Chapter 29 p1: Love
Before her was a field of wildflowers, stretching for tens of meters. The flowers were a mix of white and yellow, looking a bit like chrysanthemums, but not quite.
The flowers bloomed in profusion, with butterflies dancing and bees collecting nectar. It was a magnificent sight.
A rich floral fragrance wafted in the air.
“Wow!”
Yu Chujin exclaimed. She had never expected such a large sea of flowers in this dark and gloomy forest.
It was as beautiful as a paradise.
She quickly jumped off the snake’s body. Not wanting to trample the flowers, she just ran to the edge of the flower field. Looking at the scene before her, she couldn’t help but smile as she marveled at it.
Beautiful scenery always made people happy.
“So beautiful,” Yu Chujin turned her head to look at the large snake beside her, “Did you bring me here specifically to see the sea of flowers?”
The large snake: “Hiss hiss.”
Yu Chujin smiled, “I didn’t expect you, a large snake, to be so romantic. You know how to give me flowers, and you even know how to bring me to see a sea of flowers. How romantic. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding a partner in the future. A snake that knows how to coax people is rare.”
The large snake: “Hiss hiss.”
“Are you an adult snake? Are you at the age to find a partner? You follow me around all day. Don’t you need to find a mate?”
“Hiss hiss.”
Yu Chujin rubbed her chin, “There don’t seem to be any of your kind on this island. If you want to find a mate, where would you go?”
The large snake’s large eyes were dazed, “Hiss hiss.”
“Animals usually find a mate in the spring. It’s summer now, so it’s not time yet, right? I understand.”
“Hiss hiss.”
Yu Chujin would say a sentence, and the large snake would hiss once. It was a back-and-forth.
“I hope I can leave this place before next spring. Otherwise, if you go to find a mate and leave me here, how will I survive alone?”
She had been fishing for several days with no results. Either the hook would come off, or no fish would bite at all. She could only pick up some conches to eat, but those things were not filling at all.
The forest was rich in food, but there were large beasts like wild boars inside. It was too dangerous, and she didn’t dare to enter the forest alone.
Without the large snake, Yu Chujin would definitely starve to death.
Looking at it this way, she seemed to have no ability to survive independently at all and had been relying on the large snake’s feeding to live.
This couldn’t go on. She had to be independent…
Yu Chujin pondered for a moment and said seriously:
“I think, instead of me being independent, you should endure it, resist the animal instinct, and be a chaste snake, rejecting bad temptations.”
“Don’t go out to find a mate in the spring. Don’t leave me alone. You have to be loyal. Don’t be so lecherous. What do you think of my proposal?”
Yu Chujin was very thick-skinned. Not only was she thick-skinned, but she also took advantage of the fact that the large snake couldn’t understand and directly made the decision.
“I’ll take it that you’ve agreed. You can’t abandon me, you know?”
“Hiss hiss.”
Yu Chujin unilaterally settled this matter with it, feeling at ease and without any guilt.
Looking at the field of flowers before her, she was in a good mood. She squatted down and gently touched a flower.
Just then, the large snake slithered away and circled the sea of flowers, picking a flower from time to time.
When the large snake returned, its tail was coiled around a bunch of flowers it had just collected.
The large snake had specially selected them. The flowers it had brought were the most beautiful and largest in this sea of flowers.
It had collected the best flowers and given them to Yu Chujin, looking at her with expectant eyes.
Yu Chujin was already used to its flower-giving behavior. After all, it would bring back a bouquet of flowers every time it went out to hunt. It was no longer a rare thing.
Yu Chujin naturally took the flowers and naturally lowered her head to smell them.
Her mate had accepted its flowers. It shook its head, very happy.
Yu Chujin glanced at the large snake and fell into thought. After a long while, she said:
“You always give me flowers, and I always accept your flowers. In our human social interactions, there’s a saying, ‘It is impolite not to reciprocate.’ Logically, I should also give you a flower in return.”
After saying that, Yu Chujin bent down and casually picked a flower, “For you. It’s my return gift. We are the best of friends, so you can’t leave me, even in the spring.”
She never forgot to PUA the snake.
The large snake’s eyes lit up. It had received a flower from its mate!!
Its tail coiled around the flower Yu Chujin had offered, coiling it carefully, cherishing the flower very much.
Although this flower was just one that Yu Chujin had casually picked, it couldn’t compare to the best and largest flowers that the large snake had picked after circling the flower field.
However, the large snake didn’t seem to mind. As long as she gave it, it liked it.
As the large snake received the flower, its tail quietly coiled around her waist again. The tip of its tail gently patted her, its gaze intimate, and a clingy hiss came from its throat.
Yu Chujin was used to it and was about to hit the snake.
It hurt so much when it coiled around her. Why couldn’t it get rid of this bad habit?
On the way back, the large snake’s tail always protected the flower Yu Chujin had given it, coiled between its tail, never loosening for a moment.
While protecting the flower, it also looked aggrieved, its eyes teary, and it kept scolding, “Bad snake, bad snake, bad snake…”
Yu Chujin: “Who’s the bad snake? I’ve told you many times that it hurts when you coil around my waist, and it hurts even more when you pat me. If you don’t listen, I can only hit you. After I hit you, you cry and call me a bad snake. Are you being reasonable?”
The large snake: “Bad snake!”
Yu Chujin: “…”
After returning to the shelter, the large snake immediately shot up a tree.
At first, Yu Chujin didn’t know what the large snake was going to do. She looked up and found that the large snake had placed the flower she had given it on top of the jacket on the tree.
It was not satisfied with how the flower was placed. One moment, it would place it on top of the jacket, the next, it would press the flower under the jacket.
It was as if this were a huge problem, making it extremely conflicted.
In the end, it simply moved the jacket and the flower to another tree, moving from this tree to that tree.
Yu Chujin sat cross-legged on the sand and watched the large snake with the jacket and the flower, shooting up and down several trees. She felt tired just watching it.
What was this silly snake up to now? So crazy.
“What are you doing? Dragging my jacket, shooting from this tree to that tree, fussing back and forth. Are you bored?”
The large snake was very busy, but at the same time, it didn’t forget to prick up its ears to listen to her. After she finished speaking, it would hiss very seriously.
As if to say, Wait a moment. I’m busy right now. I have important business to attend to.
Yu Chujin was amused.
Finally, the large snake chose a tree that it was satisfied with. It placed the jacket neatly, and then placed the flower Yu Chujin had given it neatly on top of the jacket.
It nudged it with its head, sniffed it, and only then was it satisfied and willing to come down from the tree.
After coming down, it would frequently look up at the tree, with a sense of nervousness as if it were afraid something would happen to the jacket and the flower.
Yu Chujin looked at its reaction and suddenly realized something.
The large snake had hidden the jacket on the tree and placed the flower on top of the jacket, constantly choosing a suitable position. Was it treasuring what it thought was important?
The flower was a gift from Yu Chujin, and the jacket… could it be that the large snake had misunderstood that it was also a gift for it?
It treated these things as gifts from a human and cherished them very much, so it placed the gifts on a tree it thought was safe, checking on them from time to time. When it rained, it would even take them down and use its body to shield them from the rain.
It was only today that Yu Chujin belatedly realized this. Before, when the large snake had treasured the jacket, Yu Chujin had always thought it was just being playful and curious.
So, it wasn’t being playful and curious?
Yu Chujin bit her lip, not knowing what to say for a moment. She turned her head to look at the bouquet of flowers that had been discarded on the side.
Those were the largest and most beautiful flowers that the large snake had picked for her in the sea of flowers.
After receiving the bouquet, Yu Chujin had played with it for a while and then casually tossed it aside.
She looked at the seaside not far away. There were a lot of glass bottles piled up there, a gift that the large snake had spent a whole night finding for her.
But she had only picked a few suitable and useful ones. As for the other glass bottles, she had casually thrown them on the seaside, treating them as garbage.
Yu Chujin treated the gifts from the large snake very casually, so casually that she didn’t care at all.
But the large snake was the complete opposite of her.
The jacket that had been given as a gift due to a misunderstanding, it had hidden on a tree and treasured it. A flower casually picked and given to it, it also treasured on a tree.
Yu Chujin inexplicably felt a little uncomfortable.
A little ashamed. She was not sincere at all, not even a good person. It seemed she didn’t deserve the large snake’s sincerity.
Just now, because she was afraid that the large snake would abandon her, she had even kept brainwashing it not to find a mate, and had even talked nonsense about being chaste…
In comparison, she was too selfish, very cunning, and not frank.
Yu Chujin picked up the flowers that had been thrown aside and looked at them, lost in thought.
She had never been a sincere person. Not only the gifts from the large snake, but also the gifts from others, she would casually accept them, and after accepting them, she would casually throw them in a corner. After a while, she wouldn’t even be able to find the gift.
And the gifts she gave to others, others wouldn’t cherish them much either.
She didn’t cherish the gifts from others, and others didn’t cherish the gifts from her. It had always been like this.
Everyone was just a casual acquaintance. Giving a gift was just a matter of politeness.
Who would be like the large snake, treasuring a gift like a treasure?
What a silly snake.
“Snake,” Yu Chujin called it.
The large snake immediately came over, its sparkling eyes blinking, as if being called by her was something to be so happy about.
Yu Chujin rubbed its large head, “I’m sorry. I don’t think I’ve been very sincere in treating you.”
The large snake was happy because its head was being patted.
“Silly snake.”
Catching the keyword, the large snake grinned, showing its large white teeth, and said happily, “I, silly snake!”
With the words “I, silly snake,” Yu Chujin’s slightly sad emotions were mostly washed away.
“I’ll be honest with you. ‘Silly snake’ is not actually a compliment. It’s not a good word. Humans are very cunning. They will deceive snakes. I’ve already sold you, and you’re still helping me count the money.”
The large snake didn’t understand. The large snake was immersed in being praised, “I, silly snake.”
Yu Chujin rubbed her nose, “Forget it, forget it. Let’s just treat it as a good word.”
The snake is so sweet, while she’s such a scam artist lol
