66. Guess
“The Pope?”
The Saintess pondered.
“Yes, it was the Pope!”
A Holy Knight said:
“That old man smiled at us and said something like, ‘The Goddess of Light will definitely come here.’ So we set up an ambush.”
“Which church are you from? I’ll explain the situation later.”
“I’m from the Gray Cross…”
The Saintess stepped forward and instructed Pesa about something, mostly about the Pope.
Reina was also shocked.
The Pope, one of the strongest humans, the Saintess’s father, and a member of the [Gate of the Celestial Realm], had died in this history because he had clashed with the Four Kings of the Realms and fought against the demon army for three days and three nights, exhausted. Of course, there were various accounts of his ending, but in short, his death had been confirmed.
If she hadn’t suddenly remembered what Serra’s spirit had told her, she would have thought it was the work of the necromancer Fred. After all, only that person could so unscrupulously resurrect humans. But the current Reina was more inclined to believe that this was an undiscovered conspiracy.
How interesting…
Haven’t I only been asleep for a dozen days?
While she was thinking, Reina suddenly felt a hand reach out beside her. Her attention returned, and she discovered that it was the half-orc mother, touching her arm with her fluffy tail.
She said in an extremely grateful voice, “Are you truly the Goddess of Light, my lady?”
Reina didn’t know how to answer for a moment and even felt a little guilty, because it wasn’t her who had acted just now, but Calysia who had helped her.
“Hehe… no matter who you are, I think you must be a reliable mother.”
Hearing this, Reina immediately blushed.
—She didn’t have a daughter yet, how could she be a mother? The dragon egg hadn’t even been laid!
“Mmph… not at all…”
The cat-folk mother continued with a smile:
“I can see the gentleness of a female in you. Your daughter and mate must be very happy.”
Suddenly, an image of a little dragon, with its mouth open, waiting to be fed, appeared in Reina’s mind. And under her constant nurturing and feeding, it grew into a giant dragon. She found that she was actually looking forward to her daughter’s healthy growth… provided she had a daughter now. For a moment, she found that she wasn’t so averse to having children anymore.
Calysia might be right.
Who wouldn’t want to be a good mother?
“It’s not that…”
“Of course it is~”
This was the Saintess’s voice. She had already finished giving her instructions and had even scolded the girl named Pesa.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Reina said half-jokingly.
But unexpectedly, Calysia also came closer, wrapping her arms around Reina’s waist, as if wanting to show off in front of the cat-folk mother. Seeing this, the cat-folk mother understood, covered her mouth, and smiled:
“What a harmonious and loving family~”
Reina felt like her head was about to explode. She swayed her body angrily and muttered:
“Who’s her wife…”
“I haven’t said anything yet,” Calysia said, feeling a little wronged.
“Hee hee~” Agnes leaned against Reina.
Ann stood beside the three of them, using a crystal that recorded images to permanently preserve this scene.
Although she didn’t know what was happening, Reina was certain that these three had some special connection and had colluded while she was asleep for the past ten days!
…
To prevent these dummies from disturbing her thoughts, Reina spent the rest of the journey focusing on how to deal with the Pope, this sudden crisis.
Reina was afraid that the Pope had faked his death and would steal the Saintess’s thunder, perhaps even becoming her opponent… What she wanted to know more was the reason for the Pope’s sudden appearance. In any case, she would definitely arrange a meeting and figure out what was going on with the “hero.”
After passing through the deserted streets and parting with the cat-folk mother and daughter, a white castle rose from the ground. The building, with its spherical main body, looked a bit comical, like a large thatched hut made of stone. But according to the orcish designer, this castle was built to replicate a “camp,” to give the orcs a feeling of “home.”
Reina remained skeptical.
Similar to Norville, Whitesburg’s internal structure and layout were similar, with only a significant difference in size.
With her identity as Calysia’s assistant, Reina came to the top-floor office, pushed open the door, and found that everyone who had been to the Hundred-Layer Purgatory was here…
…including Sophia.
After Agnes pushed the wheelchair in, everyone’s gaze shifted to Reina, as if they were all waiting for her answer.
Reina cleared her throat:
“Since the Dragon King is also here, I’ll explain the current situation.”
An image of Fred’s somewhat disgusting voice and his iconic smiling mask suddenly appeared in Reina’s mind.
“At all costs, increase the overall combat power of the God Slaying Society.”
“Why?” Mura was the first to question, seemingly having her eye on Reina.
“On the surface, our only enemies are a few members of the Shadow of God. But in reality, based on the interrogation, our capture of Fred hasn’t hindered the enemy’s plans at all. They still have absolute confidence in destroying the Four Realms.”
Calysia kept nodding in agreement.
“Then what kind of enemy is it?” Kribi raised a hand.
“It’s currently unknown, but it will definitely be more troublesome than we imagined…”
“…”
After she finished speaking, everyone lowered their heads and began to think, whispering amongst themselves.
After the meeting, Calysia, following Reina’s guidelines and assigned tasks, was already quite proficient as the President’s assistant of the God Slaying Society. And in handling certain matters, even Reina felt inferior. She really had no confidence in facing the next enemy—Dragon Slayer.
After the meeting, Liya, White Scale, and Sophia met with Calysia privately, mainly to discuss the order and date of the interrogation. After confirming, Sophia also talked to Calysia alone about the necromancer.
When everything was settled, Reina planned to have her clone return to the human world with the Saintess and start investigating the Pope and the anomalies surrounding Agnes—but Calysia hesitantly asked her to go home with her.
Considering that she had already established a romantic relationship with Calysia, Reina didn’t refuse. After avoiding her gaze, she followed Calysia through the portal and returned to the Dragon King’s Palace.
Reina’s main body was already waiting in the Throne Room.
But there was a problem.
Reina discovered that the one who had returned home with Calysia wasn’t just her clone.
“No, why are you here too, Agnes?!” One of Reina’s hands was held by Calysia, while Agnes’s small hand was on her shoulder, gently massaging it.
“Guess? Goddess~”
