Chapter 88: Persuasion
Su Yan said in a serious tone.
Hearing that he seemed to be serious, the room was silent for a while, then a rustling sound was heard. Su Yan heard footsteps. The sound was a little muffled, as if bare feet were walking on the floor.
With a creak, the door opened.
When he saw Ling Ling again, Su Yan was startled. She had two large dark circles under her eyes, just like a panda. What was with this haggard look? How many days had it been since she had slept?
“Junior Brother…”
Ling Ling’s head was lowered, her voice weak.
Su Yan noticed that her clothes were loose and disheveled, barely able to conceal the spring scenery beneath. It was clear that she had put them on in a hurry.
“Have you been sleeping all these days?”
“Of course not. I was in seclusion.”
As she spoke, Ling Ling guiltily turned her head away. It was clear that she also knew that her words were not convincing and were a lie that would break at the slightest touch.
“I see.”
Su Yan saved his senior sister some face and didn’t press the matter further. Instead, he asked, “May I come in?”
Ling Ling nodded silently, not even wanting to speak.
Su Yan’s expression was grave. To have given up to this extent… it seemed this matter had hit her quite hard!
At this thought, Su Yan looked around and, seeing no one, took Ling Ling’s hand and entered the room. He had to have a deep conversation with his senior sister to stop her from being so decadent.
The two of them walked into the room together. As soon as they entered, Su Yan smelled a sweet scent in the air. The smell was very similar to what he had tasted before, and he immediately reacted.
“You must be thirsty, Junior Brother. Sit down and have some tea!”
Seeing Su Yan’s strange expression, Ling Ling immediately realized something. She was extremely ashamed in her heart. To cover up her embarrassment, she quickly picked up the teapot to pour him some tea.
The sound of flowing water was heard. What poured into the teacup was not tea, but a milky white, sweet and sour yogurt.
The corner of Su Yan’s eye twitched. Ling Ling noticed that something was wrong and quickly took away the teacup along with the teapot, stuffing it into a cabinet before she was done.
“Senior Sister, you’re…”
Su Yan was a little confused. How did the tea turn into yogurt? What on earth was going on?
“Ah, this… maybe the tea was left for too long, so it spoiled a little and became like that.”
The corner of Su Yan’s eye twitched. Did she take him for a fool? Whose tea spoiled into yogurt? This was simply unscientific.
“You know I’m here to help you, Senior Sister. I know your situation. There’s no point in lying to me.”
Hearing Su Yan’s words, the corner of Ling Ling’s mouth moved slightly. She wanted to say something, but in the end, she didn’t.
Su Yan was helpless. Had his senior sister become so withdrawn? She didn’t even want to explain? It seemed he could only rely on himself.
Thinking carefully, yogurt, a teapot… clean water couldn’t possibly turn into yogurt. Then there was only one truth.
“It was Senior Sister Ling Ling who squeezed her milk into it!”
This was definitely the truth. But the question was, why would she do that?
“Senior Sister is extremely ashamed of this matter and naturally wants to solve it. But she doesn’t know alchemy or pharmacology, so she can only use crude methods. If she squeezes out all the yogurt, will it be gone?”
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Su Yan’s expression became strange.
Ling Ling felt a little uncomfortable being looked at like that. She took a deep breath and said, “What do you need me for? I’m at a critical point in my seclusion and still have things to do.”
Pretend! Keep pretending!
Su Yan found it amusing in his heart, but he didn’t show it on his face. Instead, he said with a serious expression, “It’s my fault for disturbing you during your seclusion, Senior Sister. But I think there’s something more important.”
“What is it?”
“It’s about the future, about life, something every woman has to go through. I want to hear your opinion.”
Seeing him speak so seriously, Ling Ling couldn’t help but look up and listen.
Su Yan said, “You’re not a child anymore, Senior Sister. You’re already an adult. Do you think you’ll be single or start a family in the future?”
There was no doubt about this question. Of course, she would start a family, a family with her junior brother.
Ling Ling said, “I’m not a celibate.”
With no man in my heart, my sword will be divine!
Those cold and heartless immortal ladies were just because they hadn’t met a man who could move their hearts.
Ling Ling used to be like that too, but after meeting Su Yan, she understood what she really wanted. She didn’t want to be a heartless immortal, but a loving one.
Su Yan nodded and said, “Since you want to start a family, Senior Sister, you will naturally have children in the future. And with children, you can’t let them eat those unnutritious milk powders, right? There’s been a scandal in the cultivation world recently. Some manufacturers have been mixing inferior medicinal materials into their milk powders. So, if you look at some things from a different angle, they’re not bad things, but happy events.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Ling Ling blinked her eyes, a little curious. How did such a shameful thing become a happy event?
Su Yan continued, “When a woman has a child, she needs to provide enough nutrition. But many women have insufficient production, and their children lack nutrition, have a weak constitution, and lose at the starting line. Isn’t that a tragedy?”
In the cultivation world, the concepts of men and women were reversed. Women were in charge of the outside, and men were in charge of the inside. Many things that were originally done by women were now on the shoulders of men.
But no matter how the world changed, one thing would not change: women had to give birth to children, and they also had to feed them.
As a cultivator, one’s body was not an ordinary thing. The essence nurtured within the body was naturally a very precious thing.
If one could be self-sufficient and satisfy one’s own children, wouldn’t that be a wonderful thing? Although one could spend a lot of money to buy spiritual milk, for one’s own child to grow up drinking someone else’s yogurt, it always felt a little strange.
“You have a point.”
Ling Ling was very smart. Although Su Yan hadn’t said it explicitly, she already knew the deeper meaning.
Seeing that his persuasion was effective, Su Yan quickly pressed his advantage. “Of course, I have a point, because I’m telling the truth. It’s not even enough for one child. What if there are two children, three children?”
“It will be very difficult then. But you’re different. It’s a blessing in disguise. You won’t have to worry about not having… ahem, I don’t need to say the rest. You should understand what I mean.”
Su Yan didn’t say it too directly. He believed this was enough.
Sure enough, hearing Su Yan’s words, a light appeared in Ling Ling’s eyes.
“Two children, three children?”
Ling Ling looked up at Su Yan, her expression a little subtle.
Yes, you can’t let the children suffer. It’s nothing for me to suffer a little. As long as the children are happy, it’s all worth it.
“Your persuasion, Junior Brother, has made me see the light. I understand what you mean. I won’t be like this anymore!”
Hearing Ling Ling say this, Su Yan breathed a sigh of relief. The persuasion had really worked. It seemed he had a talent for persuading people.
Su Yan was happy, but he didn’t notice that the way Ling Ling was looking at him was a little strange.
