Chapter 20-21: A Little Baili Shock
The noisy day finally passed. Lu Li felt that his life in this world was much livelier than before. Every day, his ears were filled with the crisp, pleasant, warbler-like gentle voices of young girls. No wonder the ancients said a woman’s embrace is a hero’s tomb; this soul-stealing, bone-melting experience was enough to wear down anyone’s fighting spirit.
After sending off the Silly Goose, it was already night. An Baili went back to her room to shower, while Wen Hupo was fiddling with some phone app on the bed. Lu Li thought for a moment, opened his computer, and started searching for information on the Shenzhou Royal Family, beginning with Zhu Xi. Now that he had calmed down, Lu Li actually thought Zhu Xi’s reaction that day had been a bit strange, a bit too intense, as if she were reacting to something specific. The only thing Lu Li could connect it to was the shooting incident.
The information on the internet about the Zhu Family was all very official, mostly introducing the royal family members’ alma maters, work experience, and character evaluations, with almost no mention of personal affairs. There was, however, one exception.
Going one generation up from Zhu Xi, Lu Li saw the name Zhu Youcheng—the current Emperor of Shenzhou. Lu Li often saw him on real estate billboards; he was said to be an amiable, good-natured old man. The key point wasn’t Zhu Youcheng, but his previous wife, Yan Lanxin.
Yan Lanxin.
A distant memory was awakened in Lu Li. He remembered that in the far-off past, he and his sister had sat in front of a boxy television set and watched the news report that Empress Yan Lanxin had died of illness. The flags were lowered to half-mast, and the entire nation observed three minutes of silence. She was Zhu Xi’s mother.
Yan.
This surname immediately made Lu Li think of the Chairperson of Shenzhou Energy Group, Yan Rujun. Could they be from the same family? Then Zhu Xi’s connection to the Shenzhou Energy Group might be much closer than he imagined… Was this the reason she broke things off with him? Was the assassin sent by the Yan Family? And was Zhu Xi perhaps the trigger?
Lu Li rubbed his temples. What a joke. This was reality, not some melodrama about a poor boy chasing a princess. There wouldn’t be such a cliché plot where the snobbish matriarch sends a ruthless assassin, right? Then what role did Zhu Xi play in all of this? Lu Li had a faint feeling that this guess was not far from the truth.
But, something was still missing, a key motive was missing… Even if it really was Yan Rujun or Zhu Xi who wanted to kill him, they would need a deeper motive… Lu Li racked his brains, feeling he was just a hair’s breadth away from the answer.
“I have a suggestion. If you want to live your life with three wives and four concubines in peace, you’d best stay far away from the Chu Family’s little girl.” Zhu Xi’s words flashed in his mind like a fleeting spark.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. An Baili called out in a sweet voice: “Can you open the door? It’s so cold out here.”
Lu Li’s train of thought was broken. He shook his head, deciding to think about it more carefully another day. He closed his computer and went to open the door. An Baili was standing there prettily in a thin nightgown. The ends of her freshly washed hair were still damp, and two rosy clouds floated on her fair cheeks. Her slender waist, which one could encircle with a single grasp, looked even thinner outlined by the loose nightgown. In terms of looks alone, An Baili had always been the champion in Lu Li’s heart. The delicate body of a young girl and the alluring aura of a young madam were perfectly united in her. No wonder that Wen You kid had fallen in love at first sight. At this age, which girl possessed Baili’s every frown and smile, carrying the charm of a ripe fruit?
“Can I sleep with you today?”
“It’s cold outside, come in and talk.” Lu Li let Baili into the room.
Wen Hupo was done fiddling with her phone and went to feed the cat. Hearing this, she looked up and said: “The bed can’t fit three people.”
An Baili wrinkled her nose. “I knew it, you golden-haired cat have been sleeping with my Lu Li recently.”
“The floor is cold, so I let him sleep on the bed,” Wen Hupo said, her cheeks slightly red, offering a weak excuse.
“Just sleeping? You didn’t do anything else?”
The golden-haired girl lowered her head and went back to feeding the cat, it was unclear if she was too disdainful or too ashamed to answer.
An Baili slid directly under the covers. “I don’t care, I’m sleeping with you anyway. Why can Wen Hupo but I can’t?”
Lu Li pretended to be conflicted. “Fine, I’ll tough it out. If it’s crowded, it’s crowded. If it’s hot, it’s hot.”
Wen Hupo said softly, “Pervert.” Miss Lu meowed at the perfect moment, as if agreeing with her owner’s opinion. Lu Li felt that Miss Lu had been meowing more and more lately. She wasn’t this noisy before. Was the little cat in **?
There wasn’t much to do for entertainment at night. Lu Li lay down on the bed early. The moment he did, An Baili hugged him like an octopus, giggling foolishly while nuzzling his armpit. “It’s been so long since I slept with you.” Baili had just showered and smelled wonderful. Lu Li’s appetite was greatly stirred, and he couldn’t help but want to “eat” this girl up.
Wen Hupo turned off the light and nudged Lu Li. “Move in a little, there’s no room.”
“Oh, huh?” Lu Li had thought Wen Hupo was too thin-skinned and wouldn’t be willing to share a bed with three people. He obediently scooted over, and soon another warm, delicate body pressed against his right side. He could even feel Hupo’s pounding heartbeat; she definitely wasn’t as calm as she appeared on the surface.
“I thought you were going to sleep in Baili’s room…”
“It’s just sleeping, not something that can’t be seen by others,” Wen Hupo declared forcefully. So that was her reason for doing this, to prove her innocence. Wen Hupo cared most about her image; she didn’t want to be seen by An Baili as a golden-haired cat stealing snacks. That day, at most… at most she just held that thing, and at worst, she just let Lu Li see the hair down there…
An Baili gave a sly smile. This was a rare area where she had the upper hand over Hupo.
She nibbled ambiguously on Lu Li’s earlobe and said in a sticky-sweet voice, “Li, are you also just going to sleep? Aren’t you going to do something else?”
When it came to the private life of a couple, Baili was a little vixen. Lu Li was having a hard time handling it, unsure how to respond. Normally, he would have definitely “subdued the demon and eliminated the evil,” fiercely injecting his righteous genes, but Hupo was lying right next to him today!
An Baili’s jade-like hand hooked the elastic of his shorts, pulling out that half-soft, half-hard thing, which swayed as if she were wielding a soft sword. Lu Li grabbed Baili’s hand, wanting her to behave, but unexpectedly, this action instead provoked An Baili’s competitive spirit. She had always been one-upped by Wen Hupo, in both lifetimes. How could she pass up such a great opportunity to finally hold her head high?
On the small bed, the three of them were flesh to flesh, their breaths mingling.
An Baili wielded the soft sword, delivering a lash to Hupo’s round buttocks. What a sword-wielding heroine.
Wen Hupo’s back straightened. “What…?”
“Li, turn over and face Wen Hupo.”
Lu Li also had some dirty thoughts in his mind, so he did as he was told. That soft sword also began to lift its head, gradually hardening. An Baili transformed from a sword-wielding heroine into a master of the staff. She used that iron rod to strike the plump buttock cheeks again. Smack—
Wen Hupo’s face instantly turned red. She finally realized what was hitting her butt.
An Baili giggled. “Giving Hupo a little Baili shock!”
