Chapter 25: The End of the Thieves’ Guild
[Congratulations! Conquest Progress exceeded 40%!]
[Reward Obtained “The person Lydia wants to save the most”: Bella]
“Bella? Who is this?”
“Why don’t you want to save me?”
“Oh, I don’t need saving either.”
Sitting in the carriage heading to Nadia’s estate, Shelley pondered idly.
…
In the originally bustling tavern hall, only a scattered few thugs remained, along with a few rogues who were about to retreat as soon as they entered.
Figures in the gray area attached great importance to information. After all, sometimes a little difference in information could determine the outcome of a battle.
Whether it was the ownership of a street, the control over the streetwalkers at the docks, or even a brawl involving hundreds of people.
Moreover, what happened last night couldn’t be concealed at all: a Paladin judging sinners, the Duke’s son kidnapped, Evil God believers, the Eldest Princess appearing…
With such a major event involving hundreds of nobles and even more servants, it was impossible to block the information!
So Elena simply let everyone go and put out the word directly, telling all nobles to prepare for the clearing out of the Thieves’ Guild tomorrow night.
All those figures who heard the news dared not come here directly; they were secretly guarding the vicinity, planning to fish in troubled waters.
Godwin, the boss dressed as a bartender, didn’t have his usual smile today. He stared gloomily at his few remaining subordinates, wishing he could chop up that client from the other day.
It was clearly just a simple mission, at most suffering some secret retaliation, not a big deal…
How could it provoke the Eldest Princess who served as the Captain of the Temple Knights?
And get involved with Evil God believers???
Shaking his head and trying to calm himself down, Godwin took a fierce puff from his pipe and said:
“…What did that client say that day? What was the item to be collected?”
Turner looked left and right, finally conflictedly pushing a letter to his enraged boss, then retreated quickly.
Having a bad premonition about Turner’s action, Godwin put down his pipe and slowly looked at the seemingly ordinary letter:
“I didn’t expect you guys to really trust me!”
“In that case, I must tell you the truth of the matter.”
“That secret is…”
“Congreve is not the Duke’s biological son!”
“Are you shocked?”
“Actually, if nothing unexpected happens, this secret might not be a secret anymore by this time!”
“Are you angry? Are you happy?”
“I’m very happy anyway!”
“Thank you for your generous help.”
“Oh right, although Congreve won’t have the time to bother you, his biological father has the energy.”
“I also want to find this poisonous snake through your miserable experience, so please resist to the end.”
“I will tell your tragic story to the next Thieves’ Guild.”
“Thank you here for your gratuitous help!”
“Where there is light, there is shadow. The world is divided into two poles.”
“Your dear friend sends his regards from the side of light.”
…
This letter was written by Shelley yesterday. He originally wanted to change it this morning, but there were more important things at the time, and he couldn’t get away.
So he simply didn’t change it. Anyway, he was quite satisfied with what he wrote originally, and the result should be good!
“Ahhhhhhh!!!!”
Although Godwin thought it would likely be this result, he didn’t expect it to be so infuriating!
That damned guy!!!
“I must kill you! I must kill you!”
Frantically smashing everything in front of him, he smashed the counter displaying various liquors directly with a stool.
Looking at the red wine all over the floor, fine bloodshot lines appeared in his eyes.
From an orphan abandoned by his streetwalker mother, Godwin was abducted by the Thieves’ Guild at the age of two and began hellish rogue training.
From a street pickpocket to a gang leader, and finally to the person in charge of the Thieves’ Guild, he had gone through so many battles that even he couldn’t remember clearly.
“I haven’t enjoyed enough yet! I can’t fall here!”
“Go! Must go!”
His emotions calmed down. Looking at his subordinates shrinking in various corners, he said in a deep voice:
“Pack up, we’re leaving!”
“Leave immediately!!!”
Seeing the expressions of Turner and the others looking like they were about to cry, Godwin had a bad premonition and shouted:
“Speak up! Are you all dumb? What happened?”
That squad leader with accurate intuition spoke hoarsely:
“We didn’t want to come back either…”
“But after we escaped the city, we were all knocked out and thrown back…”
“Turner was the worst; he was knocked out four times.”
Looking at the swelling on the back of Turner’s head, Godwin slumped onto the few remaining stools beside him as if deflated.
Godwin stared blankly at the ceiling, where he had once hanged three traitors who betrayed him.
Then he looked at the bar counter, where he had executed many subordinates who wanted to rebel against him.
Finding confidence from these places, Godwin’s eyes lit up, and he muttered to himself:
“Bullying too much! Bullying too much! Those people are forcing me! Forcing me!!!”
“You say we colluded with those followers of the Maiden of Pain?”
“Then we’ll collude!”
“Turner!”
Rubbing the back of his head, Turner looked at his boss upon hearing his name and found ambition lighting up in his eyes again. Turner straightened his expression.
“Go find those Evil God believers. They will be purged too! They won’t refuse. If we’re finished, they’re next!”
“Yes!”
…
“Captain, someone came out of the Thieves’ Guild again!”
Elena knelt on one knee praying before the divine statue. Without getting up, she asked calmly:
“Is he going outside the city again this time?”
“No, he stealthily went to the Noble District.”
“Watch him. He’s going to find the followers of the Maiden of Pain.”
“Yes!”
The knight left the temple quickly, and Elena remained in her praying posture.
“Rats hiding in the sewers only have this much capability.”
“Hmph, this is fine too. Don’t need to use much brain power.”
…
“Just hiding here?”
A hooded figure glanced at a map, then swung a sword casually, splitting a gnoll squatting in the grass ahead in half.
“An evil existence…”
Muttering to himself, the figure continued to run in a certain direction.
…
Returning to Nadia’s estate, Shelley was led to Nadia’s study by the butler.
Looking at the beautiful woman with elegant temperament sitting by the window looking out, Shelley felt his uneasy mood calm down.
As if just sensing Shelley’s presence, Nadia turned back to look at Shelley at the door and spoke softly:
“Shelley, you’re here.”
Glancing at the half-elf woman standing behind Nadia, filled with fear and panic, Shelley said:
“Respected Lady Meili, haven’t seen you for a day. No…”
“Should say, haven’t seen you for a night.”
Nadia: “?????”
Her calm and gentle expression almost collapsed, and ripples appeared in the teacup in Nadia’s hand…
How did you know???
Explain yourself clearly!!!
