Chapter 23 p2:
In a pitch-black space, even the air was stagnant. Faintly, she could hear water dripping from a stalactite into a bone-chilling pool, making a drip, which was then drowned out by the sound of churning tentacles.
[Pain… It hurts…]
[It hurts so much…]
The suppressed voice was pained. She didn’t know how to relieve it, only repeating over and over: [It hurts, I’m in so much pain…]
[Ji Yulin, I’m in so much pain…]
[Pain,]
The previously powerful octopus was now weakly curled into a ball, unable to hold the woman in her arms any tighter. The tentacle on her shoulder fell limply. Her big head unconsciously rubbed against the other. Although she was so big, she was like an injured puppy who didn’t know how to treat herself, only whimpering and pressing against her master.
[Pain… Pain…]
[Ji, Yulin,] the stumbling voice was a plea, like a coquettish whine or a low howl.
A tentacle rubbed unconsciously, scraping chaotic marks on the ground. The creature who had started to feel wronged at the slightest bump now seemed not to notice at all, bumping against the surrounding rock walls again and again, trying to use other pain to relieve the pain of her severed tentacles.
[It really, really hurts,] the unconscious murmur continued.
[Pain, Ji Yulin, I’m in so much pain.]
She even presented the severed tentacle to Ji Yulin, like a pitiful puppy trying to prove she wasn’t lying.
But what could the woman in her arms do?
The calm and composed features that had shown no panic even when they were stranded on the deserted island were now filled with helplessness.
Although she wasn’t the one who was injured, her face was even paler than Li An’s. She wanted to raise her hands and hug her but was afraid of touching her wound. In the end, she could only let them fall slowly, gripping the ground tightly. The veins on her hands bulged, and her bent knuckles turned white, the bones almost piercing through her thin skin. It was unclear how much strength she was using to hold on.
“Li, Li An,” the slightly hoarse voice tried its best to suppress her emotions but still couldn’t stop trembling.
The octopus’s head rested on her shoulder, her suckers all drooping, without the strength for her usual mischief.
“Li An, An… An An…” the form of address had changed at some point.
A limp tentacle lifted, and after a long moment, it rested on the back of Ji Yulin’s hand, gently pulling the hand that was almost digging into the ground out and then carefully wrapping it in its tentacle.
[Ji Yulin, pain…] It was unclear if this was about herself or to stop Ji Yulin.
Ji Yulin subconsciously wanted to clench her hand again, but her fingertips touched the cool tentacle. In the end, she relaxed, gently holding it. A thousand words were reduced to one sentence, “An An…”
The drawn-out tone was filled with an irrepressible heartache.
[Ji Yulin,] the creature whimpered again. It was a mystery how such a behemoth could make such a pitiful puppy-like sound.
Her big head rubbed against Ji Yulin’s shoulder and neck. Her long hair, which had been wet before, was now damp and a little cold.
But fortunately, the well-sealed suitcase had not let in any water. The moment she had hidden in it, the octopus had first opened it and wrapped Ji Yulin in a thick cloth. As for the wet bedsheets and towels, they had long since been disdainfully thrown into a clear pool of water by the octopus.
[Ji Yulin, pain,] this whimper was definitely about herself.
The tentacle that had just drooped lifted again, insisting on holding it up to Ji Yulin’s eyes.
She was being very bad. Ji Yulin was already heartbroken, and seeing that fierce wound now made her feel even worse.
Her beautiful brows knitted together. Before she could say any words of heartache, her eyes secretly turned red.
“An An…” her voice was very low, the words almost completely blurred, as light as a sigh that would be blown away by the wind. But the cave entrance was deliberately blocked by the octopus, so there was no wind, and the sigh could not dissipate, only swirling in this narrow space and then falling heavily.
The big octopus buried her head in her shoulder, in so much pain that she didn’t even have the strength to cry out, only managing to mumble a sentence.
[Blow,]
“Hmm?” Ji Yulin didn’t quite understand. She had never been treated like this before, nor had she ever coaxed anyone like this. For a moment, she couldn’t react.
[Blow,] the creature could only emphasize her words. The tentacle lifted and lifted, finally managing to reach Ji Yulin’s lips, and she whimpered, [Pain, blow.]
The other finally understood. Without the slightest hesitation, she lowered her head. But the tentacle suddenly dodged, as if remembering something. The severed tentacle turned to the other side but couldn’t reach the pool, as it was only a short stump.
The tentacle on the ground moved, struggling to the edge of the pool. She still held Ji Yulin steady with one tentacle, then struggled to turn sideways, and finally poked the severed tentacle in.
This was an underground cave. Although there were pools of water everywhere, each one was more bone-chillingly cold than the last. The moment the severed tentacle was poked in, an even more intense pain flared up.
The octopus trembled in pain.
Ji Yulin didn’t know what she was doing at first. By the time she realized, it was too late. Her hand, which had been about to stop her, froze in mid-air, still not daring to touch.
Perhaps the pain had numbed her. The octopus actually persisted in swishing it a few times until it was clean before lifting it up again.
[Blow,] the creature not only didn’t know she was wrong but was very righteous.
Even with such a weak tone, a hint of spoiledness could be heard.
Ji Yulin was both angry and amused. The blush at the corners of her eyes faded a little. She lowered her head and saw the fierce wound again, the pink flesh still beading with blood. The last bit of amusement vanished. Before she could say anything else, the creature urged, [Blow.]
[Pain…]
The drawn-out tone captured all of Ji Yulin’s attention. She stopped thinking about anything else and lowered her head to blow.
A cool breeze brushed against the wound. It was unclear if it had any effect, but the octopus did whimper a little less. Her big head rested on Ji Yulin again, like a big dog that had exhausted all its strength, pitifully pressing against her.
[It hurts so much, I hate it.]
The slightly agitated tone was like a child’s complaint.
[Ji Yulin, you have to help me beat it up.]
The bullied child was now coming to the adult to complain.
Ji Yulin was stunned, unable to tell if this was the naïve little octopus from this life or the deep-sea behemoth from the last.
In her previous life, she and Li An had not been present when the sunflower crisis erupted. They had survived on the deserted island for a long time, almost two months, before they were found.
Only after coming ashore did she learn from Ling Yun that the plants in the town had suddenly mutated, able to pull sleeping people into a dream and devour their life force.
But fortunately, with Ling Yun and the others there, they had sounded the alarm in time after waking up, reducing the number of casualties by more than half. The town was eventually covered by a sea of sunflowers, and then the Thirteenth District sent people to completely eradicate them. When it was written into the Research Institute’s archives, it was only rated as B-class.
This was also the reason why Ji Yulin had not been in a hurry to leave when she saw the strangeness.
But now, not only had the crisis come early, but the level of danger had also multiplied. The thunderstorm, the sudden high tide, the darkness, and the sunflowers that shouldn’t have affected the little octopus.
Ji Yulin’s thoughts were in a mess, as if she were lost in a fog.
The only thing she could be sure of was that she had never truly understood Li An. There seemed to always be a layer of paper between them. Even after they had done the most intimate of things, she still knew very little about her.
“An An…” the dazed voice announced her distraction.
The octopus, who was used to being spoiled, how could she tolerate this? A good tentacle slapped the ground, expressing her dissatisfaction.
Ji Yulin suddenly came back to her senses. Before she could say anything, she saw the severed tentacle approach, pressing against Ji Yulin’s lips.
An enticing voice followed.
[Lick, Ji Yulin.]
[Lick it, and it won’t hurt anymore.]
For the first time, Ji Yulin showed hesitation at Li An’s request. She paused, not moving.
This made the octopus even more dissatisfied. She whimpered and called out, [Ji Yulin, pain.]
[It hurts so much, I’m in so much pain.]
[I want you to lick it, I want you to lick it, Ji Yulin.]
The severed tentacle pressed against her lips, the full lips were flattened, stained with a bewitching blue blood. Ji Yulin’s eyelashes trembled, and in the end, she still opened her mouth slightly.
The triumphant creature eagerly pushed in. Ji Yulin was forced to tilt her head back and open her mouth, her entire mouth filled with the severed tentacle, making a whimpering sound.
And the creature, who was pushing her luck, whispered against her, [Lick it, lick it, and it won’t hurt anymore.]
[Lick it.]
The tip of her tongue touched the wound. The previously frozen and stiff stump now tingled with a dense pain, as if it were being licked by a kitten’s barbed tongue, a strange numbness spreading.
The severed tentacle pushed in deeper and deeper, like a child using an injury to be a rascal, completely filling her mouth. The remaining suckers attached to her upper palate, refusing to move back at all.
[Just like this, this way it won’t hurt.]
[Ji Yulin, I’m in so much pain.]
[Pain.]
The jumbled words were a mix of coaxing and deception, all for the purpose of going a step further.
Ji Yulin knew this but enjoyed it, letting the abnormally sweet blood flow down her throat.
Seeing this, the other tentacles inevitably became agitated, slapping the surroundings in dissatisfaction, clamoring to join in, but they were forcibly held back by the octopus and could only lie there unwillingly.
Ji Yulin glanced at them from the corner of her eye, pushed the octopus slightly, and managed to create a little distance.
The creature immediately showed her dissatisfaction.
But Ji Yulin said in a hoarse voice, “They want to come up too.”
“How about you stuff them all in?”
“I can take it.”
uhhh… 😲
