Chapter 3
Bite a little lighter… there’s a next time?
Perhaps it was her imagination, but Yan Qinghe felt the scent of Calamansi Lime pheromones unconsciously spilling into the air.
It permeated the car cabin.
Yan Qinghe exhaled softly, turned her face away, and looked at the scenery outside the window, pretending not to hear.
“Do you need a suppressant?” Mu Sixue broke the heavy silence.
Yan Qinghe nodded. Wasn’t the Senior Sister a Beta? Why would she always have this on hand?
“Prepared it for a former friend.” Mu Sixue seemed to understand her thoughts and explained lightly. She glanced up at the road sign; they were about to reach the intersection.
Yan Qinghe realized the Senior Sister must be referring to her ex-Omega girlfriend.
That made sense. The Senior Sister was truly thoughtful toward her partners.
Mu Sixue gestured that the item was in the glove compartment. Yan Qinghe took out a tube of R7, gritted her teeth, and injected herself.
The needle went in, but before the medicine could even merge into her bloodstream or she could catch her breath, the next sentence nearly made Yan Qinghe throw the needle out the window.
“Going to my place tonight?” Mu Sixue asked her.
This… this wasn’t quite appropriate, right?
Yan Qinghe wished she could pull her pretty, flushed face out of the sand, but playing ostrich was useless.
“I thought…” Yan Qinghe put the syringe into the disposal bag and licked her dry lips. “Senior Sister was joking with me earlier.”
Just to deal with that kind of situation.
A soft chuckle, like the slender feet of a butterfly landing on a petal, fluttered and flew away.
She heard the pleasant laughter slip from Mu Sixue’s slightly upturned lips into her ears.
It tickled. Yan Qinghe pinched the tip of her burning ear.
“Mn, I’m joking now too.” Mu Sixue glanced at her sideways.
Yan Qinghe: “…”
So, she was joking now as well.
A scallion-white finger tapped the corner of her lips lightly and then dropped. “Was that girl your ex-girlfriend?”
“Named Ji Qianqian?”
The romantic atmosphere dissolved instantly like egg whites.
Mu Sixue noticed Yan Qinghe’s bashfulness vanish like smoke, replaced by a sullen gloom climbing onto her face.
Mn, looks like she was hurt quite badly.
Yan Qinghe gave an almost inaudible hum. The glands at the back of her neck began to burn again. “Senior Sister helped me just in time… I was quite surprised.”
“I guessed you were hoping someone would rescue you.”
Secretly hoping deep down that someone could help you get away from that kind of scene, to escape that awkward predicament.
Hearing this, the embarrassment of being teased faded away.
Yan Qinghe felt as if a gentle spring breeze had brushed through her heart, smoothing and softening it. Over these past few years, Mu Sixue had always been able to provide her with tangible help at the most critical moments.
Whether it was studying for exams, breaking into the UE social circle, or finding a reliable professional manager.
Big things, small things, and many times even hesitant thoughts she hadn’t yet put into action—Mu Sixue seemed to live in her heart, anxious about what she was anxious about, helping with what she needed.
If Mu Sixue hadn’t explicitly stated she had no interest in Alphas, Yan Qinghe would have thought she liked her.
Speaking of which… did she really not like Alphas?
Mu Sixue had never declared it publicly; it was just something Yan Qinghe had accidentally overheard during a conversation with friends.
Perhaps she wasn’t entirely uninterested? And she herself was the exception?
Unfortunately, in this reborn life, she had no intention of falling in love. Love was like arsenic wrapped in honey; it tasted sweet at first, but once swallowed, it could corrode your intestines.
The car gradually arrived downstairs at the Yan residence and stopped at the gate. Yan Qinghe parted her thin lips, thinking of asking tactfully to dispel her doubts.
Her companion’s phone rang at just the right moment.
[Mn, I’m coming back now. Are you staying at my place tonight?]
Mu Sixue’s voice softened by thirty percent, even softer than her usual tone when speaking to Yan Qinghe. Yan Qinghe pursed her lips.
[Okay… then you arrange it.]
Both Yan Qinghe and Mu Sixue were from Country D. Aside from speaking fluent Language A while studying abroad, Mu Sixue usually communicated with her using standard Language D pronunciation.
But this intimate tone carried the soft, murmured dialect of S City, wrapped in sugary stickiness, soft as willow branches.
Yan Qinghe raised an eyebrow, remembering only then that Mu Sixue was from S City, an ordinary small town with mostly commoners, not the aristocrat-crowded H City.
She faintly heard a female voice from the phone saying, [Honey…] and [I’ll wait for you…]
It sounded quite doting.
Rumor had it Mu Sixue had a new Beta girlfriend. It seemed to be true.
Yan Qinghe told herself to relax the tension in her heart. She dismissed the question she had been about to ask. After all, this was someone else’s privacy; it wasn’t her place to interfere too much.
It wasn’t until she returned home that she remembered she had forgotten the main business of going to the DK Bar today: inviting Mu Sixue to jump ship to the Yan Group.

Walking through the garden into the empty Yan residence, the butler was waiting at the door. Sister Zhou asked if she wanted a late-night snack.
Yan Qinghe shook her head. Her stomach felt empty, but she had no appetite. The bad mood from seeing Ji Qianqian still lingered in her mind, leaving her feeling unsettled.
On the display shelf in her room, the handmade doll Ji Qianqian had given her was glaringly ironic.
This was given by Ji Qianqian to Yan Qing. At that time, Yan Qing, who was possessing her body, didn’t want to accept it. But for her sake, Yan Qing had taken it back and displayed it for her.
She glanced at it. The doll wore Yan Qing’s habitual outfit but bore her face.
Truly like a joke.
Yan Qinghe threw the doll into the trash can. After showering, she buried her head under the quilt.
In her dreams, she vaguely returned to her childhood.
The Yan and Ji families had been friends since their grandfathers’ generation. By their generation, to maintain the family bond, the adults arranged for the children to meet when she was in elementary school.
Ji Qianqian was very quiet as a child, standing alone in a corner. Even though she was the eldest daughter of the Ji family, no servants or butlers attended to her, and her clothes were very ordinary.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say she looked like a maid serving an aristocratic young lady.
No one paid her any attention. Amidst a group of brightly dressed aristocratic children, she was like a dim, plain white daisy.
One gust of wind would break her; one touch of frost would make her wilt.
Just like her name, she wore a shallow (qianqian) smile, politely waving hello to anyone she saw.
At such a young age, when she smiled, pear-like dimples would appear, looking cute and lovely.
No one taught her to do this, and she had no friends. Her awkward status failed to earn the recognition of her peers.
Yan Qinghe later learned that Qianqian was not a legitimate daughter of the Ji family but an illegitimate daughter of Ji Yang born out of wedlock. She was brought home from the countryside at the age of six and was very much disliked by her stepmother, Shen Manting.
Shen Manting and Ji Yang had tried their hardest but couldn’t produce a child. Only then did Ji Yang remember he had an Omega daughter tucked away in some corner.
It seemed to be the result of a night of romantic indulgence with an ordinary Omega singer at a nightclub.
Who would have thought a pearl would form in secret? He hastily gave a settlement fee and never bothered again.
At first, he didn’t dare tell Shen Manting, but the issue of an heir became a worry, so Shen Manting had to agree.
They retrieved the cheap daughter from Ji Qianqian’s birth mother, Pei Huan, like picking up a toy. Because he was busy with affairs, he indifferently tossed her to Shen Manting to raise.
Ji Qianqian was a year older than Yan Qinghe. She was an unfamiliar face Yan Qinghe had never seen before, and she looked easy to bully.
Yan Qinghe opened her mouth and called her “Little Black Ghost.”
Ji Qianqian timidly lowered her head and didn’t fight back, which Yan Qinghe found terribly boring. Only when she grew older did she understand her rudeness back then.
After hearing about Ji Qianqian’s background from Aunt Wan, she felt an inexplicable sense of guilt.
This guilt transformed into unconscious inquiries and attention toward Ji Qianqian.
She heard that when Ji Qianqian was fourteen, Ji’s father and mother were delighted to finally have a son. In such an environment, even a bright pearl would gather dust.
Is Qianqian doing okay now? Yan Qinghe would wonder when she had free time.
At the second gathering of the aristocratic families, amidst the crowded banquet, her eyes were immediately drawn to a figure beautiful as a white rose.
Graceful posture, like a lotus rising from the water, with wavy chestnut-brown curly hair, bright almond eyes shimmering with light, and fair skin that could be broken by a breeze.
“Who is that?” Yan Qinghe clutched her heart, which was beating fast enough to burst through her chest, and asked her companion.
“That’s the eldest daughter of the Ji family—Ji Qianqian!”
“Long time no see, Qinghe~” Ji Qianqian extended her hand without any grudge. Dressed in a bohemian lake-blue long dress, she looked pink, tender, and pretty. Compared to the average aristocratic young lady, she was more confident and unrestrained, like a princess.
A girl changes eighteen times as she grows. The thirteen-year-old Yan Qinghe, fueled by childhood guilt and heartache from hearing her story, fell in love at first sight with surging momentum.
Ji Qianqian seemed to be living quite well.
Later, she learned that Ji Qianqian’s younger brother, Ji Tianbao, was a Beta with some congenital disabilities. The elders of the Ji clan were disappointed with Shen Manting’s belly and hinted that Ji Yang could cultivate his Omega daughter more.
If Ji Tianbao truly couldn’t be propped up, at least there was Ji Qianqian. Even as a spare tire, she was still a way out.
After Yan Qinghe was reborn, she occasionally reviewed her past life. If she hadn’t later differentiated into an Alpha, she and Ji Qianqian probably would have become very good friends.
In their youth, they were at the same school. Amidst the intimate whispers of girlish secrets, Ji Qianqian revealed that she hated Alphas.
Her biological father, Ji Yang, had forcibly marked her birth mother, who had no status or background, resulting in her birth.
Her mother’s tears dripped into her heart. The admonition to stay away from Alphas was firmly remembered and constantly lingered in her ears.
Yan Qinghe was suddenly startled. What if I differentiate into an Alpha?
“Then I won’t play with you anymore~” Ji Qianqian said seriously.
Yan Qinghe was terrified, afraid… The more she feared, the more the terrible result approached. It was like walking on a small bridge about to collapse, trembling all the way.
Until she reached the center of the bridge and fell into the abyss!
On the day she differentiated into an Alpha, she completely marked Ji Qianqian.
Faced with chaotic consciousness and uncontrollable pheromones, she lost herself.
When it was over, she knelt before Ji Qianqian, weeping.
Ji Qianqian didn’t call the Enforcement Team. Her pupils were deep and dark; even a cold glance at her was an act of charity.
From then on, she never treated her as a younger sister again.
No matter how Yan Qinghe begged or apologized, Ji Qianqian only wore a red-lipped smile, her mocking words like tempered ice:
“Yan Qinghe, you really take yourself too seriously.” Ji Qianqian picked at her manicure, surrounded by a group of spare tires who were practically bowing and scraping.
“You aren’t even as good as them. They can at least get close to me.”
“But you? You don’t even have the qualification to speak to me.”
She exhaled an orchid-like breath, blowing against her ear, laughing softly: “Everyone says they are my bootlickers, but you? You’re not even up to that standard.”
“Or do you want to start being my bootlicker from today on?”
…
Yan Qinghe covered her forehead. Since her rebirth, her sleep quality had been poor. The memory of that first complete marking was engraved in her limbs and bones. Having just sensed Ji Qianqian’s White Rose pheromones tonight, every pore on her body screamed with longing.
In her past life, many things happened between them afterward. Besides that terrible first complete marking, they also had a clumsy second time, a true act of lovemaking… and after breaking up and getting back together… a third time that made one blush and heart race.
In this life, the story was still paused after the first complete marking of Ji Qianqian.
As soon as Ji Qianqian got close, her body’s memory opened like Pandora’s box, shamefully wanting to embrace her Omega.
She had fled from Ji Qianqian for four years, giving her four years—enough time to wash away the mark.
Judging from her restlessness tonight, it was obvious Ji Qianqian hadn’t removed it.
She even schemingly released her pheromone scent in the bar, purposefully igniting Yan Qinghe’s glands, completely disregarding the danger that Yan Qinghe might fall into a rut at any moment.
She wouldn’t be delusional enough to think Ji Qianqian was declaring sovereignty over her because she saw Mu Sixue.
It was so hard. A rut could only be spent with the completely marked Omega. In her last life, she had gouged out her own glands.
In this life, God knows how she would survive it. Truly, she reaped what she sowed.
Over the past four years, her body had already developed resistance to ordinary suppressants. After encountering Ji Qianqian, she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
Yan Qinghe felt like a fish on a chopping board, her whole body frighteningly hot. She even suspected her glands were like lit firecrackers about to explode at the back of her neck.
In her daze, she felt a pair of smooth, cool hands wrap around her waist, and a cheek carefully lean against her chest.
“Qinghe…”
A voice full of infinite attachment, sobbing with a bit of grievance.
“Qinghe~~”
The familiar scent of pheromones… Yan Qinghe seemed to return to the morning after their third time making love.
That person had called her just as tenderly as water.
“Mn~” That day, she had replied like that, stroking the head in front of her and scraping the perky nose tip.
The other person arched forward like a kitten, kissed her chin, and looked at her with bright amber eyes.
They had been too exhausted that time. Before Yan Qinghe fully woke up, she felt a crimson cheek and a forehead hot as sunset pressing against her face.
Nose tip against nose tip, that person seemed to be making a serious vow, determined to dispel the shadow of their first time.
“Qinghe~ I like…” A shy, elongated ending note.
Before the sentence was finished, it went round and round. Yan Qinghe couldn’t hear the end clearly. Tickled by the falling black hair, she squinted and mumbled in agreement, “I like you too, Wifey~”
“Mn~ No~” The other person continued her unfinished sentence, “Qinghe… I really like how you…”
Shy words, soft and sticky lips, a flush rising on her cheeks.
“Let’s do it again~”
