka? What kind of weird incantation was that? Teletubbies style?
“Miss Zi Qing… you’re awake?!” Su Ze cried out in delighted surprise, gazing at her with deep affection.
Without waiting for Lu Ziqing to respond, Su Ze set her down. “Sorry, Miss Zi Qing. I had to touch you to save you. My apologies.”
“You… saved me?” Lu Ziqing frowned, incredulous.
“Ding!” Favorability rose sharply.
“Lu Ziqing’s Favorability Toward Su Ze: 23”
“Ding!” Heartthrob Value rose sharply.
“Lu Ziqing’s Heartthrob Value Toward Su Ze: 6”
At that moment, Hana stirred and woke up too. Su Ze treated her the same way, setting her down. “Classmate Hana, I was rude just now, but I had to get you out.”
“Ding~” Favorability increased.
“Hana’s Favorability Toward Su Ze: 3”
Pfft! As expected of the devoted, one-track-mind yandere—only two points up. By that logic, her Heartthrob Value probably hadn’t budged either. Even if it did, it’d be like half a point at most.
Su Ze was baffled. He’d just saved the girl’s life, and she wouldn’t even give him a single Heartthrob Value point? What the hell!
“Are you guys okay?!” Liang Sheng rushed to Lu Ziqing and Hana’s sides.
“Are you alright, Hana?” Liang Sheng made a point of asking Hana again.
Ah! Her Sheng-chan actually cared about her this much! She even asked her specifically!
“Ding~” Favorability increased.
“Hana’s Favorability Toward Liang Sheng: 200+”
“Wah…” A choked sob rose up as Lu Ziqing threw her arms around Liang Sheng’s neck. “Liang Sheng, where were you!? You scared me half to death!”
“Ahh, okay, okay, no crying. Pat pat. Nothing to be scared of.” Liang Sheng fumbled to comfort the Young Miss.
Suddenly, a chill ran down her spine. Looking up, she saw Hana glaring daggers at Lu Ziqing.
“Alright~ my Young Miss, let go already. Let’s have everyone check if you’re hurt.” Terrified, Liang Sheng hurriedly pushed Lu Ziqing away.
Just then, a fleet of cars pulled up outside the school gates. One glance at the lineup, the colors, and the guards’ uniforms told Liang Sheng this had to be Lu Ziqing’s family.
“Hey! Over here! Your family’s Miss Lu is right here!” Liang Sheng bellowed at the top of her lungs. Why had this little tsundere suddenly turned so soft and clingy?
Why was Sheng-chan so gentle with her? Why was she holding her? Could it be… could it be her Sheng-chan liked this awful woman? No, no—she couldn’t just sit there! She had to do something…
