Chapter 39 p2
The two of them got out of the car. Xu Qingtang’s hand was held in Gu Yizhi’s palm. As they walked to the hotel entrance, Xu Qingtang suddenly heard someone calling her from a distance.
Xu Qingtang looked in the direction of the sound and saw an old lady in a red cotton coat walking over from a distance, her face a little flushed. When she got closer, her eyes darted back and forth between them. “Little Xu? Is that really you?”
Xu Qingtang immediately recognized the old lady who had been making a scene at the hospital. Her heart turned cold, but she didn’t let go of Gu Yizhi’s hand and politely called out, “Auntie Xu.”
“I thought it looked like you from a distance. Who is this?”
“My girlfriend.” Xu Qingtang said firmly.
The old lady’s expression was a little strange, but in the end, she didn’t say anything, just waved her hand. “Alright then. I won’t take up your time. I still have to go to the hospital.”
According to the old lady, she felt that the doctors in Lin City were not good, so she had transferred to a hospital here. Xu Qingtang guessed that she probably wanted her son to change places and get away from the people and things there.
When they reached the hotel lobby, the sound of the wind and snow disappeared from their ears. Gu Yizhi pressed the elevator button and asked as she swiped the card, “Do you know Teacher?”
“It’s the patient who jumped from the building that I told you about last time.”
Gu Yizhi turned her head and asked, “You’re not afraid?”
Xu Qingtang: “A little, but I think… my mom probably already knows.”
Perhaps because she hadn’t seen Teacher Qi for a while, Xu Qingtang’s thoughts were clearer than when she was in Lin City. From various clues, she guessed that Teacher Qi might already know about them.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have reacted so strongly and forced her to go on a blind date.
Gu Yizhi held her hand and walked towards the room, thought for a moment, “Our matter is not urgent. We can wait a little longer.”
At this point, Gu Yizhi paused and turned to look at her. “But you can’t run, and you can’t hide from me.”
Xu Qingtang suddenly smiled and teased her, “What if I run?”
“Then you won’t have a wife.”
Xu Qingtang deliberately shrank her shoulders. “So scary~”
Gu Yizhi laughed. “You’re so silly.”
Xu Qingtang shrugged. “Why not cute?” Then, she thought for a few seconds and smiled at Gu Yizhi. “Actually, I’ll believe whatever you say, so next time, please say I’m sexy.”
When they entered the room, Xu Qingtang suddenly received a voice message from Tang Gui. She glanced at Gu Yizhi. “Xiao Gui.” Then she answered.
Tang Gui’s drunken voice came from the other end. “Qing, Qingtang?”
“Xiao Gui? You’ve been drinking?” Xu Qingtang frowned. “Where are you?”
“I… I’m at home,” Tang Gui’s voice was slurred. “I’m so angry. That bastard Jiang Wan, she… she… she’s actually wuwu…”
Then Tang Gui’s voice weakened. After a rustle on the other end, Jiang Wan’s voice sounded again. “Little Qingtang? It’s me, Jiang Wan. She’s fine, just drunk. I’m with her. Don’t worry.”
After hanging up, Xu Qingtang couldn’t help but glance at Gu Yizhi.
Gu Yizhi asked, amused, “What’s wrong?”
“Let me ask you something,” Xu Qingtang leaned in front of Gu Yizhi with a serious expression. “Does Jiang Wan have many little sisters?”
Gu Yizhi shook her head. “She’s an only child.”
Xu Qingtang: …
Xu Qingtang rephrased her question. “Not siblings, but lovers. Do you understand? Although she’s your friend, you have to tell me.”
It was obvious that there was something going on between Jiang Wan and Tang Gui recently, but Tang Gui had once said that she was the type to be a flower butterfly in a field of flowers. Don’t be fooled by Tang Gui’s old-driver appearance. In fact, she was not much more experienced than her in this area.
Xu Qingtang felt it was necessary to ask clearly, lest her sister be deceived.
Gu Yizhi: “She’s had a few girlfriends in the past, but she hasn’t dated in the past year or two.”
Xu Qingtang continued to press, “What about people other than girlfriends?”
Gu Yizhi: “None.”
Xu Qingtang breathed a sigh of relief, put her phone aside, and said, “Alright.”
Gu Yizhi flicked her hair. “So concerned about others.”
“Not just others, of course, there’s you too,” Xu Qingtang sat down beside her, her fingers twirling her curly hair, and asked, “You haven’t said yet. When did you start to like me? How come I didn’t know at all?”
Not only that, she didn’t even have much of an impression of Gu Yizhi.
Gu Yizhi said softly, “So you really forgot me.”
Xu Qingtang: …
She turned over, straddled Gu Yizhi’s lap, her hands on her straight shoulders, and coaxed, “Maybe I have some impression. Why don’t you tell me?”
Gu Yizhi held her and smiled. “You want to hear it that much?”
Xu Qingtang was very honest. “Curious.”
“I’m also very curious.”
Xu Qingtang: “Huh?”
Gu Yizhi pulled her into her arms, leaned close to her ear, her breath warm. “So shall we say it together?”
Xu Qingtang had thought that Gu Yizhi’s story would be related to a gathering organized by Lin Huaijia, but on the contrary, it was not at all.
Gu Yizhi and Xu Qingtang’s first meeting was on a rainy day, when she had accompanied her aunt to the Peking Opera theater to watch Peking Opera.
Xu Qingtang’s voice trembled a little. She propped herself up on Gu Yizhi’s shoulder and asked, “So, was it because I was dressed beautifully that day that you were suddenly attracted?”
Gu Yizhi kissed her. “No.”
At that time, she was drenched by the rain and was a mess.
The story had just begun, but Xu Qingtang couldn’t hold on any longer and lay weakly on Gu Yizhi. “Wait, let’s talk about it later.”
Gu Yizhi’s other hand gently stroked her hair, her voice laced with laughter. “Great top Xu, can’t you be killed but not insulted?”
Xu Qingtang: “…”
How could she say it?
Expanding into new territory, she’s a little not used to it?
When she had recovered, Gu Yizhi refused to continue. She touched her face and said, “Hold on longer next time, and I’ll tell you more.”
Xu Qingtang scoffed. “I’m suddenly not so interested in knowing anymore.”
Gu Yizhi nodded. “Alright.”
Xu Qingtang: “…Alright, you call the shots.”
In fact, she still really wanted to know.
The next day, Xu Qingtang and Gu Yizhi woke up very early. After breakfast, Xu Qingtang pulled Gu Yizhi out to go shopping. There was nothing to buy, but she just really wanted to go.
In the end, after looking and looking, Xu Qingtang was attracted by a claw machine in a corner. Unfortunately, her luck was bad, and she got no return on her investment. But she was a bad player with a big addiction and refused to let Gu Yizhi help. In the end, the staff couldn’t stand it anymore and let her pick one from inside.
Xu Qingtang was not polite and picked a small fox of a medium size.
When they got back to the car, Xu Qingtang looked at the fox doll and felt annoyed the more she looked at it. “Little fox, little fox, why are you as annoying as someone?”
Gu Yizhi raised an eyebrow. Xu Qingtang quickly made up for it and kissed the fox. “Also as cute as someone.”
Gu Yizhi suddenly found the doll very annoying. She took it from Xu Qingtang’s arms and put it in the back of the car. “It’s dirty. Don’t kiss it.”
Xu Qingtang looked back at the lonely doll and clicked her tongue. “Ah, and also as jealous as someone.”
Gu Yizhi laughed, raised her hand and pinched Xu Qingtang’s earlobe. “Then do you know that someone really wants to kiss you right now?”
Xu Qingtang leaned over and kissed her first. “Now I know.”
*
Xu Qingtang’s estimation was correct. At the end of December, she and her senior apprentice-sister returned to Lin City.
Xu Qingtang first met a circle of people, then went home with her suitcase.
Perhaps because Gu Yizhi had called for regular cleaning, the house was still bright and clean. Xu Qingtang took out the little fox she had brought back from City C from her suitcase and placed it on the head of the bed. Finally, she took the local specialty she had brought back from City C and headed to Teacher Qi’s house.
Teacher Qi was as usual, asking her about her food and lodging there and whether she had a holiday for New Year’s Day. Xu Qingtang answered one by one. When Auntie Zhou went downstairs to throw out the trash, Teacher Qi put away her warm expression.
Xu Qingtang had a sense of impending doom.
Gu Yizhi had picked her up when she got off the plane today. On the way, Gu Yizhi had suggested coming back with her to see Teacher Qi. Xu Qingtang had refused. She was glad that Gu Yizhi was willing to face it with her, but she still wanted to leave some dignity for her and Gu Yizhi’s relationship, and also for herself and Teacher Qi.
The clock on the wall ticked by, minute by minute. Teacher Qi suddenly asked, “Do you still remember Auntie Xu from the hospital?”
Xu Qingtang nodded. “I remember.” After speaking, she added, “I saw her when I was in City C.”
Teacher Qi picked up an orange, slowly peeled it, and said casually, “Yes, she didn’t like the doctors here, so she pestered her son to change places.”
Xu Qingtang had thought that Teacher Qi would ask about it, but unexpectedly, she just made small talk again. “New year, new atmosphere. Do you have any plans for the holiday?”
Xu Qingtang: “We’ll see. I haven’t thought about it yet.”
“Then have you thought about your and Gu Yizhi’s matter?”
This sudden question made Xu Qingtang’s heart skip a beat. Before she could speak, Teacher Qi sneered. “If you haven’t thought about it, then I’ll think for you.”
“End it with her.”
