Zhang Muchun, the third daughter of the town butcher, put down her cleaver after hearing some local gossip and went to work as a maid for the wealthy Liu family.

But just a few days into her new job, the Liu family went bankrupt. In the aftermath, the household scattered, and everyone found a place to go—everyone, that is, except for the pampered young miss, Liu Yunhe, whom no one would take.

This young lady was more difficult to serve than a celestial fairy from the heavens. The wrong fabric would give her a rash; the wrong food would upset her stomach. Her face couldn’t see the sun, and her hands couldn’t lift a thing. To top it all off, she had a dramatic and pretentious personality. Despite being a beauty more delicate than a flower bud, she had become a hot potato that everyone desperately avoided.

Muchun had planned to take her savings and run. But looking at the pitiful young miss sitting there, so utterly forlorn, she couldn’t bear it. On a sudden impulse, Muchun took the beauty with her. But as the saying goes, it’s easier to invite a god than to send one away. The beautiful burden was now hers to keep!

She thought that once they returned to her village, with two acres of land and a small hut, she could pick up her butcher’s cleaver again and they would manage to get by. Who knew that fate had other plans? Before they could even finish repairing the house, a once-in-a-century flood struck. With no other choice, Zhang Muchun had to rely on her brute strength and her trusty cleaver to flee the disaster with her delicate lady and the rest of the village.

Ever since her family’s downfall, the pampered young miss, Liu Yunhe, has been afflicted with a strange illness. At night, she is plagued by peculiar dreams, and what’s more terrifying is that these dreams eventually come true. She is living in constant fear.

Just as disaster struck and it was every man for himself, that coarse maid who used to do manual labor in the courtyard offered to take her away. Yunhe doesn’t even dare to look her in the eye. Because in her dreams, she has seen the two of them in an intensely intimate and passionate embrace. In those dreams, the same coarse hands that could chop through bone with a single strike were far too audacious, causing her heart to pound like a drum whenever she so much as sees the butcher girl now.
