Chapter 70: Wind Passes Without Trace
Diwu Miaofu’s laughter echoed endlessly on the stone stairs. She picked up a disciple’s sword and clashed with other disciples rushing down from the mountain. Xue Mu had no choice but to draw the fine sword left by Xue Duanhun, dealing with the disciples of the Blue Wind Mountain Sect in the encirclement for a long time.
Since she was using a sword, she naturally used the sword moves taught to her by Xue Duanhun. Those disciples recognized her sword moves and her lightness skill, their faces becoming increasingly ugly.
“You actually stole our sect’s martial arts! What is your crime!”
The sword in Xue Mu’s hand moved with her mood. Amidst the flashing sword light, she responded coldly, “I didn’t steal it, I just inherited what my master taught!” Although her voice wasn’t loud, it revealed determination and confidence, intending to shatter the doubts and prejudices of these disciples.
The surrounding disciples became increasingly angry, looking at each other, their eyes revealing indignation.
“No matter what, you are fighting us here today, you won’t escape in the end! Today we will tie you up and send you to the Sect Leader to decide your life and death!” A disciple shouted angrily, his sword light drawing an arc in the air, pressing straight towards Xue Mu.
Just then, Diwu Miaofu turned sideways, nimble as a swallow, and cleverly flicked the disciple’s long sword away with a backhand strike, shouting loudly, “Stop babbling, little Taoist, I don’t like wasting time! Do you want this Great Aunt to teach you properly how to use a sword!”
As soon as her voice fell, the pine forest rustled with the wind. Xue Mu cheered in her heart and used the move “Wind Passes Without Trace.” When two disciples stabbed their swords at the same time, her body retreated like a clear breeze, making their sword moves miss. Immediately after, her figure drifted, arriving with the wind, hitting the vital acupoint of one disciple in the instant of counterattack!
That disciple was stunned. Xue Mu timely struck out with a Blazing Burning Palm. The heat rushed straight to the faces of those disciples, and they retreated hurriedly. Diwu Miaofu actually stepped on one person’s long sword and jumped out of the encirclement from the air. Her expression was as cold as ice, her deep black eyebrows and eyes even sharper.
She swung her fists, hitting those disciples like a storm. With screams of pain, those disciples all fell on the stone steps. While defending, Xue Mu also observed Diwu Miaofu’s fist momentum. It was extremely destructive. Fortunately, Xue Mu shouted, and Diwu Miaofu was clear-headed, not really crippling those disciples, but also making them temporarily lose their ability to move.
Diwu Miaofu said, “Sister Xue, run quickly. Blue Wind Mountain has more than just these little dolls!”
She actually called these disciples of the Blue Wind Mountain Sect “little dolls.” If the situation weren’t critical, Xue Mu would have really wanted to laugh out loud. She nodded and followed Diwu Miaofu rushing up the stone steps to the top of the mountain—sure enough, a new wave of fighting was about to come. Xue Mu sharply spotted a familiar face in the angry crowd and shouted loudly, “Big Brother Yu Qingdong!”
Yu Qingdong, who was called, was startled. Narrowing his eyes to examine the two people below the stone steps carefully, joy suddenly flashed in his eyes, then was covered by a touch of sorrow. He hurriedly passed through the junior brothers, standing at the very front to stop them. “Wait a minute, don’t fight!”
Everyone said, “Second Senior Brother—!”
Yu Qingdong said sternly, “Can you beat them? Calm down first!”
Xue Mu saw Yu Qingdong leap to four or five stone steps away from her and Diwu Miaofu, and said, “Big Brother Yu, although we just met last month, at this moment I still have to say long time no see.”
Yu Qingdong looked at the two of them, then at the junior brothers rolling and wailing below the stone stairs. As the Second Senior Brother, he naturally couldn’t ignore it, and said angrily, “Tower Master Xue, how could you bring someone to injure my disciples? If you wanted to go up the mountain, you could have asked my junior brother to come up and find the Sect Leader Master—giving my name and finding me would have been fine too!”
Xue Mu clasped her fists and bowed. “Truly sorry, Big Brother Yu. I saw that the attitude of your two junior brothers wasn’t very good, only thinking about driving us away, so…”
Yu Qingdong said, “You are here to see the Sect Leader, aren’t you?”
Xue Mu said, “Yes.”
Yu Qingdong said, “Your subordinate went back and told you what the Sect Leader said, didn’t she?”
Xue Mu said, “Yes!”
Yu Qingdong said again, “Your master… your master…” His voice suddenly became a bit strange. “Did your master pass away?”
Xue Mu saw his eyes turn red and said in a low voice, “Yes, my master has passed away.”
Yu Qingdong suddenly turned around and ran wildly towards the top of the mountain. Other disciples were shocked seeing this. Xue Mu watched his back quietly as he ran up continuously. Diwu Miaofu whispered beside her, “Sister Xue, no more fighting?”
Xue Mu sighed. “No more fighting.” Could it be that the Sect Leader and Yu Qingdong never believed that Master was dead?
Half a cup of tea’s time later, Yu Qingdong appeared in everyone’s vision again, shouting loudly, “Please invite the two distinguished guests to see my Sect Leader Master!”
Diwu Miaofu was very surprised. “Hey, why are they letting us go up again?”
Xue Mu said, “Let’s go up first.”
The two walked up, while those disciples walked down to help the beaten brothers.
Entering the main hall, Xue Mu saw a female Sect Leader in Taoist robes standing in the center. Her posture was upright, her temperament outstanding. Her black hair was like ink, elegantly coiled into a bun on top of her head, with an exquisite golden hair crown inserted in the middle. She wore a dark blue Taoist robe, with delicate cloud patterns and mountain patterns embroidered on the cuffs and hem.
This must be Sect Leader Qi Qing. Thinking this, Xue Mu bowed solemnly. “Sect Leader Qi Qing, I am Xue Mu, disciple of Xue Duanhun. Coming here this time—”
Sect Leader Qi Qing didn’t let her finish, asking calmly, “Where is your master?”
Xue Mu originally thought Sect Leader Qi Qing would show her power, at least scolding her master or being sarcastic. Unexpectedly, she was so calm. She became even more respectful and said, “Master passed away, leaving a suicide note.”
“Nonsense!” Sect Leader Qi Qing suddenly showed her power, shouting sternly, “How could your master die easily!”
Diwu Miaofu looked at the Sect Leader’s pale face, then at the respectful Xue Mu, muttering softly, “How can people not die easily? All are mortal flesh and blood, why is Sister Xue’s master special—”
“Who are you?” Sect Leader Qi Qing stared at her with burning eyes. “How old are you this year?”
“I don’t know, but an old gentleman touched my bones and said I should be nineteen this year.” Diwu Miaofu giggled.
Somehow, Xue Mu felt that Sect Leader Qi Qing wasn’t happy. She was puzzled in her heart. Could it be that although Sect Leader Qi Qing and Master had disputes and spoke coldly, she actually didn’t want Master to die?
“Your master… how did your master die?” Sect Leader Qi Qing asked Xue Mu.
“Master took revenge previously, causing slaughter. She always felt guilty and painful in her heart, so she chose to commit suicide.” Xue Mu said heavily.
Sect Leader Qi Qing stared at her blankly. After a long time, she reached out her hand.
“The suicide note, give it to me to see.”
