Chapter 149: Dedication

“Shen An, want to grab lunch together?”

After class, Wang Yuqiong turned her head as usual and asked Shen An.

Shen An shook his head. “Nah.”

“What’s up? In a rush to get back? Or do you have something else going on?” Wang Yuqiong pressed.

“No gossiping.”

Shen An packed up his things, rolled his eyes at Wang Yuqiong, and stood to leave.

Wang Yuqiong frowned, about to unleash her combative instincts, when Yang Bin hurried over, cutting in front of Shen An.

“Shen An! Shen An~”

Yang Bin called out loudly. Shen An stopped and raised an eyebrow. “You trying to ask me out for lunch too?”

Yang Bin cleared his throat. “It’s not just me. Remember those three guys from the Industrial Management Class we played against in the first round?”

“Yeah.”

“They added me when I was leaving and said we should all grab a bite later. They want to form a team for the Freshman Cup that the Student Union is hosting.”

“You see, we’ve got three, they’ve got three, and we can even have a sub.”

Li Yun trailed behind Yang Bin, and from his expression, it was clear Yang Bin had already won him over.

Shen An’s mouth twitched. “Forget it. I don’t have time for some Freshman Cup.”

He shook his head repeatedly. The art troupe was already enough to keep him busy.

“Come on, don’t be like that.” Shen An was Yang Bin’s “secret weapon.” Without his unique passing, the team’s overall strength would drop a lot.

Those three tall guys were perfect for holding down the paint, grabbing rebounds, and playing defense.

Yang Bin was good at shooting, while Li Yun was average across the board.

They were missing someone like Shen An, who could run the floor fluidly and break ankles with the ball.

“Let’s talk it over.” Yang Bin rubbed his hands together. “You know what they say: you can always squeeze out some time if you try.”

Shen An was in a hurry, so he brushed him off for now. “Fine, I’ll think about it when I get back and give you an answer later.”

“Deal! Remember to seriously consider it—the Freshman Cup starts in half a month.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Shen An waved him off dismissively as he hurried out of the classroom.

Watching his rushed figure disappear into the distance, Yang Bin muttered under his breath, “Is the art troupe really that busy?”

He turned to Li Yun, who just shrugged, indicating he had no idea.

Wang Yuqiong, still seated, had overheard the whole conversation. Her eyes narrowed slightly. “The Freshman Cup, huh…”

A new idea seemed to spark in her mind.

But it was just a fledgling thought, and she quickly pushed it down. Turning to Song Rui, she asked, “Did your office assign new tasks again?”

Song Rui shook her head blankly.

“Huh?”

“I… I don’t know.” Song Rui said softly. “From what I know, the office doesn’t have anything pending right now?”

She wasn’t entirely sure.

“Then why’s he rushing off like that? Got a hot date with some girl?” Wang Yuqiong teased casually before adding, “Anyway, let’s go eat.”

She stood up and called over Li Li and Zhang Tong. Once again, the girls from Dorm 105 set out as a group.

Shen An stepped out of the teaching building and immediately messaged Chen Nannan.

He was still holding his books, but heading back to the North District Apartment right now would be too much of a detour.

“Senior Sister, Senior Sister, you out of class yet?”

Meanwhile, Chen Nannan was facing an invitation to lunch from her classmates.

She glanced at the message on her phone, then looked up with a soft smile and shook her head. “No thanks, you guys go ahead. I’ve got something with the Student Union.”

“Alright then.”

Her classmates left together, leaving Chen Nannan alone. She lowered her head and quietly replied to Shen An: “Just got out.”

“Ahem. So, any plans after this, Senior Sister?”

Shen An asked in his most tactful way.

Just reading the words made Chen Nannan’s heart flutter for no reason.

It was a perfectly ordinary question, but…

The moment she recalled last night’s events, her inner calm shattered, impossible to regain.

“I… I…”

Chen Nannan felt a bit timid. She chickened out. “I have to head to the office later.”

“The office?”

“Yeah, Academic Affairs Office. Teacher Pei asked me to.”

“Cool, I just got out too. Mind if I tag along?” Shen An didn’t mind running a few extra errands with Chen Nannan.

Strike while the iron was hot—he couldn’t let this budding spark fizzle out.

Oh…

He might not mind, but Chen Nannan certainly did.

It was like drinking: in the moment, it felt exhilarating, no big deal.

But once the buzz wore off, exhaustion and dizziness crashed over you. If your tolerance was low, you’d be bedridden for a day and a night.

Right now, Chen Nannan was in the post-buzz hangover phase.

The more she thought about it, the more her resolve wavered.

Seeing no reply, Shen An followed up. “Where are you right now, Senior Sister?”

“In the classroom…”

“Which building, which room?”

“You… you’re coming over?”

“Yeah, I can’t just stand here holding my books like an idiot waiting for you.”

“Um…” Chen Nannan hesitated, then gave him the classroom number.

She slipped her phone back into her drawer, cupped her face in her hands, and waited in a daze.

Shen An checked the room number. Nice—it was in the next building over.

He moved at lightning speed and appeared before her in minutes.

When he pushed open the door, the classroom was empty except for Chen Nannan, still sitting there. Everyone else had left.

“Heh heh.”

Shen An let out a weird chuckle, snapping Chen Nannan out of her thoughts.

Her expression froze for a second, then she saw his grinning face.

This…

That inexplicable panic surged in her heart again.

And this guy… why was he grinning like such a creep?!!

Chen Nannan panicked hard, feeling like she was meat on the chopping block.

But in front of him, she forced herself to stay calm. “You got here that fast?”

“Yeah, my class was in the next building.”

Shen An walked right up to her without a care and sat down, leaning in close—intimate.

He scooted closer; she shifted away a bit.

He scooted more; she retreated further.

Until…

She slapped a hand against his arm, annoyed. “Move any closer and I’ll fall off!”

Shen An stopped and propped his chin on his hand. “If you stop backing away, I won’t come closer.”

Chen Nannan rolled her eyes. “Bull. You just want to crowd me!”

“Er… it’s instinct.”

“What kinda instinct? You’re pulling that crap again, huh.”

“Nah, it’s the instinct to get close to you.” Shen An grinned.

Chen Nannan’s pretty face flushed. She really had no counter for him.

The line between men and women could be as thin as paper. Once you crossed certain intimate boundaries, things spiraled into uncontrollable territory.

Like brushing hair aside, pinching a cheek—do it once, and the second, third time felt natural.

It became habit, often without the people involved even noticing.

Let alone something way beyond “friends” or “senior-junior”—a full-on kiss.

Not a peck, but a deep, wet one.

Their tongues had tangled, leaving each other’s taste and scent etched in their hearts.

No matter how reserved Chen Nannan tried to be, it only worked when they weren’t face-to-face.

Up close, she struggled to hold the reins.

Facing a guy she’d shared intimacy with—and who had no shame—she couldn’t bring herself to hate him, and resisting was pointless.

All she could do was acquiesce.

Worse, her heartstrings plucked themselves at his whim.

Even now, a simple sweet nothing sent a thrill of anticipation through her she could barely contain.

Damn it…

“No objection means you’re cool with it, right, Senior Sister?”

While Chen Nannan was lost in thought, Shen An seized the chance to lean in until their bodies touched.

Only when his arm naturally draped over her shoulder did she snap back to reality.

But her instinct wasn’t to push him away—instead, she glanced around, terrified someone else might be in the classroom.

Shen An caught her panic and whispered against her fair earlobe, “Such a quiet classroom. Didn’t know you had a habit of reviewing after class, Senior Sister.”

The sudden hot breath shattered what little composure Chen Nannan had left.

The blush on her cheeks was impossible to hide.

On second thought, she stopped trying.

She shot him a glare and pouted. “What reviewing? I was waiting for you.”

“And now I’m here.”

Shen An said softly, “When were you planning to head to the Academic Affairs Office, Senior Sister?”

Chen Nannan blinked. “Now?”

“Aw~ That soon? I ran over here and I’m beat. Look, my shirt’s practically soaked.”

Shen An touched his perfectly dry short-sleeved shirt and put on a pitiful act.

Chen Nannan sighed. “Fine, we’ll go later.”

“That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

Shen An nodded enthusiastically, his arm still around her shoulders. Right in front of her, he casually flipped open her notebook.

Chen Nannan had wanted to stop him, but then she heard his compliment. “Senior Sister, your handwriting is really pretty.”

“Um…”

Her face flushing red, Chen Nannan said weakly, “What’s so pretty about it?”

“It’s not that. I just want to take a look. We’re not in any hurry anyway, right?”

Shen An smiled faintly.

Like hell he wants to look!

Chen Nannan knew full well that Shen An’s intentions had nothing to do with the notebook.

He just wanted to take advantage of the opportunity…

Fine, whatever.

Chen Nannan pursed her lips, burying her head in the sand like an ostrich and pretending not to notice.

But Shen An went too far. On one hand, he quietly slid his hand from her shoulder down to her waist. On the other, he put on a show of asking her serious questions.

Like some knowledge from their major classes. Or the contents recorded in these notebooks.

Basically, stuff like, “I don’t get this part, Senior Sister. Could you explain it to me?”

Since Chen Nannan was in the same major as him, he had plenty of excuses to “consult” with her and drag out the time.

She still pretended not to notice, even as his hand began to boldly caress her waist.

Even with her cheeks burning hot and scarlet, she kept up her senior sister act. She answered Shen An’s questions with utmost seriousness, occasionally offering him reminders and advice.

What a dedicated “private tutor.”

Shen An loaded the Healing System upon arriving in this new world—a system designed to mend broken hearts! But to be frank, healing other people's hearts was an incredibly difficult and troublesome endeavor, especially when dealing with a group of female "patients." Conventional healing methods took forever to show results, dragged on for ages, produced lackluster outcomes, and worst of all, left him at risk of being dismissed as some wide-eyed fool overflowing with bleeding-heart sentiment. Shen An, however, knew of an unconventional approach. It worked like a charm—fast-acting, short treatment time, and guaranteed to cure the ailment completely. It did have one tiny drawback: it had a nasty habit of attracting a hatchet. Because this particular healing method went by the name of love.
