“Tent? The school provides it, no need to buy one,” Liang Sheng muttered to herself. “Better pack extra water, though! What if something happens and I get separated from the group? No water, and I’m done for.”
Liang Sheng scrambled around packing, suddenly struck by her own words. She smacked her forehead. “Right! What if I do get separated from the main group? I need some high-calorie snacks.”
“Huh?” Akino Kazuko chimed in, sounding bored.
“Uh…” Liang Sheng thought for a moment. “Compressed biscuits, beef jerky, pickled veggies… Oh! I just happen to have some beef jerky here!”
That was the perk of being a hardcore foodie who hoarded non-perishables in her room.
“But I don’t have compressed biscuits or pickled veggies,” Liang Sheng sighed, glancing at her own System. “If only you could magic some up for me.”
Akino Kazuko looked troubled.
“Hahaha!” Liang Sheng burst out laughing. “No worries. With tech this advanced, I can just order delivery.”
And so, Liang Sheng pulled up the E Ba To Le app on her phone and placed an order.
Compressed biscuits, pickled veggies, raisins—plus the beef jerky and chocolate she already had in her room. Liang Sheng’s backpack was now bulging at the seams.
“Is this enough?” Akino Kazuko eyed the overstuffed pack with concern. “With your scrawny little frame, you won’t get crushed under all this, will you?”
“No way!” Liang Sheng actually started pinching the flesh on her chest. “Even if the bag gets heavier, can it possibly weigh more than these? Slap the pack on my back, and it’ll balance out just fine!”
Akino Kazuko glanced down at her own modest padding and fixed her host with dead-fish eyes. “Whatever makes you happy…”
“But the pack’s already full,” Akino Kazuko pointed out.
“No problem!” Liang Sheng dragged out a large suitcase from the corner of Room 205, covered in a thick layer of dust. “I’ve got this! So much more convenient—no need to carry it, just pull it along.”
“What else do you have to bring…?” Akino Kazuko asked, baffled. She’d already packed food, drinks, and clothes. What more could there be?
Liang Sheng struck an orchid-finger pose and sauntered into the bathroom, emerging with a bottle of sunscreen. “Hmph~ Of course, I’ve gotta be a cute little pampered piggy girl~ What if I get all tanned? The girls won’t crave my body—er, won’t like me anymore. What then?”
“You’re thinking of everything,” Akino Kazuko said, amused.
“You know it~” Liang Sheng preened smugly.
“Oh, right!” Liang Sheng clapped her hands together, startling her System.
With a mischievous grin, she threw open the wardrobe and pulled out a thick winter cotton-padded jacket.
Akino Kazuko seriously wondered if Liang Sheng had lost her mind. A padded jacket in the heat of summer?
Liang Sheng caught the doubt in Akino Kazuko’s eyes. “Ah, I checked on Baidu earlier. Sure, it’s summer, but nights up in the mountains can get chilly. Better safe than sorry with something this hefty~”
“Anything else?”
Liang Sheng rummaged through drawers and cabinets, hauling out a flashlight, a fruit knife, anti-wolf spray, an Anti-Wolf Electric Baton, tissues, a raincoat, and a bunch of medicines and odds and ends.
“There we go!” Liang Sheng declared, hands on her hips.
“Aren’t you going to try it on your back? See how heavy it is?” Akino Kazuko couldn’t resist. She was convinced her host couldn’t manage it and wanted to see the comedy unfold.
Liang Sheng brimmed with confidence. “Just watch!”
With that, she stepped forward, bent down, and grabbed the massive pack.
“Urgh…”
It didn’t budge an inch.
“Urgh, urgh!”
Still nothing.
Akino Kazuko watched with gleeful anticipation, barely stifling a laugh.
Liang Sheng’s face fell. “I was just testing! Hang on, now I’ll show you my real strength!”
“Mm-hmm~” Akino Kazuko sat on the floor, hugging her knees.
Liang Sheng summoned every ounce of strength she had and finally hoisted the pack up.
“Aha! Ha!”
But joy turned to sorrow in an instant.
Thud!!
In her excitement, Liang Sheng’s hand slipped, and the pack crashed down. Tragically, it landed right on her little foot.
“Ow! Owww!”
Liang Sheng let out a howl like a wolf, clutching her left foot and hopping around the room on one leg.
With a final “thump,” Liang Sheng “heroically perished,” collapsing onto the carpet in Room 205 with a grimace of agony.
“Pfft! Hahahaha!” Akino Kazuko doubled over, gasping for breath between laughs.
“What’re you laughing at, you jerk…” Liang Sheng sniffled, tears streaming down her face, too weak to speak properly.
“You should take some stuff out,” Akino Kazuko suggested, poking Liang Sheng’s toe and eliciting another round of squeals.
Liang Sheng sat back up and grabbed the pack’s strap. “No way. Can’t ditch any of this.”
Liang Sheng, the green-haired woman, rallied once more!
“Huff, huff~” She took several deep breaths, steeling herself.
“Hyaah!”
Up came the pack again.
Alright! Hold it steady, keep calm. Liang Sheng slowly closed her eyes.
Good! Perfect! Now, swing it onto her shoulders!
Clang-clang-clang—crash! Thud! “Ow, crap!”
Liang Sheng sprawled flat on her back.
“Hahaha!!” Akino Kazuko laughed mercilessly at the painful spectacle. “I told you. With those massive boobs of yours, how could the pack possibly be heavier?”
“Hmph!” Liang Sheng huffed, unconvinced. “You’re just jealous of me. Jealous of my boobs—they’re bigger than yours!”
Akino Kazuko shrugged with a cheeky grin, dismissing it.
“Sigh…” Liang Sheng sighed, unzipping the pack and pulling out some clothes. Guess she’d have to make do with less. It was only a week, after all.
The next day at school, Liang Sheng figured a bunch of the rich kids would skip out. To her surprise, almost everyone showed up, bright and early.
They’d griped endlessly yesterday, but deep down, they were excited. These young masters and misses thought mountain camping sounded fun and easy.
“I watched that wilderness survival show yesterday. It’s no big deal,” one boy bragged to a girl beside him. “Worst case, if danger strikes, I’ll protect you~”
Ugh, gross! Right off the bat, force-fed a mouthful of PDA. Liang Sheng hurried away.
“Liang Sheng, why’d you bring so much stuff?” Lu Ziqing looked her up and down.
Liang Sheng grinned sheepishly. “Better safe than sorry…”
“Hmph~” Lu Ziqing huffed. “What’re you scared of? This Young Miss will protect you!”
Liang Sheng nearly snorted. With Miss Lu’s slender arms and legs, she’d be the first one snatched by wolf cubs.
She opened her mouth to reply when an unwelcome guest approached.
