Chapter 38: Wingman
=====================
The next day, they got up, had breakfast, and went to Bei Yuan’s coffee shop as usual. It was cold, and there weren’t many pedestrians outside. But after they opened for business, there was a lot of traffic, all thanks to the social media posts from the people yesterday. They all wanted to come and see if it was as good as they said.
When they really saw He Jingsu and the others, they instantly felt that the trip was worth it. How could they all be so cute?! And their cuteness was all different!
And the boss, she also looked so soft, spoke in a soft voice, and was also amazing!
Many people also asked for Bei Yuan’s contact information. When Huai Sheng found out about this later, she was furious. How dare someone have designs on her wife? For a long time after that, Huai Sheng stayed at the coffee shop, staring at those who had improper thoughts about Bei Yuan with a cold gaze!
In the end, it made those people feel as if they were sitting on pins and needles, as if they were being stared at by a fierce beast.
The day passed in a fun and playful way.
When it was time to get off work in the evening, Bei Yuan, as usual, gave the little cubs their salary. He Jingsu held the salary, thinking that she had to go home early today, otherwise she was afraid the money would be scammed by someone again!
But Bei Queting asked her to wait a moment. The two of them went to the stall where they had bought the hats last night and bought two more.
“From last night, it seemed Aunt Jing also liked it a lot,” Bei Queting explained.
“Okay!” He Jingsu had a sudden realization. She touched the one she was wearing on her head. It was indeed very pretty! It was normal for Mommy to like it!
The two of them bought the hats and were about to go back, but as they passed a park, He Jingsu suddenly stopped.
She suddenly stopped walking. Bei Queting stopped, puzzled, and followed her gaze to see why He Jingsu had stopped.
Not far away, two women were walking side by side. As they walked, their fingertips seemed to touch, and then they were holding hands!
After they held hands, neither of them looked at each other, still walking as if nothing had happened.
Bei Queting looked at He Jingsu again and, sure enough, saw a thoughtful expression on her face.
She thought for a moment, then her eyes lit up, and she ran forward.
Bei Queting was speechless. It was too late to pull her back. In the end, she had to brace herself and chase after He Jingsu.
Seeing the two little cubs suddenly appear, Hu Tu was startled and, at the same time, quickly let go of the hand she was holding, as if she were guilty.
“…”
“Aunt Hu!” He Jingsu called out happily.
“Aunt Hu,” Bei Queting called out, a little awkwardly.
Hu Tu: “…What are you doing here?” She glanced at the woman beside her out of the corner of her eye. Seeing that her expression hadn’t changed much, she was both relieved and a little disappointed.
It was very complicated.
He Jingsu tilted her head and said, “Aunt Hu, I saw you holding hands!”
Hu Tu: “!!!”
She quickly looked at the woman beside her, her expression almost cracking. She had never expected He Jingsu to say such a thing.
The woman looked at the girl who had just said something shocking and suddenly smiled gently, reminding Hu Tu, “You haven’t introduced me yet.”
“Oh, right.” Hu Tu cleared her throat and, where the woman couldn’t see, shot a glare at He Jingsu, signaling her to be careful with her words.
“They’re my friends’ children. This is He Jingsu, you can just call her Daidai. Let me tell you, she’s just like her name, incredibly dazed. The one next to her is Bei Queting, you can just call her Little Ting. If you call her Beibei, the possessive one next to her might want to fight you.”
Bei Queting pressed her lips together and smiled.
He Jingsu was not happy. “You’re the dazed one! You’re the possessive one!”
The woman couldn’t help but smile at Hu Tu’s introduction. She looked at the two of them and said warmly, “My name is Qu Yu. You can also call me Aunt Qu.”
“Oh,” He Jingsu nodded, then asked very seriously, “I saw you holding hands earlier. Are you dating?”
Qu Yu blinked a little slowly.
Hu Tu quickly rushed over and covered He Jingsu’s mouth, her voice a little gritted. “What nonsense are you talking about!”
Hadn’t she just signaled her? Didn’t she see her look!
Bei Queting was also stunned for a moment by He Jingsu’s shocking words. Then she looked at Hu Tu’s extremely embarrassed expression and felt she might know what stage they were in.
Probably in the ambiguous stage.
He Jingsu frowned, reached up, and pulled her hand down, saying unhappily, “I’m not talking nonsense! The TV show I watched yesterday was just like this!”
“Mommy also said that they would kiss later, and they would also sleep naked together. So are you like that too?”
Hearing her words, Hu Tu almost fainted. She looked at Qu Yu in a panic and explained, “Look, I told you, she’s very dazed. You can just listen to her words, don’t take them seriously.”
Qu Yu pressed her lips together and didn’t answer whether she had taken them seriously or not.
He Jingsu’s face wrinkled unhappily. “This is clearly what Mommy told me!”
As if she had thought of something, she added, “Don’t you want to spend your money on her?”
Hearing this, Qu Yu’s gaze toward Hu Tu became a little meaningful.
Hu Tu: “???” What was all this about! Why was it about spending money now!
“You’re talking nonsense! Who said I don’t want to!” Hu Tu said quickly in a panic.
“Then you like her,” He Jingsu scratched her face. “Mom said that if you like someone, you’ll want to spend money on them.”
Hu Tu was speechless. How did those two teach their little cub!
Bei Queting, on the side, couldn’t help but let out a low laugh. She tugged on He Jingsu, signaling her not to say any more.
For some reason, it felt like Daidai was just showing off her half-baked knowledge.
After hearing He Jingsu’s words, Qu Yu’s gaze fell on Hu Tu, which made it difficult for Hu Tu to deny or admit.
She felt very panicked.
Seeing that Hu Tu was not speaking, Qu Yu’s gaze dimmed slightly. A kind and understanding smile appeared on her lips as she changed the subject. “Have you eaten yet?”
“Not yet,” Bei Queting shook her head. They were just on their way home when they ran into them.
“We’re also going to eat. Want to join us?” Qu Yu invited.
Hu Tu, on the side, heard this and quickly signaled to Bei Queting. She didn’t want them to come along. It would have been fine if it were just Bei Queting, but with He Jingsu, she was really afraid she would drop another bombshell on her!
Bei Queting received Hu Tu’s signal and gave Qu Yu an apologetic smile. “Sorry, our family is waiting for us to go home for dinner. You and Aunt Hu should go together. We’ll be going home now.”
With that, she took He Jingsu, said goodbye to them, and then quickly disappeared from their sight.
After the two little cubs left, Hu Tu was so embarrassed she could have dug a hole and crawled into it. The atmosphere between the two of them had been quite good before, but He Jingsu’s antics had made her not know how to face Qu Yu.
“They’re quite cute,” Qu Yu said with a light laugh, walking forward.
Hu Tu quickly followed her steps and cleared her throat. “They are quite cute.”
But they were also a real pain!
Hu Tu was also worried about another thing. Since He Jingsu had seen them, He Ying and the others would definitely know too! When they asked her about it, she didn’t know how to answer.
**
On the other side, after pulling He Jingsu away, Bei Queting stopped and looked at her, laughing.
He Jingsu looked at her, bewildered. “Beibei, what are you laughing at?”
Bei Queting’s laughter still couldn’t be stopped. She thought of how He Jingsu had dropped one bombshell after another, completely blowing Hu Tu’s cover.
But from the looks of it, it should have indirectly helped Hu Tu a little?
“Daidai, in the future, don’t just ask people if they’re dating,” Bei Queting let out a low laugh. “It will be awkward for them.”
“Don’t just ask if they’re dating.” He Jingsu was a little puzzled. Although she didn’t know what was so awkward about it, since Beibei had said so, she wouldn’t just ask in the future.
“Then can I ask if you’re willing to spend money on her?” He Jingsu asked tentatively.
Bei Queting was speechless.
She couldn’t hold it in and her eyes curved into a smile. She reached out and ruffled He Jingsu’s soft little face, saying cruelly, “You can’t just ask that either.”
How could this person be so cute?
He Jingsu’s eyebrows drooped. “Then what can I ask?”
Mom hadn’t told her there were other things to say.
“Don’t ask anything. If they’re really dating, they’ll tell you when their relationship is stable, without you asking,” Bei Queting said patiently, afraid that she would rashly ask someone else in the future. This time it was Hu Tu, who was familiar with them and knew Daidai’s personality. If it were someone else she wasn’t familiar with, the scene would be extremely awkward.
“Oh.” He Jingsu puffed out her cheeks, but in the end, she chose to listen to Bei Queting.
The two of them returned home. He Jingsu, as expected, had no secrets at home and told He Ying and the others about seeing Hu Tu, and even added seriously, “That aunt is very pretty!”
“Oh?” He Ying was a little surprised. To be able to get a compliment from Daidai, it seemed she was really very pretty.
This little cub had a hard time remembering people’s faces. She wouldn’t care about unimportant people. The only ones she would care about were probably those who were so good-looking that she remembered them.
“But is there something going on with Hu Tu?” He Ying rubbed her chin thoughtfully. This one had said she didn’t know what she liked at Bei Yuan’s wedding.
“Is there or not? Just ask her and you’ll know,” Jing Dan said, taking out her phone, planning to call Hu Tu.
“Hey, wait!” He Ying quickly stopped her. “Didn’t Daidai say they were going to eat? They might be eating now. Won’t it be a disturbance if you call?”
“Oh, that seems to be true,” Jing Dan also realized. She didn’t call and instead sent a message to Hu Tu, asking her to call them back when she was free.
Hu Tu, who was eating, saw her message and was speechless.
She knew Daidai’s mouth couldn’t be trusted!
“What are you looking at?” Qu Yu asked, seeing her staring at her phone as if she were trying to burn a hole through it.
Hu Tu quickly turned off her phone. “N-nothing, just saw a piece of news.”
“What news?” Qu Yu’s lips curved into a smile as she asked deliberately.
Hu Tu was stuck for a moment. What news had she seen? But she had already said it. If she said she didn’t know what news it was, wouldn’t she be slapping her own face?
“I-I just saw a news report about a child who can’t lie, always tells the truth, so she can’t keep a secret.” She was talking about that little brat, He Jingsu!
He Ying, oh He Ying, those genes were wasted! Daidai didn’t inherit any of her cunningness!
“Is that so?” Qu Yu said, a little meaningfully. “The child in the news you’re talking about is quite similar to that Daidai from earlier.”
Hu Tu was speechless. I’m talking about her!
“A-a coincidence, I guess,” Hu Tu said with a sheepish smile.
Qu Yu smiled, then her smile gradually faded, and her gaze toward Hu Tu became serious. “Hu Tu, you know I’ve been in a relationship before.”
Hu Tu’s face stiffened, and her heart slowly rose, very nervous.
“I-I know.”
“That relationship…” Qu Yu paused for a moment when she said this, then smiled faintly. “If she hadn’t betrayed me, I think we would have been together for the rest of our lives. But unfortunately, her betrayal made it impossible for me to accept being with her anymore.”
“In a relationship, I hate betrayal the most.”
Hearing her words, Hu Tu’s throat slowly bobbed. Her mind was a little dazed, and she suddenly didn’t know what to say.
“Hu Tu, can you accept a me who has had a past relationship? I admit I loved her very much, but all that love disappeared the moment she betrayed me.”
Hu Tu’s mind went blank in an instant. She stared at Qu Yu, as if she couldn’t believe her words.
She had not expected, nor had she ever thought, that it would be Qu Yu who would be the first to break the ice between them.
“Hu Tu?” Qu Yu called out.
Hu Tu’s throat bobbed, her voice a little dry. “You should know what kind of person I was before. Can you accept the me from back then?”
“Then are you still in that playful mindset now?”
Hu Tu immediately shook her head. She was no longer in that mindset.
After seeing her friends’ relationships all end happily, she had come to understand that it was never the relationship that was wrong, but the person.
Seeing Hu Tu shake her head, Qu Yu slowly smiled, her gaze toward Hu Tu softening. “People look forward. Why dwell on the past?”
“Hu Tu, will you be with me?”
Hearing her gentle but firm words, Hu Tu suddenly felt her eyes heat up, and her vision gradually blurred.
“Why are you crying?” Qu Yu sighed softly, her tone full of indulgence.
She took out a tissue and moved closer to her, gently wiping her tears, her expression gentle, like water that could tolerate everything.
Hu Tu stared at her in a daze. It was this gentleness and indulgence toward her that had attracted her. Later, she had even started to imagine what it would be like if she lived with Qu Yu for the rest of her life.
And then she discovered that not only did she not reject this idea, but she even felt a rush of blood.
She wanted to be with Qu Yu.
The kind of being together where both were serious about the relationship.
“Qu Yu, I’m afraid I’ll hurt you,” Hu Tu said, her voice a little choked. She had never been in a serious relationship. She didn’t know how to be in a serious relationship. She was afraid she wouldn’t do it well.
“Then how can you be sure that you will hurt me, and not that I will hurt you?” Qu Yu chuckled softly, ruffled her head, and said softly, “Hu Tu, you have to be bolder. Don’t be so afraid of relationships. As long as you don’t betray me, you won’t hurt me. Other things, I think, can all be solved through communication.”
“For example, if one day we no longer like each other, I also hope we can be honest about it.”
Hu Tu stared at Qu Yu in a daze. She was really like a gentle big sister, leading her forward.
“Still haven’t decided to answer my question?” Qu Yu smiled at her.
Hu Tu reached out and hugged her, burying her face in her shoulder and choking out, “Okay.”
Hearing her answer, Qu Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief and let out a light laugh.
She hugged her back tightly.
**
On the other side, He Ying and the others still didn’t know that Hu Tu had really found someone she wanted to spend her life with. They were still planning how to be her wingman.
After all, they didn’t know if that Hu Tu would dare to confess. If she didn’t, wouldn’t she need their help?
But He Jingsu knew nothing of the adults’ schemes. She was currently thinking about one thing.
Should I sleep naked?
