Chapter 64: There’s Another Surprise

Su Mengyao and Su Mengli were still wondering how much longer it would take him to return when they suddenly realized he had already come back at some point, leading a girl with him.

What a cute girl. Once Su Mengli and Su Mengyao got a clear look at the girl standing behind him, a flicker of surprise appeared on their faces.

After all, they themselves were stunning beauties, and even someone as pretty as Yan Nuoya could only be said to be on par with them.

But Bai Shishi was different. Her features already leaned toward an adorably cute style, and today she was wearing a sailor uniform, complemented by her white hair and red eyes. For a moment, they thought she was cosplaying some anime character.

Su Mengyao glanced at her white hair and immediately recalled that classmate of his whom she had seen right here that evening.

Both of them had white hair—though with slight differences—and this was only the third white-haired person she had ever encountered in her life.

Moreover, both had such striking looks. Could they be sisters?

“Is this… your classmate’s little sister?” Su Mengyao asked hesitantly. “Does that classmate even know you’ve brought her little sister here?”

Bai Shishi froze. Little sister? She had no idea she even had an older sister.

Mo Xiangwen paused for a second as well, but he quickly figured out which classmate Su Mengyao meant.

“No, there’s no blood relation between them,” he said, shaking his head.

Su Mengyao only grew more puzzled. “Then where on earth did you pick up such a cute girl?”

“Hey, what kind of way is that to put it? You think I’m the type?”

Su Mengyao blinked innocently and grinned. “I think you just might be.”

Mo Xiangwen shot her a glare, his face darkening, but she met it with an unabashed smile.

“So, where exactly did this adorable little sister come from? She doesn’t look like a college student.”

“Ahem, hold on,” Mo Xiangwen said with a fake cough. He turned to Bai Shishi. “Shishi, do you want to introduce yourself, or should I do it for you?”

Bai Shishi gave his hand a gentle tug and gestured for him to lower himself.

Mo Xiangwen obediently crouched down halfway, only for Bai Shishi to step closer. She tiptoed and whispered in his ear, “Are they the President and Xiao Huo?”

Her warm breath brushed against his ear, making it tingle, but he nodded anyway.

Su Mengli and Su Mengyao watched the two of them curiously. What could possibly require whispering?

“Then I can handle it myself.”

As if psyching herself up, Bai Shishi raised her voice just a touch.

“Mm, you’ve got this, Shishi,” Mo Xiangwen said encouragingly, giving her a supportive look before straightening up.

“Hello, President and Xiao Huo…”

Bai Shishi’s small hands clutched the hem of her clothes tightly as she took a deep breath.

“I’m Bai Shishi…”

She had originally planned to say a bit more before revealing that she was Bai Bai.

But under the weight of their gazes, her little face flushed bright red. She racked her brain for ages, but nothing came to mind for her next line.

Come on, say something! It’s the President and Xiao Huo—they’re not strangers. Anxious, Bai Shishi kept urging herself on in her head.

It was strange. Just earlier, when she’d greeted him and introduced herself, she’d been perfectly fluent.

Mo Xiangwen noticed something off in her expression. He stepped forward, placed a hand on her shoulder, and gently pulled her behind him.

Bai Shishi suddenly felt herself tugged back. His figure now blocked their line of sight, and that heavy, suffocating pressure lifted instantly.

It was like being pulled from quicksand. She gulped down fresh air, her heart easing from the grip of fear.

Su Mengli shot a worried glance at Bai Shishi, who was now hidden behind him, and gave Mo Xiangwen a meaningful look.

In truth, Su Mengli had already guessed that she was Bai Bai the moment she greeted them—especially after hearing the name Bai Shishi. That suspicion had turned into certainty.

But since Bai Shishi clearly had more to say, basic courtesy had kept Su Mengli from interrupting her introduction.

Mo Xiangwen shook his head and mouthed, “It’s fine.”

If Bai Shishi wanted to push through on her own, he intended to give her every chance.

After a short while, Bai Shishi finally started to recover from her nerves.

She glanced at the reassuring back in front of her, lightly grasped the corner of his shirt, and mustered her courage. “I’m Bai Bai from the group. Nice to meet you.”

Su Mengyao let out a quiet cheer—after all, this was a public spot, not a private booth, so she was mindful of her and her sister’s image.

Su Mengli gave a soft clap. “I didn’t expect Mo Xiangwen to bring Bai Bai along. Hi there, Bai Bai.”

Welcomed at last, Bai Shishi let out a sigh of relief and slowly stepped out from behind him.

It felt like she’d just scaled a towering peak. Suddenly, the tension didn’t seem so overwhelming anymore.

“Hi, Bai Bai. I’m the President.” Su Mengli smiled and extended her hand. “My name’s Su Mengli. Just call me Mengli.”

Bai Shishi stood there hesitating for a long moment, her hand nowhere in sight.

Su Mengli didn’t rush her, simply holding her pose with a gentle smile.

It wasn’t until her arm started to ache and she was about to give up that Bai Shishi timidly reached out and took her hand.

“Hi, Sister Mengli. You can call me Shishi.”

Su Mengli’s eyes lit up. She desperately wanted to pull her into a hug, but worried it might scare her off, so she held back.

“Got it. I’ll call you Shishi from now on.”

Su Mengyao, meanwhile, brimmed with excitement. She even circled around the table to stand beside Bai Shishi, startling the girl into taking a small step back.

Su Mengyao coughed awkwardly to cover her enthusiasm and extended her hand with barely contained eagerness.

“Hi, Bai Bai. I’m Su Mengyao—Xiao Huo.”

Bai Shishi eyed the two identical faces and asked hesitantly, “Xiao Huo… and the President—are you twins?”

“Yep! She’s just a few minutes older than me,” Su Mengyao confirmed with a vigorous nod.

Bai Shishi seemed to be warming up to things. This time, she directly grasped Su Mengyao’s hand.

“Hi, Sister Mengyao. I’m Bai Shishi.”

Ah, she was finally getting a taste of being the big sister.

Su Mengyao felt like she might faint from sheer bliss. She nodded emphatically. “Can I call you my little sister from now on? And can I give you a hug?”

At Su Mengyao’s words, Bai Shishi hurriedly ducked behind him again, clutching his shirt as if it offered some sense of safety.

Only her small head peeked out, forcing a stiff smile as she shook it.

“No… you can’t.”

Su Mengyao didn’t get discouraged. Meeting Bai Bai was thrilling enough, and hearing “Sister Mengyao” was an unexpected bonus.

There would be plenty of time ahead. No rush.

“Sorry about that. How about I just call you Shishi then?”

“Mm.” Bai Shishi nodded lightly from her spot behind him.

Su Mengyao returned to her seat, beaming with satisfaction.

Mo Xiangwen sighed to himself. He’d been hoping to hear her call him “brother” too. No such luck, judging by her reaction.

He knew it was a bit shameless, but the allure of a beautiful girl calling him “big brother” was hard to resist.

No hurry. There would be other chances. And if he could get a “senior” from the upperclassmen someday, that would be even better.

Once Su Mengyao had settled back into her seat, Bai Shishi let out another breath and stepped forward again.

Suddenly, Mo Xiangwen’s phone started buzzing nonstop. He pulled it out and saw messages from the dorm group chat.

Alarm Clock: Bro, don’t say I didn’t warn you—get downstairs quick.

Alarm Clock: Classmate Yan’s on the first floor. Looks like she’s spotted you.

Xi Shao: Classmate Yan’s expression is kinda dark. I felt a chill just passing by.

Xi Shao: We three figured she was in a bad mood from some relative visiting, but nope—upstairs she sees you chatting with a bunch of beauties.

Alarm Clock: No kidding her mood would sour.

Alarm Clock: Anyway, big drama unfolding. We’re not sticking around to watch—slipping out now.

Xi Shao: Bro, even ladies’ men need to watch their backs.

Qin Shao: If you can’t handle it, shoot me a message. Bro’ll call and bail you out.

Mo Xiangwen shook his head with an amused smile and fired off a reply.

Lao Mo: Alright, it’s not what you think. Got it, thanks. I’ll treat you guys later.

No rush. There was still another surprise in store, and everything was proceeding exactly according to plan.
