Chapter 24 p3
…
When the scholar flower pancakes were ready, the entire small apartment was filled with their fragrance.
Pei the Red Panda poked her fluffy head out from the blanket, limp. When she transformed into her human form, her cheeks and neck were an alluring crimson.
She raised a hand to run it through her long, curly hair, feeling that her back was soaked in a thin layer of sweat.
The wave of heat from just now seemed to have dissipated with it.
She could clearly feel that she was not yet in her mating season. But, just being close to it, could the reaction already be so sudden and strong?
Was it because she had been scared by the lightning, or was it because…
Pei Rong lazily lifted her eyelids, her red lips slightly parted as she panted lightly to calm herself.
“Boss Pei, the scholar flower pancakes are ready.”
The young woman’s voice sounded, accompanied by the gradual approach of soft footsteps.
Pei the Red Panda’s ears twitched. A certain guilty panic arose in her for no reason, like a small beast’s natural alertness to danger.
Ye Qingyu took a small table and set it up by Pei Rong’s legs, then brought over a plate of scholar flower pancakes and pressed a pair of chopsticks into the woman’s hands.
“Try them.”
After she was done, she turned her head to look and found that Boss Pei’s long, curly hair was a bit messy.
There was fine sweat on her forehead and the tip of her nose, and her cheeks were also flushed. She couldn’t help but be stunned.
It looks like she’s cried, but also like she hasn’t.
“Are you okay?” she asked immediately.
“I’m fine.” Pei Rong’s lashes trembled. She shook her head and raised a hand to tidy her hair.
Her stomach was empty, and the warm fragrance of the scholar flower pancakes stimulated her taste buds. She picked up a piece with her chopsticks, and her sharp, neat, animal-like teeth bit down.
Fragrant and sweet, so delicious.
She let out a contented sigh and finished the entire piece of pancake.
The energy she had consumed while enduring just now was replenished, and her whole body didn’t feel so limp anymore.
“You eat too.”
She looked at the young woman’s gentle, jade-like face and pushed the plate over, feeling that her human was both well-behaved and had worked hard.
Should I reward Ye Qingyu by letting her pet my ears?
A thought struck Pei the Red Panda, but she managed to hold it back.
The afterglow was still there. It was too dangerous.
Ye Qingyu was completely unaware of Pei the Red Panda’s psychological and physiological activities. She just saw the woman eating with relish and felt a certain satisfaction.
She also picked up her chopsticks and ate some to fill her stomach.
Without realizing it, the heavy rain outside the window had stopped.
Ye Qingyu checked the weather forecast; it would turn sunny in the afternoon.
She opened the window and saw that the dark clouds were gone, the sky clear. The damp, cool air after the rain, carrying the fragrance of flowers, rushed in.
Her expression relaxed a little. Just as Ye Qingyu was about to turn and speak, she suddenly heard the woman’s voice.
“Ye Qingyu, I’m going home.”
Ye Qingyu immediately turned back, subconsciously asking, “Not going to stay a little longer?”
She always felt that Boss Pei’s visits to her home were never quite complete.
Last time, she had come happily with the red panda doll, but had ended up getting drunk with her and had left in a hurry while she was passed out.
Today, she had come in a beautiful dress carrying scholar flowers, but had ended up being scared to tears by the lightning and was going home right after eating the pancakes.
“Mhm, I have to go back.” Pei Rong felt sticky and uncomfortable. She just wanted to go back and soak in a hot bath.
“Then I’ll see you out.”
Ye Qingyu sighed softly in her heart, unsure if it was regret or reluctance.
She had clearly had very strong boundaries before, never wanting anyone to set foot in her little home.
Pei Rong threw off the blanket and put on her slippers, belatedly realizing that her steps were a little weak.
“Oh, right.” As she was changing her shoes at the entryway, she suddenly remembered something. “You said before that the painting was originally a gift for me?”
Ye Qingyu paused, then quickly understood her beautiful boss’s meaning. “I’ll get it for you.”
She found a small, exquisite bag, put the picture frame from the desk inside, and accompanied Pei Rong out the door, holding it in her hand.
After the rain, the residential complex was filled with the light fragrance of flowers and grass.
Crystalline raindrops gradually bent the tips of the grass blades, finally falling like pearls, dripping onto the paws of a little black cat.
Ye Qingyu turned her head and saw the soaking wet little black cat. It was lying alone on the grass, its soft ears drooping, like a stray cat that had lost its home.
It seems to be the cat that the security guard adopted.
Her steps paused. Boss Pei beside her seemed to have seen it at the same time and said to the little black cat, “Where’s your owner?”
“Meow…” The little black cat shook the water from its body, then turned and disappeared into the bushes.
The two looked at each other, then continued toward the security booth.
The security guard, just as in the morning, was leaning against the door of the security booth, lost in thought. The scratches on her neck had turned a deep red, but there were new, mottled wounds on her arms. She was soaking wet, as if she had just been searching through the grass and trees in the rain.
Pei Rong’s peach blossom eyes fluttered. She suddenly felt that this scene was somewhat familiar, but she couldn’t remember why.
Ye Qingyu said to the security guard, “I just saw it in the grass right across from the children’s slide.”
The security guard’s glazed eyes flickered, and her voice was hoarse when she spoke. “…Thank you.”
After leaving the residential complex, Ye Qingyu did not see the tricycle she had expected.
“Boss Pei, how are you getting back? Isn’t Sister Luo coming to pick you up?”
Pei Rong shook her head. “Her tricycle is getting maintenance. I’ll take the subway.”
For some reason, Ye Qingyu felt that Boss Pei and the subway did not match at all.
She said, “I’ll call a cab for you.”
Pei the Red Panda’s peach blossom eyes immediately widened. “No.”
“Ye Qingyu, don’t just randomly get into other people’s cars. They might take you to the zoo,” she warned with great worry.
“Huh?” Ye Qingyu took a moment to react, not quite understanding. “They won’t. As long as you set the destination…”
“It’s true,” Pei the Red Panda insisted.
“…Okay, I understand.”
Seeing that Pei Rong was indeed resistant to ride-sharing, Ye Qingyu simply accompanied her on the subway and then walked with her to No. 108, Fluffy Road. Only after the woman had safely entered the small building’s courtyard did she return home the way she had come.
Pushing the door open, she entered. The living room was still filled with the lingering fragrance of scholar flower pancakes. On the sofa, a blanket was in disarray, and a red panda plush toy was nestled alone in a corner.
Without her beautiful boss, the entire home seemed empty.
Ye Qingyu walked over and sat down on the sofa.
She caught sight of the plush toy in her peripheral vision and immediately remembered the question that hadn’t been answered today—did it have a prototype?
As she pondered, she reached out and picked up the plush toy.
She smelled the clear scent of bamboo leaves, which must have been left by Boss Pei when she had hugged it just now.
However, compared to Boss Pei’s usual light fragrance, the scent on the plush toy now was particularly rich, a captivatingly subtle sweetness.
It was as if… as if it contained a kind of primal feminine scent. Smelling it made her feel an inexplicable heat in her chest.
Her eyelashes trembled slightly.
How could I have such a strange thought!
Pushing the thought aside, Ye Qingyu looked at the heart-shaped patch of white fur on its belly and raised a fingertip to touch it.
Over on the other side, Pei the Red Panda had just finished a very enjoyable hot bath.
The stickiness on her body had been washed away, leaving only the lingering scent of bamboo leaves.
The scholar tree was still damp, so she chose to go into her room on the third floor. She transformed into a fragrant little red panda and did a somersault on the soft, large bed.
She lay on her back in a relaxed manner, exposing her soft belly, her paws pawing at the bedsheets, getting ready to sleep.
Her contentedly soft ears suddenly perked up with a swoosh—
Who touched my belly!
She opened her eyes and saw that the entire room was empty, with only her, Pei the Red Panda.
Only the clear breeze from the window blew in, combing through her fluffy fur.
It was just the wind.
Pei the Red Panda comfortably lay back down, preparing to have a sweet dream.
Over on the other side, after poking the white fur, Ye Qingyu’s fingertips then pinched the red panda plush toy’s ears, rubbing them, unable to put it down.
Pei the Red Panda’s eyes suddenly flew open, the tips of her sharp canines exposed. She raised a paw and covered her head.
Who is rubbing my large, furry ears!
