From the moment they entered, the formation began to shift. The ghost corpses nurtured in the coffins awoke one by one; lids flipped open as Corpse Ghosts leaped out. Nails scratched coffin boards under Wang Ya’s feet and around her; shrouded in thick Evil Qi, the coffins trembled with Corpse Ghosts poised to burst forth. Wang Ya’s gaze swept over the quivering lids nearby, then settled on the Ink Jade Coffin suspended on a high platform at the array’s center.
Wang Ya stared at the Ink Jade Coffin and said without turning her head, “Once Zhang Qingshui breaks the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Array, head for the exit.”
Huang Qi asked, “Wang Ya, what about you?”
Wang Ya turned back, pointed at the Evil Qi-wreathed Ink Jade Coffin in the center.
The surroundings were pitch black; Old Tang saw nothing and asked Huang Qi, “What did Wang Ya point at?”
Huang Qi said, “An Ink Jade Coffin heavy with Evil Qi, placed at the Array Eye in the center. To break the Myriad Coffins Array, that Ink Jade Coffin must be destroyed. All the Yin Qi in this Myriad Coffins Array is surging toward it.” She clutched the ancient bronze coin, looking up quietly at Wang Ya’s faintly glowing red silhouette from behind. She hadn’t known Wang Ya long, but understood her somewhat. At first, she found Wang Ya brash and petty, but over time saw her tough exterior hid a soft heart considerate of others. Huang Qi wanted to befriend Wang Ya, yet wondered if the Wang Ya she knew would remain. The Demonic Power in Wang Ya granted immense strength, but Huang Qi clearly saw her being influenced and changed by the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon. If not for their attempt to seize Ghost Granny’s Ghost Demon Inner Core and Ebony Staff, letting Ghost Granny escape and exposing Wang Ya’s origins, things wouldn’t have come to this.
Suddenly, an intensely powerful burst of Evil Qi erupted from the central Ink Jade Coffin! With its spread, the nearly thousand replica coffins around it all burst their lids open—even the one under Wang Ya’s feet shook violently, flinging her airborne.
Thousands of Corpse Ghosts surged from the coffins, pouncing from all directions toward the four.
Huang Qi felt the ground and air filled with Corpse Ghosts; terrified, she screamed, “They’re all coming!” She swung the Ghost Collecting Bell at a Corpse Ghost bursting from a coffin before her.
Old Tang swung his Tang Dao, cleaving the heads of several near ones!
Wang Cheng’an yelled, “Whoa, so many ghosts!” He reached out, grabbed the arms of a Corpse Ghost lunging at him, and tore off its left arm with a yank. The Corpse Ghost gaped to bite him; Wang Cheng’an stuffed the severed arm into its mouth, twisted its neck, snapping the cervical vertebrae, then swung the Corpse Ghost’s leg at the surrounding ones, shouting nonstop, “Yaya, I hate fighting ghosts the most—come quick!”
Wang Ya, flung by the coffin lid, landed steadily on the side of a coffin two meters away. She palmed the head of a Corpse Ghost that had just leaped out beside her. Red light flickered in her palm; when she released, the Corpse Ghost stiffened and collapsed, motionless. She glided across coffins like a specter, felling a Corpse Ghost with every palm strike.
Yet the Corpse Ghosts numbered too many, swarming densely and trapping Wang Cheng’an and the others. Masses tore at the Azure Vines encircling Old Tang, Huang Qi, and Wang Cheng’an; the vines flared blinding green light several times, only to be suppressed again.
Wang Cheng’an wailed, “Yaya, save me!”
Wang Ya rushed to Wang Cheng’an, aiding him, Old Tang, and Huang Qi against the besieging Corpse Ghosts. The ground ones were manageable with three of them, but the aerial pounces from all angles were endless and impenetrable. Wang Ya asked, “Zhang Qingshui, are you done yet?” Her strikes were lightning-fast as she circled the Azure Vines, palming incoming Corpse Ghosts.
The central Ink Jade Coffin trembled with resounding vibrations; the surrounding Yin Qi drained away!
Wang Ya said gravely, “I’ll open the Yellow Springs—you enter to take shelter!”
Zhang Qingshui shouted, “Go! Clear the path!” She raised her hand, gathering the arrayed Azure Vines into her grasp, then whipped them out as a dozens-of-meters-long vine lash sweeping the air with a “whoosh,” tracing a cyan dragon shadow. Any airborne Corpse Ghost touching the green shadow fell like electrocuted, though they soon crawled up to charge again.
Zhang Qingshui whipped the Azure Vines as she dashed forward, calling out directions, leading Old Tang, Wang Cheng’an, and Huang Qi outward.
Soon, they reached the Myriad Coffins Array’s center, facing the over-two-meters-long Ink Jade Coffin on the high platform.
Old Tang yelled, “How’d we end up at the Array Eye? Little Zhang, didn’t you miscalculate?”
The Ink Jade Coffin’s lid suddenly shuddered violently, lifting at least half a foot as thick Yin Fiend Aura spilled out.
Zhang Qingshui shouted, “Go! Old Tang, smash the coffin to your left front!” She ran a few steps and yelled, “Smash the one on the right!”
Wang Cheng’an stood right there and kicked that coffin flying.
Old Tang urgently called, “At a time like this, still worrying about that!”
Huang Qi said, “Qing Jie is leaving a path out for Wang Ya in case the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Array traps her. Even possessed by the Flower Demon, Wang Ya doesn’t understand arrays.”
Wang Ya, standing before the Ink Jade Coffin, turned her head upon hearing this, glancing at the three who had dashed twenty or thirty meters away, her brows furrowing slightly before her gaze returned to the Ink Jade Coffin.
A tremendous power suddenly erupted from the Ink Jade Coffin, propelling its lid skyward as a pitch-black figure leaped out. Wang Ya toed the ground, soared into the air, and palmed toward the black shadow emerging from the Ink Jade Coffin.
