Yue Yiyue turned her head and glanced at the other’s name plaque, which read “Qi Tie”.
She said nothing and plunged straight into the passage. The five minutes were precious, and she did not think the owner here would give her a chance to make mistakes.
The stairwell was dimly lit. Only the dim green emergency exit signs emitted an eerie green light.
Yue Yiyue looked up and saw several employees heading upward.
Viewed from behind, their backs were hunched as they mechanically lifted their feet to the upper floors.
It was very strange.
It was as if something odd lurked in this staircase.
Yue Yiyue glanced at the stairs, calculated the time, then took the steps two at a time, climbing rapidly.
There was no feeling of fatigue, nor any sense of immense pressure bearing down.
It felt just like the times she’d run stairs before.
Yue Yiyue quickly climbed toward the Thirteenth Floor.
Behind her were some envious gazes from others.
But soon they had no time even for envy. The exhaustion from long hours of work weighed them down, leaving them numbly continuing their climb.
Be on time…….
Be fast……
Be efficient…….
Don’t drag the team down…….
Every time Yue Yiyue passed someone, she heard such a whisper.
What kind of strange brainwashing was this?
She noted this anomaly in her mind, then looked up at the sign. The Thirteenth Floor had arrived.
She set down the files in her hands just as the five-minute countdown ended.
Yue Yiyue looked at the conference room with its large round table. Golden name plaques listed several people’s names.
She did not understand these things and did not care much.
She handed the items to the staff member and snapped a photo for the record.
Yue Yiyue watched the staff member, whose brows furrowed, but he still didn’t stop her.
“Can I leave now?” Yue Yiyue stood in place and asked.
“No, you can’t. How can a newbie like you be so clueless?” The staff member holding the files furrowed his brows tighter. “Is there hot tea inside?”
“What are you standing there for? Get to work.” Seeing how oblivious this newbie was, the staff member shoved her. “People will arrive in half an hour. For such a serious meeting, can you afford to delay it?”
Yue Yiyue looked over. In the corner sat porcelain cups, with a steaming pot of water beside them.
She confirmed once more. “You want me to pour hot water?”
“Yeah,” the staff member yelled, shoving Yue Yiyue again. “Why so much nonsense when I tell you to work? When the bosses arrive, you’ll regret it.”
Yue Yiyue gave a baffled smile, then walked to the corner.
The gurgling sound of pouring water soon filled the room. Yue Yiyue deftly filled the cups. As she passed a certain name plaque, her hand flipped, and she continued nonchalantly to the next.
When she reached the frontmost position, Yue Yiyue stared at the simple “Qiu” character on the plaque and paused.
She silently diluted the water in that cup with some cold water, then grabbed a handful of the nearby black goo and tossed it in.
She did not know what it was, but since it was placed there, it had to be something good.
For the others, nothing—just plain water was fine.
With everything done, Yue Yiyue did not ask what else he wanted this time. She planned to find an empty spot to hide first.
Then she’d meet up with Gu Nanqiu.
“Did I say you could leave?” The staff member nearby held his items and frowned at Yue Yiyue. Seeing no reaction, he raised his voice. “I said, did I say you could leave?”
“You, turn on the computer, bring up the PPT, and tidy the green plants over there.” He checked his watch. “It starts in twenty-five minutes. Then sit by the side, take a group photo with the presidents, and record the meeting highlights. Hand it to me before the end of the afternoon shift.”
“……” Yue Yiyue looked at him. “And what about you? What do you do?”
“I naturally have more important things. Why ask so many questions? You’re a newbie—this is your chance to train.”
……
Listening to his repetitive nagging, Yue Yiyue thought for a moment but did not refuse his demands.

As soon as the person left, Yue Yiyue immediately noticed the computer had been tampered with. No matter what she tried, it showed no response.
She turned and scanned the entire conference room. Nothing was there.
She pushed open the door and looked into the corridor.
That person seemed to have left on some errand. The corridor was empty, and the nearby doors stood open.
She tiptoed across, confirmed the room was empty, and began searching for useful materials.
Perhaps due to a corner of her memory loosening, Yue Yiyue did all this with familiar ease.
Her gaze swept the room as she searched by habit.
On the bookshelf, the first item was the rules for this building, in familiar handwriting.
Yue Yiyue read the first one: Employees who signed labor contracts must abide by the building’s regulations.
The dozens of following clauses elaborated on how employees should mindlessly devote themselves to the company without expecting returns.
The densely packed text screamed one thing to Yue Yiyue: man-eating.
Whoever worked here was out of luck.
Turning to the next page, it said that reaching 100 points allowed promotion to management.
The latter part described how management should control employees, making them willingly devote themselves to the company for maximum profit.
And how to manipulate these employees.
Placed together, Yue Yiyue suspected a trick, yet she inexplicably trusted these documents.
It was as if she knew who had prepared them in advance to guide her. A name quickly surfaced in her mind.
Fine. Though her memory had not fully recovered, Yue Yiyue believed that person could certainly do such a thing.
This way, everything could end sooner, and she could go back to holding her and sleeping soundly.
She confirmed the employee markers again.
Uniform attire and gray name plaques.
Good—she had neither, so her identity here did not match an employee.
Then what exactly was her role here?
She was a bit curious, but not much.
She set down the items and picked up other materials on these rules nearby.
Soon Yue Yiyue held seven death reports, over twenty pieces of gossip from the Small Path, two keychains from who-knows-where.
A heart-marked note reminded her that the Surveillance Room was here too.
This person really was…….
Not afraid at all that the Main God would notice her cheating—doing it so openly.
But the Main God’s most favored child would ultimately turn a blind eye to it.
Moreover, the monsters here wanted to do things beyond the Main God’s plans, already veering into loss of control.
Getting rid of them casually—surely the Main God could understand.

She returned to the conference room right on time. As the door closed, the elevator outside clattered to life.
Three minutes later, voices rose in greeting at the door—”President so-and-so.”
With the door opening, the staff member who had just ordered Yue Yiyue around saw the room just as he expected—everything in place.
He kept his head low in the back row, gloating at the newbie who dared ignore Brother Tie.
Tch, this’ll teach her. Newbies could be dealt with casually anyway—plenty of fuel in the company.
Yue Yiyue stood by the projector, fiddling with something in her hand as she appeared to diligently make repairs.
Hearing people enter, she turned her head and locked eyes with the leader.
It was President Mu Hongcai, who had already dropped dead at her desk on the computer footage Yue Yiyue had seen.
She looked much healthier than in the photo.
Her permed curls looked stylish. Even in this winter, she wore leather clothes with a mini leather skirt and small heels.
Yue Yiyue gave an apologetic smile. “Sorry, this projector was deliberately sabotaged before.”
“Seems someone really wanted to kill someone off and tried to frame me as the scapegoat.”
Yue Yiyue waved the item in her hand. “But I happened to get hold of surveillance footage from here.”
Mu Hongcai glanced over. “You seem to think you’re valuable enough to be framed. I only know you didn’t do your job.”
“So you’re saying you can just sentence someone—who hasn’t even signed a contract with you—to death?” Yue Yiyue raised her voice slightly, looking puzzled. Her gaze slid past Mu Hongcai to her partner behind. “Then… if you want to swallow someone’s assets, it’s just a word?”
With that, Yue Yiyue had no time for more talk and headed outside.
She was not bound by the Rules here. If they wanted to kill her, let them try— in a real fight, they might not gain the upper hand.
Mu Hongcai watched Yue Yiyue, somewhat baffled. “Why are you so brazen?”
“Even to the point of not taking me seriously?”
“Because I don’t know you.” Yue Yiyue stopped, turned, and shrugged. “I’m not even a passing acquaintance with you, yet your company employee inexplicably bossed me around.”
Yue Yiyue curled her lip. “Truth be told, after graduation, I wouldn’t want to join your company anyway.”
“I see…….”
“Alright, everyone look—no ties, and that’s how they treat company people.” Mu Hongcai clapped. “That’s why we must grasp firmly what they fear.”
“Like this little one here, who gave a perfect demonstration. Knowing she was about to die, she followed orders without hesitation. But once she knew she had no ties to the company, her face changed instantly.”
Mu Hongcai rubbed her hand. “You’re really interesting.”
She walked to her seat, touched the redwood chair, picked up the cup of water in front of her, and took a sip.
Perfect temperature. She narrowed her eyes. “Your tea-brewing has some use. How about being a cleaner here to stay alive?”
“No need.” Yue Yiyue watched her finish the water. With her tasks done, she stretched lazily. “More than that, I think your partners should worry about their lives first.”
“I heard you’re recently dissatisfied with A City’s funding chain—unable to find that person, so you want them to send over anyone remotely suitable, even just thirty percent similar.”
This info was too complex. Yue Yiyue unfolded the crumpled paper in her hand, squinted at it, and read aloud. “Du Jian, right? Your daughter’s sixteen and on the list too—apparently for a face swap and training.”
“Ge Junchu, are you here? This Mu Hongcai has her eye on your family’s land, planning some golden house affair, with your death set for a car explosion tomorrow afternoon at three.”
“Chang Chengyun, watch out too. She wants to dig up your family grave and alter your fate for her stand-ins in training.”
“You’re all the unlucky ones she carefully picked.” Yue Yiyue sighed.
One person’s interests couldn’t shake a position, but a group’s could.
Yue Yiyue laid out all the info painstakingly gathered by her predecessors for the crowd.
Yue Yiyue’s skill, Stir Up Trouble—activated.
