Chapter 18
This is me?
This is actually me?
Xu Qingtang could hardly believe her eyes.
The video became shaky towards the end, then went black, much like Xu Qingtang’s current mood. Only silence remained.
After a long while, she deflated like a popped balloon, her lips moving, her embarrassment evident. “Sorry, I thought it was you…”
Any more words would seem pale and feeble at this moment.
After a pause, Xu Qingtang simply said, “Thanks for last night.”
Gu Yizhi got up from the bed and tidied her long hair in front of the dressing mirror. “It’s fine. You’re quite quiet when you’re drunk.”
Xu Qingtang breathed a sigh of relief and asked symbolically, “Am I?”
“Of course not,” Gu Yizhi turned around. “Miss Xu, aren’t you a straight woman? Why did you kiss and hug me last night, and even try to take my clothes off?”
Xu Qingtang: ?
She had seen the kissing and hugging with her own eyes, so she couldn’t deny it. But as for taking her clothes off, Xu Qingtang didn’t believe it for a second.
Xu Qingtang pursed her lips. “I can get a little crazy when I’m drunk, but I don’t think I’d go that far…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but she believed Gu Yizhi would understand.
Sure enough, Gu Yizhi’s fine eyebrows raised slightly. “Are you saying I’m lying to you?”
Xu Qingtang, of course, denied it. “I didn’t mean that.”
Gu Yizhi’s gaze studied her for a few seconds, then she suddenly smiled. She picked up the phone on the desk, stood up, and seemed to be tapping something on the screen. Then, she held the phone up in front of Xu Qingtang, and a video began to play.
In a bright and spacious room, a woman in a qipao was holding a phone, her body swaying. She flicked her hair in a very slick and sassy way and smiled at the camera. “Hello everyone, I’m Popeye Xu-Diga. Hmm… why is there a spinach over there…”
The screen then spun, and the woman straddled Gu Yizhi, messily tearing off her jacket. “This spinach leaf is quite easy to peel…”
The video ended shortly after.
Xu Qingtang, of course, recognized the person in it as herself.
She was dumbfounded.
She didn’t say there was this part…
Then, Gu Yizhi very thoughtfully filled her in on the content that wasn’t recorded last night—Xu Qingtang had insisted she was Popeye and wanted to record her heroic house-building posture, and then spent the whole night tearing at Gu Yizhi’s clothes.
Gu Yizhi put her phone away, her emotions unreadable. “Do you believe me now, Miss Diga?”
Xu Qingtang was speechless for a long time.
She was about to die of embarrassment.
“Um, I’m very sorry about last night. I didn’t know I would be like this. Hmm…” Xu Qingtang’s eyes shifted to Gu Yizhi’s phone. She felt she had to do some damage control. “Could you please delete the video?”
Xu Qingtang rarely drank. When she went out, she usually drank juice. She was rarely drunk, let alone throwing a drunken fit.
If she had known she would have to face those two videos in the morning, Xu Qingtang would have preferred to die in a drunken stupor last night.
But then again, what was the difference between now and being dead?
“Of course,” Gu Yizhi deleted the video in front of her and even handed her the phone. “You can check.”
This generous gesture made Xu Qingtang even more embarrassed. She moved closer to the bed and explained, “I was just drunk last night. I didn’t mean to offend you by doing those things. Maybe, at that time, I really thought I was seeing… uh, spinach.”
“I see,” Gu Yizhi put the phone in her pocket, crossed her long legs, and stated emotionlessly, “But the spinach was indeed kissed and hugged by you, and you took its clothes off and slept with it for a night. And…”
The “and” made Xu Qingtang’s heart skip a beat.
And what?
Gu Yizhi continued, “So many people were watching last night. I’ve completely lost face. Tell me, what should we do?”
Xu Qingtang was very cooperative. “I’m very sorry… You tell me, whatever you say goes.”
Xu Qingtang could completely understand this feeling. Right now, she had the urge to bang her head against the wall.
Gu Yizhi’s voice rose at the end. “Really?”
Xu Qingtang: “Really.”
“Alright,” Gu Yizhi said. “I’ll tell you when I’ve thought of something.”
Xu Qingtang let out a breath. Seeing that the matter was finally over, she quickly got off the bed and rushed into the bathroom. She splashed some water on her face to calm herself down, but the more she tried not to think about it, the more the images from those two videos squeezed into her mind…
Gu Yizhi watched her back, a slight smile appearing on her previously tense face.

In the afternoon, Xu Qingtang composed herself and went to the theater. Her senior apprentice-sister had just finished a performance and was walking out of the rehearsal hall with the troupe leader.
The three of them met. The troupe leader was slightly surprised. “Qingtang, you didn’t go to the art exhibition?”
“Yes,” Xu Qingtang smiled embarrassedly. “I fell asleep yesterday, and my head hurt a little when I woke up.”
The troupe leader smiled and said a few more words. After he returned to his office, her senior apprentice-sister asked, “What art exhibition?”
After Xu Qingtang told her the truth, her senior apprentice-sister comforted her, “It’s fine, if you can’t go, you can’t go. We still have to have dinner with the people from Zhishang company tonight.”
Xu Qingtang was slightly taken aback. “Why?”
“A collaboration,” her senior apprentice-sister walked with her to the backstage area. “They’ve sponsored a lot of money. In the future, we’ll have to provide tickets to Zhishang for our performances, and…”
And Zhishang’s designs for the second half of the year would be themed around opera culture, and their theater would have to cooperate with the promotion.
As for the details of the cooperation, her senior apprentice-sister didn’t know either.
Xu Qingtang practiced with her colleagues in the rehearsal hall all afternoon. In the middle of it, Tang Gui called her, her voice particularly excited.
“Holy shit!”
Xu Qingtang could guess what she was going to say just by listening. She held her forehead. “Don’t say it. Just consider me dead.”
Tang Gui still couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement and asked, “What’s going on with you two?”
Just as Xu Qingtang was about to speak, Tang Gui interrupted her. “Wait, wait, wait, don’t. Qingtang, I have to go to a social event tonight. I heard it’s with your theater. Are you going to be there?”
Xu Qingtang hummed in agreement. “What’s up?”
“Nothing then,” Tang Gui laughed. “Don’t tell me. I’ll listen to it live tonight.”
Xu Qingtang: “…”
After the evening performance, her senior apprentice-sister was in charge of booking a place. She sent the KTV location in the group chat, then pulled Xu Qingtang along with her, saying expectantly, “I wonder if CEO Gu from Zhike will be there.”
Better not. Xu Qingtang thought.
Just the sight of Gu Yizhi made her feel awkward all over now.
xx KTV.
After the two parties met and exchanged pleasantries, Xu Qingtang noticed Tang Gui at the end. They exchanged a look and sat down in a corner.
A waiter pushed in a cart of drinks and snacks. Someone turned on the sound system, and the atmosphere immediately livened up. Tang Gui speared a piece of watermelon with a pick, and while eating, she took out her phone, clicked on that video, and enjoyed it again. She turned to Xu Qingtang and said, “Fess up, what’s going on between you and her?”
Xu Qingtang said softly, “It’s just that.”
Tang Gui said, “What do you mean, ‘just that’?”
“It’s not what you think,” Xu Qingtang sighed. “She’s just Lin Huaijia’s white moonlight. Don’t you remember?”
Tang Gui let out another “holy shit.” “What did you say? Our CEO Gu is Lin-dog’s white moonlight? Oh, right, right, they’re both surnamed Gu. How could I forget?”
“Then you two…” Tang Gui’s eyes were ambiguous.
Xu Qingtang said righteously, “There’s nothing between us. I was just drunk last night, and she’s not interested in me either. Straight, straight, you understand?”
“Really?” Tang Gui scrolled through her phone, compared something, and said, “But I think the way she looks at you is quite affectionate.”
Gu Yizhi’s eyes were long, narrow, and bright, with distinct aegyo-sal, and her brow bone was high and deep… Xu Qingtang was dismissive. “With those eyes, she’d look affectionate even at a dog.” (aegyo-sal: It refers to the small puffy area of flesh right under the eyes)
Tang Gui clicked her tongue twice, marveling at how small the world was. “To think our CEO Gu is Lin-dog’s white moonlight. How pitiful, to be coveted by a dog. But—”
Her eyes turned to Xu Qingtang. “You’re pretty amazing, Qingtang. I never thought that even though you look so thin and weak, you’d have the aura of a top, which is rare in the lesbian circle.”
What do you mean, thin and weak?
What do you mean, actually have?
Xu Qingtang emphasized, “I am a top, a rare top in the lesbian circle!”
“You don’t believe me?”
“I believe you.”
This voice was clearly not Tang Gui’s. Xu Qingtang was stunned. She looked up and saw Gu Yizhi standing beside them, her smoky gray suit slightly open, revealing a well-fitting, exquisite white shirt underneath. The colorful lights of the KTV shone on her long, slender figure.
Tang Gui was a little nervous. “CEO Gu?”
Gu Yizhi smiled kindly at Tang Gui. “I have something to say to Miss Xu.”
Tang Gui quickly vacated her seat and joined her colleagues at the song selection station. “Alright, alright, you two talk.”
Xu Qingtang looked at her friend’s unhesitating back, was silent for a moment, then looked up and asked Gu Yizhi, “Why are you here?”
Gu Yizhi sat down. “Can’t I be here?”
Xu Qingtang moved further into the corner and adopted Tang Gui’s form of address. “Of course, you can. CEO Gu, what did you want to say to me?”
Gu Yizhi frowned. “Is my name that hard to pronounce?”
Xu Qingtang explained, “Everyone calls you that. It would be impolite for me to just call you Gu Yizhi all the time.”
Gu Yizhi didn’t say anything more.
On the other side, a colleague was singing “Princess” with a broken heart. Xu Qingtang felt her ears were being tortured. A message from Tang Gui came through on her phone: [Sister, hang in there.]
Xu Qingtang subconsciously glanced at Gu Yizhi again.
That person was acting strangely, sometimes looking at her, sometimes at her phone. Xu Qingtang found it odd and asked, “What are you doing?”
Gu Yizhi: “Buying a dog.”
Xu Qingtang: “…Huh?”
Gu Yizhi: “I want to see if the way I look at a dog is really that affectionate.”
Xu Qingtang: “…”
She tried her best to maintain a smile. “Please, continue.”
“Forget it, we’ll talk about it later.” Gu Yizhi picked up a glass of wine, slowly drank it, her gaze slowly falling on Xu Qingtang, a smile forming on her lips. “Let’s talk about this morning’s matter first.”
Xu Qingtang felt that at this moment, Gu Yizhi was like a seductive fox spirit, especially when she pursed her red lips and stared at someone. It was as if she was about to pounce in the next second and devour them, bones and all.
She leaned back. “You’ve thought of something?”
“What are you hiding from?” Gu Yizhi tilted her head slightly. “Miss Xu isn’t thinking of going back on her word, is she?”
Xu Qingtang’s face was sincere. “Of course not.”
Gu Yizhi drank another glass of wine, looking relaxed and casual. She first asked, “Are you very familiar with the lesbian circle?”
“…” Xu Qingtang: “A little.”
“What a coincidence. I’m also very curious about the lesbian circle.”
Gu Yizhi slowly leaned towards Xu Qingtang, her warm breath approaching, mixed with a faint smell of alcohol. “I really want to try the rare top in the lesbian circle.”
