Chapter 42: Don’t Get Hands-On

Hino Kaoru’s appearance was also quite outstanding. Her face was smooth and fair, and she wore a goose-yellow yukata with a cherry pattern, looking very lively. Her pale yellow hair cascaded down naturally.

“Where’s your room? Let’s go to your room,” Hino Kaoru said leisurely.

Her curiosity already piqued, Izumi Shirayuki had no objections and directly led Hino Kaoru to her room.

Watching the two leave, Tsukiyomi Ruri said to Fujiwara Misa, “Believe me, the haunting incident will be resolved soon. You’ll have plenty of guests again, and you won’t need to compromise yourself for anyone.”

Fujiwara Misa was stunned.

Did even an elementary schooler see through her predicament?

Fujiwara Misa bit her lower lip and thanked her, “Thank you for your comfort. Also, Hino-san is a bit of a strange person. She’s gone off with Izumi-san, and strange things might happen there too. You should warn Izumi-san.”

“What kind of strange things do you mean?” Tsukiyomi Ruri tilted her head and asked.

“That is…” Fujiwara Misa didn’t quite know how to put it. After thinking for a moment, she said, “Just pass my words on to Izumi-san. She should be able to understand.”

“Alright,” Tsukiyomi Ruri didn’t press further.

In truth, she could probably guess what these so-called strange things were. She just wanted to understand the extent of it. But since Fujiwara Misa was too embarrassed to say it, she didn’t push the matter.

Turning around, Tsukiyomi Ruri quickly returned to the guest room.

Izumi Shirayuki was already continuing to eat her half-finished bento, while Hino Kaoru sat beside her, chatting leisurely.

When Tsukiyomi Ruri returned, Hino Kaoru looked at her with an unreadable gaze and then said, “Little girl, how about I feed you your meal?”

“No.” Tsukiyomi Ruri refused flatly.

Judging by the situation with Fujiwara Misa, she could tell that Hino Kaoru was not a reliable person.

Returning to her seat, Tsukiyomi Ruri looked at her own food and asked Izumi Shirayuki, “Senpai, no one touched my bento, right?”

“No,” Izumi Shirayuki replied.

Only then did Tsukiyomi Ruri pick it up and eat with peace of mind.

Hino Kaoru, however, was displeased. “Are you doubting my character? You actually think I would touch your bento? Why would I touch your bento?”

Tsukiyomi Ruri said nothing, her mouth stuffed full.

Izumi Shirayuki promptly changed the subject. “Hino-san, why did that cup in the room earlier break?”

“Because Miss Fujiwara and I were fooling around and I accidentally bumped into the table, knocking the cup off. It’s really not something worth paying attention to,” Hino Kaoru said dismissively.

“And why were you two fooling around?” Izumi Shirayuki fully displayed her curiosity.

“Isn’t it normal for women to fool around with each other? There was no particular reason for it,” Hino Kaoru said.

“Was there really no special reason?” Izumi Shirayuki asked.

“No.” Hino Kaoru shook her head.

Despite the answer, Izumi Shirayuki still intended to probe further. As the president of the Urban Legend Club, she had keen powers of observation and had noticed earlier that Fujiwara Misa’s state was off. This had to be related to Hino Kaoru.

In other words, the incident between Hino Kaoru and Fujiwara Misa was definitely not just simple fooling around.

But just then, Izumi Shirayuki noticed her smartphone had buzzed. She opened it and found a message from, unexpectedly, Tsukiyomi Ruri.

“Fujiwara-san said Hino-san did strange things to her. She didn’t specify what, just told me to tell you that you should understand.”

Seeing this message, Izumi Shirayuki became thoughtful. When Hino Kaoru leaned over to look, she quickly closed the message, preventing Hino Kaoru from seeing it.

Having seen nothing, Hino Kaoru chatted casually, “You two seemed to be sleeping all afternoon and only got up in the evening. Why is that?”

Izumi Shirayuki didn’t hide it. “We want to investigate some things about the haunting here.”

Hino Kaoru was surprised. “You came specifically to investigate that?”

“Not exactly. We only learned about the haunting rumors after arriving and wanted to find out more out of curiosity,” Izumi Shirayuki shook her head and replied.

“I see.” Hino Kaoru laughed. “You girls don’t need to worry about any so-called ghost. After all, you’re all cute girls. I imagine even if a ghost existed, it wouldn’t come to scare you.”

It seemed like just a simple, comforting statement.

Tsukiyomi Ruri then asked, “Hino-san, what’s your opinion on the haunting incident?”

Hino Kaoru sprawled lazily to one side. “I don’t have any particular opinion. How could real ghosts possibly exist in this world? So I still come here when I want to.”

At this point, Izumi Shirayuki finished her bento and took out a pen and paper, saying to Hino Kaoru, “I still have some questions about the haunting. If it’s convenient, Hino-san, could you answer a few?”

“Sure,” Hino Kaoru didn’t seem to want to refuse.

Of course, her lack of refusal was also because the other party was a cute girl.

Not long after, Tsukiyomi Ruri also finished her bento. She took her own and Izumi Shirayuki’s bento boxes outside and threw them in the trash.

When she returned, Izumi Shirayuki and Hino Kaoru were still talking. Hino Kaoru was speaking while leaning closer and closer to Izumi Shirayuki, nearly about to press herself against her.

“It’s getting late, Hino-san. You should go to sleep,” Tsukiyomi Ruri said as she walked over.

“Today, I’ll just sleep here with you all,” Hino Kaoru said with a smile.

“You want to stay here?” Izumi Shirayuki was somewhat surprised.

“I was originally going to sleep with Miss Fujiwara, but she seems to want to sleep alone. So, I’ll sleep with you two, then? You don’t have any objections, right?” Hino Kaoru smiled.

“We’re not going to sleep again tonight. Even if you stay, you’ll be sleeping alone,” Tsukiyomi Ruri stated.

“That’s fine, I don’t mind,” Hino Kaoru said, thinking of her own little schemes.

“I mind,” Tsukiyomi Ruri refused without any mercy.

“I mind as well,” Izumi Shirayuki said. “Hino Kaoru-san, we are not familiar enough to share a room at night, so please go and request another guest room.”

Being so bluntly rejected by the two of them, Hino Kaoru became unhappy. “Why won’t you agree to such a small, reasonable request? We’re all women here, you won’t lose out on anything.”

No matter what Hino Kaoru said, Tsukiyomi Ruri and Izumi Shirayuki were not going to agree.
