Chapter 66: Cooperation
The awards ceremony took place on Friday night, and the lecture hall was packed.
Wen Yu arrived very early and sat in a seat in the middle of the front row. When she heard the host read out Ye Qizhen’s name, she focused her attention. Upon seeing the familiar figure, the corners of her lips curved high.
“Good evening, teachers and students. I am Ye Qizhen from the Class of ’18 Journalism.” Standing in front of the podium, Ye Qizhen was dressed formally with fresh light makeup. From preparation to taking the stage, her demeanor was generous and capable in every gesture.
Ye Qizhen seemed very popular at school. As soon as she finished introducing herself, Wen Yu heard enthusiastic support and applause. People beside her were chattering in low voices.
“The goddess senior of our college, especially beautiful and talented.”
“Yeah, looks so good when she smiles.”
…
The lights below the stage were dim.
Wen Yu listened attentively to every word, staring in Ye Qizhen’s direction, her smile bright and wanton, eyes shining. She still remembered Ye Qizhen’s green and childish appearance when giving a speech on stage in freshman year. Looking at her now, she had matured a lot unknowingly.
Every bit of change was engraved in her heart; she had accompanied Ye Qizhen through it all.
Ye Qizhen completed the few minutes of explanation beautifully. Since entering university, she had participated in many competitions, big and small, and could handle such occasions with ease.
Ending amidst applause, she looked towards Wen Yu in the crowd. This had almost become a habitual behavior. Seeing Wen Yu watching her and applauding, her smile was as brilliant as stars.
Having won the award, the team members were naturally very happy. As soon as Ye Qizhen walked off the stage, everyone surrounded her enthusiastically. Became the focus in an instant.
Not far away on the other side, Wen Yu leaned quietly against the wall, observing Ye Qizhen’s smile towards others while talking. Always sweet, but mostly polite and cultured.
Different from the smile towards her.
She complained internally again: Am I being too petty? Regarding many things related to Ye Qizhen, she admitted she cared a bit pettily.
Ye Qizhen quickly looked towards the audience seats again. Seeing Wen Yu’s seat was empty, she immediately looked left and right, searching all around.
Seeing Ye Qizhen looking for her anxiously at the first moment, warm sweetness filled Wen Yu’s heart. Just as she wanted to walk over, Ye Qizhen’s gaze locked on her.
Ye Qizhen smiled, her steps light. A strand of stray hair swept into her eye, and she blinked subconsciously. Before she could react, Wen Yu had already reached out and tidied her hair for her, movements gentle.
“Did I perform well?” Ye Qizhen asked Wen Yu brazenly. When others praised her, she would only respond with a few polite and humble sentences. Only in front of Wen Yu would she be childish like a kid, eyes full of anticipation actively seeking praise.
Wen Yu tilted her head and patted her head like coaxing a puppy. “Good, especially good.”
Perhaps because she was in such a good mood tonight, Ye Qizhen smiled and smiled, then stuck to Wen Yu and hugged her directly the next moment. Although they were standing below the stage, it was still a public place. With this hug, many people looked over at them.
Wen Yu didn’t expect Ye Qizhen to do this in full view, given how reserved Ye Qizhen usually was. But since she hugged her, she didn’t care about the onlookers.
She wrapped her arms around Ye Qizhen. “So happy just winning first place?”
“Not entirely because of this.” Ye Qizhen looked at Wen Yu and suddenly blurted out foolishly, “Student Wen, thank you for always accompanying me.”
Don’t know when it started, but she became less obsessed with rankings and awards. What moved her more was that every time, Wen Yu sat silently below the stage, watching her intently in the crowd. Whether frustrated or proud, Wen Yu was always by her side. For her, this was happier than winning any award.
Wen Yu smiled gracefully. After hugging for a while, she reminded Ye Qizhen, “A lot of people are watching us.”
“Let them watch.” Ye Qizhen was utterly willful tonight, continuing to hug and secretly kissing Wen Yu on the neck.
***
Busy all night, it was ten o’clock when they returned to the apartment.
Standing at the door, Ye Qizhen propped one hand against the wall, preparing to change shoes, but saw Wen Yu squat down first, holding her ankle, carefully helping her take off the high heels, then taking slippers for her to put on.
Ye Qizhen remained silent, touched to the bottom of her heart.
Wen Yu rarely saw Ye Qizhen wear high heels. Wearing them and standing for so long tonight must be tiring. Sitting down on the sofa, she pulled Ye Qizhen’s legs onto her own lap directly and massaged them for her.
Ye Qizhen was embarrassed. “No need.”
“Don’t move,” Wen Yu stared at a red spot on her heel, “Seems the foot is rubbed, does it hurt?”
“It’s okay, didn’t break the skin.”
Wen Yu asked while pressing, “Is this more comfortable?”
“Mn.” Ye Qizhen’s nose felt sour, her tear-prone habit acting up again. Wen Yu’s actions always spoke louder than words. She wouldn’t hang “how important you are” on her lips, but many, many details in life could make you feel how much she liked you.
Ye Qizhen didn’t let Wen Yu massage for too long. After a moment, she reached out to hold the back of Wen Yu’s thin hand and called softly, “Wen Yu.”
Wen Yu looked up, and a light kiss landed gently on the corner of her lips.
Like successfully stealing candy, Ye Qizhen smiled contentedly and sweetly. Holding Wen Yu’s palm tightly, her eyes were sincere as she said, “Sorry.”
A sudden apology.
Wen Yu asked back, “Did something guilty again?”
What do you mean ‘again’? Ye Qizhen smiled bitterly. “I mean, been too busy recently, haven’t accompanied you much.”
Wen Yu pretended to be cold-faced. “So you knew.”
Sure enough, she has complaints. Ye Qizhen used her killer move. She actively approached Wen Yu, kissed her again, and then didn’t move her lips away, just looking at the other party at close range. “I admit my mistake.”
Very conscious today. Wen Yu pretended to be unmoved. “Just this indication?”
“Then how do you want me to indicate?”
Wen Yu lowered her eyes and smiled, her lips rubbing against the corner of Ye Qizhen’s mouth.
As she thought, after just a few touches, Ye Qizhen closed her eyes and responded. She half-opened her eyes, kissing not anxiously but with purpose, slowly hooking Ye Qizhen’s emotions with her lips and tongue.
The effect was very good. Ye Qizhen responded increasingly impatiently. She raised her arms wanting to hug Wen Yu, but at this moment her shoulders were pushed away, and their hotly kissing lips and tongues also separated.
Failed, stopped abruptly.
Wen Yu panted slightly, saying to Ye Qizhen, “You go to sleep first, I still have to rush a drawing draft.”
Ye Qizhen pursed her lips kissed rosy, stiffening.
Wen Yu hooked the corner of her mouth in a smile. Saying so, but she didn’t widen the distance from Ye Qizhen.
Ye Qizhen knew Wen Yu was teasing her. She slowly lowered her eyes, trying to kiss again.
Wen Yu dodged again.
Exactly the same situation as that night, only the tables had turned. Ye Qizhen realized Wen Yu was “revenging” on her; really holding a grudge.
You look at me, I look at you. After a moment of being at a loss, Ye Qizhen threw caution to the wind. Cupping Wen Yu’s cheek with one hand, she forcefully kissed Wen Yu’s lips directly, prying open her teeth and sending her soft tongue to entangle.
Wen Yu was most unable to withstand Ye Qizhen’s coquetry and kisses, plus they hadn’t touched for several days; how could she endure it?
Ye Qizhen kissed deeper step by step.
Wen Yu kissed back with a smile. The secretly passionate one was getting better at it; kissing so comfortably. She closed her eyes, opening her lips to press closely against the same spot on Ye Qizhen. The sticky and wet deep kiss spread sweetness, almost breathless.
Ye Qizhen took the opportunity to hug Wen Yu’s body tightly. While catching her breath, she kissed Wen Yu’s upper lip intermittently, as if not wanting to separate for a second more.
Seeing Ye Qizhen like this, Wen Yu couldn’t kiss enough either, passivity turning into initiative. Ye Qizhen looked at Wen Yu and smiled. Sure enough, there was no small emotion that a kiss couldn’t solve.
“So beautiful tonight, you look so good in white.” Wen Yu fiddled with the collar of Ye Qizhen’s shirt. Whether it was face or temperament, Ye Qizhen suited pure white—fresh and clean.
In short, giving people a particularly comfortable feeling.
And this comfort of Ye Qizhen, when it reached her, was mixed with a strong temptation.
“I…” Ye Qizhen thought for a moment, pressing against Wen Yu’s ear with burning cheeks, telling her somewhat shyly, “Underwear is white today too.”
Wen Yu’s heart burned; this feeling was a bit unfamiliar. She laughed at Ye Qizhen, “What’s wrong tonight, such a vixen?”
Ye Qizhen was even shyer but didn’t dodge Wen Yu’s gaze. “Haven’t you heard that people become more and more alike after being together for a long time?”
Wen Yu: “You mean to blame me?”
A few sentences of dialogue, spoken while kissing, seemed cloying. Strange to say, whether it was purely wanting to kiss or thinking about other things, they could distinguish it easily.
Is this tacit understanding?
And now, obviously belonging to the latter.
Ye Qizhen touched Wen Yu’s cheek, affection in the bottom of her eyes. She blocked Wen Yu’s lips in time, supporting Wen Yu’s waist, her fingertips unbuttoning the pants with slight clumsiness.
Because of this small action, Wen Yu’s heartbeat gradually quickened. “What are you doing?”
“Compensating you.” Ye Qizhen said with a flushed face, wanting to express how much she liked her in the most direct way. After the tiff last night, she wondered if she wasn’t enthusiastic enough towards Wen Yu, causing Wen Yu to overthink.
After all, Wen Yu was more proactive every time.
She wanted to be a bit more passionate.
Towards Wen Yu, no amount of passion was excessive.
With a face both pure and lustful, Wen Yu couldn’t stand it, drowning in every move of Ye Qizhen. She wrapped her arms around Ye Qizhen’s neck, kissing her incessantly, from gentle to passionate. And cooperating.
