How to play top lane?
First, define your role. Top laners are divided into carry types and utility types.
Carry types mainly consist of the Top Lane Four Sisters, with higher mechanical difficulty, but they can often play a decisive role in a match.
Utility types are represented by champions like Malphite, Maokai, Nasus the Curator of the Sands, and so on. In teamfights they’re disruptors. They don’t require much micro and are classic “top laners begging for the jungler’s help.”
Yu Qingxue let out a soft sigh.
Recently, while playing games, she had gradually grown fond of champions that excel under pressure.
Because in reality, Yu Qingxue was always enduring pressure.
She must not be reckless; even if the opponent pushes their luck and provokes her, she must endure. Even if they dance under her tower while munching on turret plates, she must show not a hint of dissatisfaction.
Before she can fully rise up, the only thing she can do is endure in silence.
After basing, she’d grab Father’s Vest, Mother’s Cloak, Grandpa’s Thornmail, and Grandma’s Warmog’s.
Teleport and last-hitting under tower are essential skills for every seasoned utility player.
All the true essence of top lane laning is buried in two words: “Dad, come!”
In the evening, Morgana approached Yu Qingxue and kindly asked, “Come on, Qingxue, how about we go for a walk outside?”
“I’m not a lesbian, why would I take a walk with you?”
“I’m concerned about you. Speaking of which, are you confident about the upcoming assassination mission?”
“Not yet.” Yu Qingxue strolled while fiddling with her phone.
“You aren’t googling ‘How exactly to assassinate a plutocrat,’ are you?”
“I don’t usually use Google,” Yu Qingxue shrugged, smiling helplessly yet sheepishly. “Normally, I use Baidu Zhidao, Tieba, Weibo, and Zhihu. If I succeed in the assassination, I’ll upload the video to Bilibili—that should gain me quite a few followers.”
“If you fail, you’ll die, you know.”
Morgana frowned, irritated by Yu Qingxue’s indifferent attitude, but she didn’t know how to help her.
They faced each other speechless, only silence remained.
The light in the second-floor room went out. Tsukiyuki Rio was living an immensely contented life, while Yu Qingxue’s state of mind was the complete opposite.
Then, how could she free Gao Sijin from Tsukiyuki Rio’s chains?
And how could she remove the GPS tracking system implanted inside Gao Sijin’s body?
How could she complete the assassination or backstabbing mission within a month?
And what role would the Gu Family, represented by Qu Xiqian, play in this incident?
Countless questions weighed heavily on Yu Qingxue’s heart.
“Forget it, I’m going back to my room to play games. You should rest early too.”
Just how could she create a chance to be alone with Gao Sijin and abduct him to an unknown, untraceable place?
Yu Qingxue had purchased a deserted island near St. Helena Island, and via remote equipment, she had started renovating the lighthouse’s interior. Naturally, she wanted the best furniture, and she added various small items to improve the living atmosphere to her shopping cart, one by one.
Over the years, her salary as Head Maid of Tsukiyuki Rio allowed her to buy things without looking at the price.
But would she really get to use so many things in the end?
Yu Qingxue propped her chin on her hand, idly swiping through her phone screen with her finger.
“Oh, I remember.”
Qu Xiqian had sent Yu Qingxue a message before: when she resolved to betray Tsukiyuki Rio, stand in front of a mirror exactly at 2 a.m.
There was a similar paranormal game in China—Bloody Mary.
At midnight, enter the bathroom alone, lock the door, turn off the lights, light a candle facing the mirror, and silently chant “I believe in Bloody Mary” three times to successfully summon her.
In the past, Yu Qingxue would have scoffed at such a paranormal game, but after her adventure in the Old School Building, she was no longer an atheist.
“No helping it. At this point, I can only call in the big daddy to deal with Lady Rio.”
It wasn’t really betrayal; she didn’t want to kill Tsukiyuki Rio. After all, Rio had shown her appreciation and favor in the past. All Yu Qingxue wanted was to reclaim her own love, confine Gao Sijin to a place no one else knew, and live out the rest of her days.
Miss Gu Xiarui would surely have a way.
With the rumored Gu Family playing along, even if Lady Rio were at full build, she wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
1:50 a.m.
The phone alarm rang on time.
Yu Qingxue rubbed her bleary eyes, stretched lazily and charmingly, took off her nightgown, and changed into her maid uniform.
“Lady Gu, here I come~”
Choosing love meant letting go of her hatred toward the Yu Family.
But oh well; even if she didn’t seek revenge, heaven would naturally take care of the Yu Family.
Love came first.
Heaven’s gift, if not taken, brings blame; the opportune moment, if not seized, brings calamity.
Yu Qingxue turned off the light, walked into the bathroom, and stared fixedly at the mirror above the sink.
In just a few minutes, Gu Xiarui would surely appear there.
Waiting…
Yu Qingxue’s heartbeat couldn’t help but quicken. There was a time when she had always regarded Tsukiyuki Rio as an invincible existence, someone she could never contend with under any circumstances.
Now, she had to make a choice, and her choice was to never continue living in compromise.
All for love.
2:00 a.m.
Suddenly, the ordinary bathroom became strange. The walls oozed bright red, viscous liquid, and the strong smell of rust was somewhat choking.
In silence, the surroundings were filled with a sea of red.
“Haha, hahaha…”
Yu Qingxue suddenly couldn’t help but laugh.
Scenes of the past flashed before her eyes like a revolving lantern. One after another, faces filled with desire reappeared: her father roaring with violent fury, a girl crying.
Screams, wails, pleas, and despair.
These cries filled Yu Qingxue’s ears.
The truth was, water was what Yu Qingxue had once feared most; as a child, her father had nearly drowned her to death.
“Lady Gu, if this is a trial, it’s quite unnecessary.” Yu Qingxue crossed her fair arms over her chest, her expression completely fearless. “I have long crushed every fear in my heart; I have no weakness. Trying to control me with terror and trembling is nothing but a fool’s dream.”
Yu Qingxue walked gracefully up to her “biological father” and landed a kick right in his face. Immediately, she heard the sound of a mirror shattering.
The blood-red memories vanished.
When she came to her senses, Yu Qingxue found herself standing in a middle school classroom.
Chuncheng Provincial Experimental Middle School.
This was where Gao Sijin had once studied. Outside, it was no longer the wee hours but a bright, sunny noon.
A girl with beautiful silver hair and red eyes stood there. Her black dress covered in lace gave off an ethereal, dreamlike feel. With a slender silhouette and youthful features, she looked no older than sixteen, yet her calm, indifferent gaze exuded an imposing air without anger.
“Xue has drifted half a lifetime, only regretting not meeting a wise master. If you do not shun me, Xue is willing to bow to you as her adoptive mother…”
