49. “You’ll Take Responsibility, Won’t You?”
Reina was woken up by the sound of her own breathing.
Or rather, the purring sound she made unconsciously after her dragonification. This purring sound was very different from human snoring, and was eighty percent similar to a kitten’s purr.
“Purr— Purr—”
Her small body rose and fell with each breath.
Actually, high-ranking dragons could survive without oxygen.
This would put their entire body into a mode similar to an anaerobic state. It was said that this would make them irritable and prone to anger, which was one of the reasons why those wild dragons sealed underground were so furious—they might even become enraged simply because “you disturbed my sleep” and destroy everything they saw upon waking.
Reina, sleeping in the most luxurious bedchamber in the world, naturally had no such worries.
The first thing she thought of when she woke up was whether Fred, that arrogant necromancer, was dead.
His threat was far greater than she had imagined. Fortunately, Reina had managed to stall until support arrived.
If she thought about it carefully, Reina found that her state at that time was a bit strange… not her mentality, but her strength. Logically, Vassal Instinct shouldn’t have given her that much magic power. Perhaps Calysia had done something, transmitting an excessive amount of magic power, which was why she could suddenly reach the exaggerated level of 176.
—In any case, Fred’s combat power exceeded expectations.
Although with Calysia’s help, dealing with the injured Fred was no problem, she still wanted to personally confirm whether Fred was dead. If this battle was a failure and Fred escaped, the morale of the [God Slaying Society] would be hit hard, and the passive situation would not be changed in a short time, which would eventually lead to a major disaster.
Reina climbed out of bed. Although she didn’t really want to leave the soft quilt, her fair jade-like body was tightly wrapped in a thin nightgown. The outside of the quilt was a pleasant coolness she had never felt before. Reina rubbed her thighs and arms against it, letting out a comfortable hum.
Just as she was about to stretch and start her day, she found that her eyes were covered with a white cloth, wrapped tightly, like a protective measure after eye surgery.
Oh, right.
I can’t see.
—After all, she had used [All-Seeing Eye] twice last time, so she should remain blind for a while. She wasn’t sure how long it would last.
Reina subconsciously touched her chest.
Although in a fully activated combat mode, she could identify the opponent’s aura and movements and defeat them, she couldn’t see corners and various obstacles. The reason she dared to continue fighting while blind was all because of the strength of the dragon’s body, which could ignore those ruins and sharp stones.
But if she was at home, it would be quite inconvenient.
—Could the [God Slaying Society] function without my help?
Could these people really analyze Fred? How much information could they get? Was the Dark Elf Queen taking action?
Thinking of this, Reina remembered what Fred had said.
If she guessed correctly, both the Dark Elf Queen and the Beast King should be beneficiaries of the [Gate of the Celestial Realm], yet they didn’t remember the past.
Even when Reina had asked Kribi alone, he also said he didn’t know.
If even Kribi’s and the Beast King’s level 120 were obtained through the Goddess of Light, then as long as she traced back carefully, she might be able to find more clues about the Shadow of God and the past.
—I must pull myself together immediately.
“[Gravity]”
Reina tried to channel gravity, so she could sense her surroundings through the magic fluctuations, thus playing a role similar to “radar.”
But Reina underestimated the side effects of blindness. If she stumbled around like a “brute force” person, the Dragon King’s Palace would probably be in trouble.
She accidentally almost tripped and fell. Fortunately, her dragon tail supported her on the floor at the critical moment, allowing her to sit back on the bed, avoiding a disgraceful and tragic fate. Only then did Reina realize that she wasn’t wearing shoes and had been barefoot all this time.
For a moment, Calysia’s image appeared in her mind. She began to complain about why her wife wasn’t by her side, but had left her on the bed.
She touched her belly.
She sat on the bed in a duck-like posture, thought for a while, then stood up again, and in one go, walked to the main door of the bedchamber—and then, when she reached out her hand, she grabbed a metal railing. The main door of the bedchamber was actually sealed!
Reina grabbed the railing, at a loss for a moment.
Just then, Reina felt a familiar and reassuring aura coming from behind her. At the same time, Calysia’s familiar scent wafted from her neck to her nose. Reina whimpered, and was held by the waist, gently pulled, and picked up.
“Little Cal?!”
It turned out that Calysia had never left.
She had been by my side all along, hiding her aura so I wouldn’t find her.
Reina unconsciously let out a sigh of relief.
“You… never saw me?”
After placing Reina back on the bed, Calysia asked softly.
“Dummy, you hid your temperature. How could I see you?”
Reina complained. She didn’t know if her eyes were looking at Calysia, so she felt a little awkward.
Suddenly, she sensed a feeling of anger and sadness emanating from Calysia. Then, Reina felt Calysia take her hand, cover her with the quilt, and at the same time, she also got into bed, her cute little hand reaching out and touching Reina’s already swollen belly.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together. Reina could clearly feel the temperature of her body… For a vassal, the master’s temperature would make her particularly excited and submissive. If it weren’t for her clone’s existence, Reina felt that she definitely couldn’t maintain her current rationality.
“Your eyes, do they hurt?”
“No, I don’t feel anything, I just can’t see.”
After Reina finished speaking, Calysia didn’t ask any more questions, as if some invisible force was preventing her from speaking.
She wanted to say something, but didn’t dare.
…When did she become so passive?
“How long did I sleep?”
Calysia shook her head, not intending to answer this question.
Seeing her remain silent, Reina continued to ask:
“Why did you lock me in here?”
“Because you’re my thing,” Calysia said, unsure if she was acting spoiled or angry.
“My thing, you’re not allowed to run around.”
Reina felt a little surprised, not sure if it was the gentle tickling on her belly or if she was amused by Calysia.
For some reason, Reina felt that this egg was about to come out of her body. An inexplicable anxiety arose in her heart, making her twist her body and curl up in Calysia’s arms.
She rubbed her dragon horns against Calysia’s shoulder.
“You’ll take responsibility, won’t you?”
