Chapter 55
The broken glass was scattered on the floor, like shattered moonlight.
Sang Lu, unafraid of the potential harm from the sharp objects, climbed into the room with light and graceful movements. She stepped on the broken glass, making a crunching sound.
Coal Ball stood in front of the two of them, letting out a threatening low growl at her. But the fur on its body was clearly wet in large patches, and fresh blood was flowing down the matted cat fur.
Bai Qian’s nerves were stretched taut. She subconsciously squeezed Xia Weishuang’s hand, then flinched in pain.
Xia Weishuang’s gaze shifted, and she saw that the clothes on Bai Qian’s right shoulder were torn, revealing the scraped and bleeding skin underneath.
It was too late. No matter what the reason, if they turned and left in front of Sang Lu right now, they would definitely not succeed—the two of them and the cat had this thought at the same time.
Xia Weishuang didn’t know what was going on between Bai Qian, Coal Ball, and Sang Lu, but she clearly recognized that Sang Lu was now at an absolute advantage.
Bai Qian and Coal Ball together might not be able to last for a minute. Sang Lu probably wouldn’t show them any mercy.
Xia Weishuang gently broke free from Bai Qian’s hand and walked to Coal Ball’s side.
“Sang Lu, what happened?” Xia Weishuang tried her best to make her voice sound calm and gentle, so as not to provoke Sang Lu.
Sang Lu tilted her head, her expression even calmer than Xia Weishuang’s. “Nothing.”
Xia Weishuang was a little helpless. “If it’s nothing, why would Sister Qian come here? You shouldn’t have known each other before—Sang Lu, be honest with me. What did you do just now?”
Sang Lu let out a soft “ah.” Her eyes seemed to contain two slowly rotating whirlpools. Those eyes were so deep that they seemed to want to swallow all the light, and also the woman in front of her.
She seemed to be thinking about something and didn’t make a sound for a moment.
Bai Qian was breathing lightly. Fearing that this terrifying woman would deceive Xia Weishuang, she gritted her teeth and told her what had happened.
“When Coal Ball came back with your note, it told me it was very uneasy. It felt that woman’s killing intent. I believe in an animal’s intuition, so I changed places in advance and made some arrangements. Sure enough, she came the next night. But fortunately, she didn’t find us.”
Bai Qian gave a bitter smile and continued, “But, obviously, we’re not so lucky tonight…”
After returning empty-handed the previous night, Sang Lu had changed her strategy. The next night, she had directly carried out a violent demolition of Bai Qian’s temporary residence. Bai Qian knew at a glance that if she continued to hide, the ending would be very tragic. She made a decisive decision and fled with Coal Ball in the car.
She had set off a smoke bomb to buy herself time. Bai Qian recognized this woman’s face. That day, when she had snatched Xia Weishuang back, she had been holding a pair of binoculars and hiding in a corner, looking for an opportunity.
Bai Qian thought that she had clearly never had any contact with her, yet she had still brutally chased after her. She didn’t know what this person’s relationship with Xia Weishuang was, but her dangerousness was too high. Bai Qian was afraid that after she ran away, it would be Xia Weishuang’s turn next, so she simply drove towards the furniture city, preparing to take Xia Weishuang with her.
Unfortunately, when they were near the furniture city, Sang Lu still caught up and directly overturned their car. Coal Ball was agile and, taking Bai Qian with it, jumped out of the car and ran away, which was how Bai Qian had luckily survived.
After hearing Bai Qian’s account, Xia Weishuang seemed to be completely stunned. She shook her head gently, unable to accept for a moment that Sang Lu had attacked Bai Qian behind her back.
She had smelled Coal Ball, wasn’t it to remember the smell of this mutated beast so as not to accidentally injure it in the future?
It was for… tracking.
Bai Qian’s words seemed to have helped Sang Lu make up her mind. She suddenly chuckled.
Her entire state had changed. She was no longer hiding, and she let her inner greed and extremely distorted desires be clearly revealed.
Sang Lu raised her graceful neck, a strange, triumphant smile on her lips. “I really didn’t do, anything.”
“I just, want to clear away, everything, in Shuangshuang’s heart.”
Xia Weishuang stood where she was. The dim night gave her skin a cold and dull luster. She seemed a little puzzled, but also seemed to have understood something. She still struggled to smile and said, “Sang Lu, don’t mess around. Didn’t you promise me that you would change?”
The smile on Sang Lu’s face grew wider. “I changed, I changed. From asking Shuangshuang, to directly acting. Isn’t that better?”
Xia Weishuang’s hands began to tremble. She took a step forward, feeling a little confused. She grabbed a thought and asked anxiously, “No, you promised me you wouldn’t hurt Coal Ball! You promised me!”
Sang Lu laughed, and her stiff and exaggerated expression was mixed with excitement and malice. “Because, I lied.”
Xia Weishuang’s chest heaved violently, as if a hand were choking her, making her suffocate.
Sang Lu patiently explained to her, “This is the changed, plan. I used my brain, became smart. Shuangshuang has to like me more.”
From directly showing her unreasonable demands, to pretending to be obedient to eliminate her vigilance, so that it would be convenient to lock onto the target to be eliminated. See, how smart she was.
Sang Lu was very satisfied with herself. She also took a light step forward, cupped Xia Weishuang’s cheeks, and looked at her with some confusion. “Is Shuangshuang very angry?”
Xia Weishuang was being choked by an invisible hand, and even her voice had become a little thinner. She sniffled and said anxiously, “No, Sang Lu wouldn’t lie to me. She would do what she promised. Sang Lu is not like this—”
“But Shuangshuang,” Sang Lu looked at Xia Weishuang with an accusatory gaze, as if she were also very wronged. “You used to, also keep your promises. You also, lied to me.”
When she met her eyes, Xia Weishuang almost thought that it was really her fault. But she soon caught a cunning smile in Sang Lu’s eyes. Her teeth chattered uncontrollably, and even when she bit them tightly, they would still make a clattering sound.
Sang Lu tried to persuade Xia Weishuang, “Shuangshuang said, she would leave everyone. But I know, Shuangshuang, is here, for others.”
She bent down slightly and poked her head out. Her beautiful face was magnified in Xia Weishuang’s eyes. This posture seemed a little dangerous. Coal Ball’s waist immediately sank a little, wanting to attack. Xia Weishuang waved her hand, signaling it to stop.
Sang Lu closed her eyes and deeply sniffed the scent on Xia Weishuang. Her voice became more and more sinister. “I smell it… even with the unpleasant, smell to cover it, there is still, the smell of others.”
“Very faint, very faint… I can’t catch it. But it’s okay. I can wait. See, I’ve waited—I’ve found it.”
Through Xia Weishuang’s hair, Bai Qian saw Sang Lu’s cold eyes. They were filled with a naked killing intent. Just one glance made her feel as if she had fallen into an ice cave, and she almost wanted to turn and flee.
Warm liquid kept flowing down from the corners of Xia Weishuang’s eyes. After it flowed down her cheeks, it quickly became cold. Sang Lu stretched out her tender red tongue and licked along Xia Weishuang’s face. Her sharp, white teeth would occasionally touch Xia Weishuang’s skin, like two small knives that were constantly teasing a captive.
“There are only the two of us here,” Xia Weishuang asked helplessly. “Why do you still want to hurt others?”
“Not enough!” Sang Lu said decisively, cupping Xia Weishuang’s cheeks with a little force, her forehead against her forehead, her eyes filled with a strong and shocking obsession.
Sang Lu was a little excited. When she was excited, her eyes seemed to be covered with a layer of fog. She looked at Xia Weishuang, and at the same time, she was looking at the beautiful vision she had imagined. She wanted to fill the void in her heart, and only the woman in front of her could do it.
“Not enough, not enough,” Sang Lu said. “I already, know! Shuangshuang said she only likes me, only looks at me. That’s a lie!”
For the first time ever, Sang Lu showed a look of being about to cry. “Shuangshuang… can’t do it.”
“Shuangshuang, can never, only have me in her heart. She will think of, her sister, care about, others, and this woman, and the cat.”
“So I, thought of, the only way.”
“Eliminate, all of them,” a strange smile appeared on Sang Lu’s face. “If they’re all dead, Shuangshuang’s heart, will only have me.”
“Shuangshuang, will only be able to look at me.”
“Shuangshuang, will only like me.”
“Shuangshuang… isn’t that good?”
Xia Weishuang couldn’t see Sang Lu’s expression clearly. Her vision was blurry. Just by hearing her voice, it was like a demon whispering in her ear.
Xia Weishuang asked, “You want to… kill everyone? Including Bai Qian, including Little Xue, including Lele?”
Sang Lu said happily, “Yes! I finally found, this woman, her name is, Bai Qian.”
“What about me?” Xia Weishuang’s voice was light as she asked her, “Have you ever thought that doing this will only make me hate you? Do you really think, that I can still like you?”
“Hate…”
Sang Lu was a little puzzled. “Shuangshuang likes me. Why would she, hate me? I like Shuangshuang. No matter what, I like her. Hate…” Her eyes suddenly lit up, and she said happily, “All the emotions, I, want to be the only one. Hate me, it’s okay. I will have the Shuangshuang who only has me in her heart…”
“Eat her.”
This way, they would only have each other.
How perfect, Sang Lu thought.
It’s just that Shuangshuang has been crying. She’s a little reluctant, inexplicably reluctant. She’s reluctant to eat her right away, so she’ll do it a little later, a little slower.
But the others, must be eliminated immediately.
“Sang Lu, you weren’t like this before,” Xia Weishuang said. “You used to… you wouldn’t do this to me.”
Sang Lu suddenly frowned, let out a short “hmm,” and pulled away from Xia Weishuang a little.
She pointed to her face and said, “Sang… Lu!”
Xia Weishuang raised her hand to wipe the water from her face. It was cool and made her feel very uncomfortable.
Sang Lu said, “The past, I remember.”
Her eyes were full of liquid. Xia Weishuang couldn’t focus. Sang Lu was a blurry human figure in her eyes, but she still tried to look at her.
Sang Lu smiled and said, “It’s just, I don’t understand.”
Xia Weishuang’s nose was stuffy, and she let out a trembling question.
Sang Lu also seemed a little puzzled. Her messy long hair trembled with her voice. “Shuangshuang, do you prefer, a person who pretends? Clearly, I want you very much, but I still pretend to be rational. Clearly, I want to control all of Shuangshuang, but I pretend to be indulgent—this is called playing hard to get. Why, do you have to do this?”
Sang Lu was high and mighty, passing a contemptuous judgment on the person of the past:
“Don’t like the past. Now, I am the real one. Shuangshuang, just like me. The so-called past is just hypocrisy, and what you see is a false image. I don’t understand, why do you have to deceive yourself, deceive others? But Shuangshuang likes it, so I also lied. Why is Shuangshuang angry again? Then I, won’t lie—I’ll do what I want to do.” Besides, she was about to be unable to hold back anyway.
Everyone was wondering if the monster in front of them was really Sang Lu, but she was saying that the Sang Lu of the past was a false illusion.
She was a monster that had abandoned all hypocrisy and faced this world with her truest inner self. The only one who had made her try to learn to pretend according to her memory was Xia Weishuang.
But now, it was no longer needed.
Xia Weishuang raised her hand and wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. “I’ll ask you one last time. What do you want to do?”
Sang Lu’s charming and slender eyes curved. She said, “Eliminate everyone, and be with Shuangshuang forever, together!”
Then she looked at Bai Qian, with an indifferent gaze like the god of death.
A strange sound came from Sang Lu’s body. The cold body under her skirt gradually underwent a strange change, like plasticine. Several tentacles branched out from it and emerged from Sang Lu’s back.
As soon as the change occurred, the stimulated Coal Ball let out a “woo” and swept Xia Weishuang away with its tail—it thought the enemy was going to attack Xia Weishuang, who was closest to her.
Xia Weishuang fell onto the bed. This move actually interrupted Sang Lu’s thoughts—it was also the first time she had encountered a countermeasure that pushed Xia Weishuang away first.
Sang Lu was a little angry, and also a little worried.
She wanted to eat Xia Weishuang, but she didn’t want anything else to hurt her.
Sang Lu’s eyes sharpened. Just as she was about to kill Coal Ball, she heard the sound of stumbling footsteps from behind. Xia Weishuang was approaching. Inevitably, Sang Lu’s attention was diverted to her.
Xia Weishuang opened her arms and hugged Sang Lu tightly.
Sang Lu was a little surprised, her thoughts in a mess. She couldn’t understand why Xia Weishuang would hate her if she liked her. If she hated her, why would she hug her? Hugging her, wasn’t it because she liked her?
She smelled the smell of alcohol. She saw the wine bottle hidden behind Xia Weishuang’s back.
Sang Lu hated alcohol, but this smell came from between Xia Weishuang’s lips. She still found it difficult to understand Xia Weishuang, to understand complex emotions, and she couldn’t figure out what Xia Weishuang was going to do.
But when Xia Weishuang brought her soft, pale lips up, she still kissed her, because she liked her, so she did it.
Then, Xia Weishuang’s tongue, with the spicy taste of wine and a hint of sweetness, pushed open Sang Lu’s lips and teeth. The strong white wine poured into Sang Lu’s body.
It hurts.
Sang Lu reached out and touched her heart, but there, that organ was actually no longer there.
