Chapter 48: Blushing
Ye Qizhen pressed against the corner of Wen Yu’s mouth, an impulsive action, gently kissing the side of Wen Yu’s lips.
Wen Yu suddenly went quiet. The warm and soft touch made her heart tingle instantly.
When Ye Qizhen met Wen Yu’s gaze, her heart pounded. A familiar situation—that night on the rooftop of the old house, Wen Yu had kissed her cheek like this. Now, it was like a long-overdue response.
Wen Yu quietly gazed into Ye Qizhen’s eyes close at hand, still immersed in that moment just now. She rubbed Ye Qizhen’s cheek, her voice even softer now: “Only look at me from now on, remember?”
Even the command was gentle. When someone usually cold and indifferent becomes gentle, they seem to have a special attraction, not to mention Wen Yu was only like this to her. Ye Qizhen looked at Wen Yu with smiling eyes, thinking: Looking only at you isn’t enough, how could I look at anyone else? Since meeting you, my heart simply can’t hold anyone else.
Facing Wen Yu’s command, Ye Qizhen was one hundred percent willing. She nodded obediently: “Mn.”
Satisfied, Wen Yu pinched Ye Qizhen’s cheek lightly again, as punishment.
Ye Qizhen discovered Wen Yu really loved pinching her face.
Seeing Ye Qizhen smile until her dimples showed, Wen Yu couldn’t help asking, “Like being bullied by me that much?”
“So you know you always bully me?” Ye Qizhen whispered. She felt Wen Yu had always “bullied” her, especially emotionally. Because of Wen Yu, she had many grievances, but also because of Wen Yu, she had much happiness.
When Ye Qizhen hummed and spoke in a low voice, her whole being was soft, looking even easier to bully—in every sense of the word. Wen Yu rubbed her palm against Ye Qizhen’s cheek, staring intently, then lowered her gaze slightly.
Sensing something, Ye Qizhen’s cheeks gradually heated up. She felt Wen Yu’s gaze was also hot, and moreover, it ironed over her lips.
Suddenly, neither of them spoke anymore, becoming focused. Separated by less than a few centimeters, the young couple stared at each other like this, silently testing each other; certain thoughts were hard to hide.
Thoughts began to pop up wildly in Ye Qizhen’s brain, and her heart rate kept accelerating.
With no one around, Wen Yu brushed Ye Qizhen’s hair aside with her fingertips. After a pause, she spoke with a hint of breathiness, whispering, “Want to kiss?”
Ye Qizhen blushed instantly. Although she guessed they should be thinking about the same thing, saying it out loud made people… She had never met a girl more direct than Wen Yu. Wen Yu staring at her and asking this made her heart restless directly. Looking at Wen Yu at close range, she couldn’t help but hum an extremely light “Mn.”
Wen Yu smiled; Ye Qizhen’s reaction was exactly as she imagined.
Ye Qizhen smiled awkwardly, one hand propped on the grass. The tips of the grass pricked her palm, ticklish, but she had no time to care because Wen Yu had already lowered her eyes and slowly leaned towards her. The smile on the corner of her mouth faded bit by bit as Wen Yu approached. She slowly closed her eyes, her heart thumping.
Wen Yu cupped Ye Qizhen’s cheek. When Ye Qizhen closed her eyes, she pecked lightly on Ye Qizhen’s lips. Wanted to kiss her like this, endured for a long time—not kissing the cheek, but the lips.
A light kiss, more romantic than the moonlight, landed on her lips. Ye Qizhen felt like her heart stopped for a second. When she opened her eyes and looked at Wen Yu again, her heartbeat was uncontrollable. There had been many intimacies between them, holding hands and hugging, but this was what she desired most. After the kiss, she was even more certain.
Their nose tips touched. Although incredibly shy, Ye Qizhen didn’t pull away from Wen Yu. Instead, she maintained a posture suitable for kissing. Perhaps because Wen Yu used to flirt with her without taking responsibility, now she wanted more compensation. The more intimate and clingy, the better; anyway, with Wen Yu, it was never enough.
Wen Yu rubbed Ye Qizhen’s nose tip, her gaze lingering, not wanting to pull away either.
Ye Qizhen subconsciously licked her lips, as if savoring the aftertaste, like finally tasting the long-desired candy. Or rather, kissing her was sweeter than eating candy, even though their lips had only touched. Staring at Wen Yu for half a second, she held her breath, leaned close to Wen Yu’s lips, and actively kissed back.
Wen Yu couldn’t resist Ye Qizhen’s shy initiative at all. So after Ye Qizhen kissed her, she immediately leaned in again, blocking the other’s lips at the same spot—softer than imagined. Ye Qizhen couldn’t handle it and instinctively closed her eyes to cooperate with Wen Yu.
Sitting on the grass, the two turned sideways, lips quietly pressed together, silencing the whole world along with them. Faint cicada chirps came from near and far, but no one cared.
What does kissing feel like?
Now I know…
Ye Qizhen leaned back slightly, a bit tense, but responded carefully to Wen Yu with her lips. Although she had secretly fantasized about this scene countless times, she still kissed clumsily, not knowing how to breathe.
Wen Yu almost drowned in Ye Qizhen’s clumsy kisses, her breathing becoming disordered.
Thin lips rubbed against each other, turning from cool to warm. Both kissing for the first time, not so tacit, let alone skilled. The green and unfamiliar attempts, inching closer to each other, demanding from each other, also held a different kind of sweetness. Never getting tired of it.
Wen Yu couldn’t help pulling Ye Qizhen into her arms, wanting Ye Qizhen to hug her. At the same time, she opened her lips to hold Ye Qizhen’s lower lip and sucked repeatedly. In just a few moments, an unprecedented heat was stirred up from the bottom of her heart, uncontrollable.
Kissed by Wen Yu like this, Ye Qizhen went soft all over. She wrapped one arm around Wen Yu’s waist and also opened her lips to hold and kiss Wen Yu’s lips. Turns out holding favorite candy in the mouth melts the heart too. Tense nerves slowly relaxed amidst the sticky kisses; nervousness faded unknowingly, leaving only immersion, infatuation, and unwillingness to stop.
Kissing back and forth, their chests pressed together heaving violently, but neither was willing to separate. As if a box suppressed in the heart for a long time was opened. Some things restrained for too long wouldn’t be easily satisfied, just like now.
Like having no restraint, the first kiss entangled them for a long, long time. When their lips parted, Ye Qizhen was a bit breathless. What was more deadly was that in the dim light, she saw Wen Yu seemed to be blushing—blushing from her kiss.
Even the usually calmest person couldn’t remain calm being kissed like this by the person she liked. Wen Yu panted lightly, not minding blushing in front of Ye Qizhen at all. She looked at Ye Qizhen openly and generously, asking in a low voice with flushed cheeks, “What are you laughing at?”
Ye Qizhen pursed her lips and continued to smile, her face heating up a few degrees more. She didn’t answer, leaning forward directly to hug Wen Yu, hiding her face in Wen Yu’s neck, clinging stickily. Thinking about what just happened, the aftereffect was too strong; still blushing with a racing heart.
Does she have to be so cute? Wen Yu licked her lips, hugged Ye Qizhen comfortably, then turned her head and kissed her hair.
***
In the eyes of outsiders, the relationship between Ye Qizhen and Wen Yu hadn’t changed much. Still waiting for each other after class, soaking in the library together, studying together, inseparable.
Entering exam month, most time was spent reviewing. The library was usually hard to find a seat in, so Wen Yu accompanied Ye Qizhen to read in empty classrooms.
Wen Yu didn’t talk much, and Ye Qizhen wasn’t a talkative type either. When they were together, they weren’t the kind to chat endlessly about everything. Most of the time, they were quiet, but being together brought an indescribable comfort and ease.
When Ye Qizhen got tired of reading, she didn’t look out the window to relax but secretly looked at Wen Yu. Can’t help it; girlfriend is better looking than the scenery outside.
Wen Yu could always catch her, then stare at Ye Qizhen with a smile, quietly holding her hand under the desk and playing with her fingers.
As long as Ye Qizhen saw Wen Yu smile, she wouldn’t be stingy with her own smile, dimples deep on her face.
Wen Yu always thought Qi Yun spoke unreliably, but Qi Yun was right about one thing: dating Ye Qizhen could make every day sweet. Probably because she had experienced too much unhappiness before, the contrast was particularly strong.
Actually, she sometimes didn’t understand why Ye Qizhen liked being with her. She was quite boring; there were plenty of people with better personalities than her. Was she too lucky to have met Ye Qizhen early?
Staying in the classroom for too long was stuffy, so they went to the corridor for some fresh air. Vending machines were added to the stair corners on every floor of the teaching building. Feeling a bit thirsty, Ye Qizhen said to Wen Yu, “Student Wen, I’ll treat you to a drink?”
Wen Yu glanced at Ye Qizhen and nodded.
Standing in front of the vending machine.
Ye Qizhen asked again, “Which one do you want to drink?”
Wen Yu scanned around, her slender fingers tapping on the transparent glass, signaling Ye Qizhen.
It was orange soda. Seeing this, Ye Qizhen suddenly remembered the scene of their first meeting when they just enrolled in freshman year. Scanning the code to pay, she bent down to take a can of chilled drink from the dispenser slot and handed it to Wen Yu.
Wen Yu left Ye Qizhen hanging, deliberately not reaching out to take it.
Two years later, the tables have turned.
Still remembering past events? Ye Qizhen pulled the tab of the can, then thoughtfully brought it to Wen Yu, smiling sweetly. “Come, drink soda.”
Wen Yu considered it, took it this time, brought it to her mouth, and drank a mouthful unhurriedly. Then she returned it to Ye Qizhen, followed by an unhurried sentence: “You drink my leftovers.”
Ye Qizhen blurted out, “Are you this vindictive?”
Wen Yu was very righteous: “Mn.”
Ye Qizhen was speechless. Scorpios really held grudges.
The afternoon sun was slightly dazzling, shining on the camphor leaves, refracting light. The blowing wind began to carry the thick heat of summer. Standing by the corridor, the two leisurely drank from the same can of soda, time flowing slowly.
There was a small sip of soda left, and Wen Yu generously left it for Ye Qizhen.
Ye Qizhen took it and drank it in one go, thinking that summer vacation was coming soon. “Wen Yu.” Getting more and more fond of calling her name; love me, love my dog—her name was also the best sounding in the world, comfortable to say.
Wen Yu turned around.
Ye Qizhen: “What are your plans for summer vacation?”
Wen Yu didn’t even think: “Same as before.”
Ye Qizhen understood and expected it. She lowered her head and squeezed the empty can in her hand, denting a small piece. After a while, she continued to ask Wen Yu, “Still not going home?”
“Not going back.” Wen Yu answered crisply. After a pause, she asked Ye Qizhen, “You?”
“Senior sister has a summer practice project, going out of town…”
Before Ye Qizhen finished, Wen Yu responded, “Mn.” Actually, she also thought Ye Qizhen would have other arrangements. Ye Qizhen wasn’t like her, whose life was so monotonous it could be seen at a glance.
“Can’t accompany you.”
“It’s okay.” Wen Yu’s tone was light.
Seeing Wen Yu’s reaction, Ye Qizhen felt she might be too clingy. Just separating for about a month, but it seemed quite long to her; she wished she could be with Wen Yu every day. Although reluctant, she didn’t dawdle in front of Wen Yu, just smiling and saying, “I’ll bring you a gift when I come back.”
Wen Yu smiled. “Okay.”
It was still early, enough time to read for another two hours. Ye Qizhen went to the restroom first. When she came out after washing her hands, her eyes were suddenly covered by someone from behind. She paused. “Wen Yu…”
The other party didn’t let go, still covering her eyes.
“Childish or not, let go of me—” After struggling a bit, Ye Qizhen couldn’t win, so she used some brute force to turn around and rogue-ishly hugged the person behind her by the waist.
After turning around, Ye Qizhen saw the person in her arms clearly and was instantly stunned, realizing she hugged the wrong person. And not far away, Wen Yu was leaning against the corridor railing, tilting her head and looking at her…
