Thus, Tsukiyomi Ruri continued expressionlessly, “Ghost beneath the fountain pool, if you don’t come out, I will attack you.”
This time, the Ghost Girl heard clearly and snapped her eyes open to look at Tsukiyomi Ruri. Panic filled her face as she rushed out of the fountain pool.
But just as she burst out and was struck by sunlight, the Ghost Girl let out a scream and plummeted straight down, sinking back into the fountain pool.
“…Sorry, I forgot ghosts fear sunlight. Don’t come out then, just communicate like this.” Tsukiyomi Ruri said, sitting down beside the fountain pool.
The listless Ghost Girl heard Tsukiyomi Ruri’s words; the panic on her face diminished somewhat, and she asked nervously, “You’re not here to capture me?”
Tsukiyomi Ruri shook her head and said, “I won’t capture you. I just want to ask you some things.”
Upon hearing this, the Ghost Girl immediately let out a sigh of relief.
Seeing this, Tsukiyomi Ruri grew thoughtful. It seemed this Ghost Girl was being pursued by someone?
The Ghost Girl stood up in the pool and looked at Tsukiyomi Ruri. She took the edges of her skirt in both hands, lifting it slightly and pausing briefly in a refined curtsy. “Good morning. May I ask what business you have with me?”
Tsukiyomi Ruri observed her every gesture, feeling a sense of oddness. She’s just a ghost, so why does she carry an air brimming with refinement?
Putting the question aside for the moment, Tsukiyomi Ruri asked, “I want to know why you’re at this school, and where you come from.”
Hearing this, a look of hesitation appeared on the Ghost Girl’s face, showing her difficulty.
“Is it inconvenient to say? Unfortunately, this question must be answered.” Tsukiyomi Ruri stated firmly.
Seemingly recognizing Tsukiyomi Ruri’s resolve, the Ghost Girl, to avoid trouble, had no choice but to say, “I was being hunted, so I had no choice but to hide everywhere. Choosing this school was just a coincidence.”
Hunting a ghost?
Tsukiyomi Ruri asked again, “You still haven’t mentioned your origin.”
Normally, ghosts cannot exist in the Real World. Any ghost present is almost certainly brought from a Reincarnation World by a Reincarnator. So which Reincarnator brought this ghost here?
“Why must you ask so many questions?” The Ghost Girl didn’t answer further but looked at Tsukiyomi Ruri with some suspicion.
“I’m clearly the one asking you questions. How did it become you asking me?” Tsukiyomi Ruri tilted her head. “If you don’t speak properly, I’m not sure what I might do.”
Saying this, Tsukiyomi Ruri took off her shoes and brought out the [Updraft] card. She had no choice; her uniform didn’t even have pockets, so she had to store the card there.
The Ghost Girl glanced at it and couldn’t help but laugh. “Are you threatening me? But even though I’m not a Reincarnator like you, I still know that among Reincarnators, a white card like this is the lowest rank. What can you possibly do to me with it?”
Tsukiyomi Ruri looked at the Ghost Girl.
Normally, creatures of the Reincarnation World wouldn’t know about Reincarnators. Yet this Ghost Girl knew, indicating she had considerable contact with them previously.
Without wasting more words, Tsukiyomi Ruri slightly activated the card’s power in her hand.
Immediately, the water inside the entire fountain pool began to boil. A massive amount of water was then flipped upwards, sent flying three meters high, leaving the inside of the fountain pool completely empty.
Seeing this, the Ghost Girl’s eyes widened involuntarily. She had never heard that a white-ranked card could exhibit such power.
If this little girl blew all the water away, the fountain pool would be exposed directly to the sunlight. Even more so, she could attack her directly.
“Wait, don’t attack yet. Didn’t you want to know about me? I can tell you.” The Ghost Girl huddled at the bottom of the fountain pool, her expression helpless.
Tsukiyomi Ruri let the water fall back into the fountain pool and asked calmly, “Speak.”
The Ghost Girl sighed and said, “Have you heard of the Demon Spirit Group?”
“No,” Tsukiyomi Ruri answered.
“…Alright, it’s a Reincarnator team.” The Ghost Girl paused before continuing.
A so-called Reincarnator team is naturally a team formed by Reincarnators, recognized by the Reincarnation Space. When completing Reincarnation World tasks, they can team up together, thereby increasing mission success rates and earning more Reincarnation Points.
The Demon Spirit Group was such a Reincarnator team.
The Ghost Girl explained that several ghosts, including herself, were captured and brought to the Real World by Reincarnators from the Demon Spirit Group.
“Brought from a Reincarnation World to the Real World? The Demon Spirit Group has such an ability?” Tsukiyomi Ruri was somewhat surprised.
Generally, for Reincarnators to bring creatures from a Reincarnation World into the Real World, they must sign a Contract with those creatures. The number of targets a Reincarnator can contract differs based on their strength. But signing a Contract is a mutual matter; if one side doesn’t agree, the Contract cannot be established. Since the Demon Spirit Group forcibly brought ghosts out of the Reincarnation World, it certainly didn’t look like a Contract had been signed.
The Ghost Girl said helplessly, “I don’t know what went wrong either. A passageway mysteriously appeared between our world and the Real World. The people of the Demon Spirit Group discovered this passage and can freely travel between the two worlds…”
Tsukiyomi Ruri’s eyes narrowed.
A passageway connecting the Real World and a Reincarnation World?
‘Has something indeed gone wrong with the Reincarnation Space in recent years? This situation seems like a bug has appeared. Normally, the Reincarnation Space shouldn’t have this kind of problem.’
Tsukiyomi Ruri thought to herself.
The Ghost Girl then described the pitiful process of her capture, a look of fear surfacing on her face. “I saw other captured ghosts taken away by the Demon Spirit Group, and they never came back. I don’t know what happened to them. Those people from the Demon Spirit Group are not good people.”
“How did you escape then?” Tsukiyomi Ruri asked curiously.
“I ran through the walls,” the Ghost Girl said, then continued under Tsukiyomi Ruri’s disbelieving gaze. “Don’t look at me like that. I’m different from other ghosts. I possess a stronger wall-phasing ability, so even though the Demon Spirit Group locked us in a special room, I could still phase through the walls and escape.”
“What’s special about you?” Tsukiyomi Ruri looked the Ghost Girl up and down.
“I’m a rare special ghost among my kind, uniquely possessing a stronger wall-phasing ability. That’s it.” The Ghost Girl said vaguely.
Ruri’s intuition told her there was a story here.
