Chapter 50: Flower on the Forehead Part 1

Wang Ya channeled the Demonic Power of the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon within her body into her palm, shattering the Yin Fiend Aura enveloping that black shadow. She slapped it squarely on the chest with a resounding “bang,” sending the shadow flying backward to crash heavily into the coffin array nearby, pulverizing a half-rotted wooden coffin!

Wang Ya’s palm strike felt like it had hit a slab of thick, refined steel, numbing her hand and wrist from the shock.

The black shadow let out a howl and stiffly stood up, throwing its head back in a long wail that unleashed a torrent of Evil Qi!

Old Tang, not far away, heard the howl and cried out, “Oh my god!” He urgently shouted, “Run!” Gripping his Tang Dao tightly, he slashed at the Corpse Ghosts charging from the front, his steps quickening as he fled for his life.

Wang Cheng’an froze at the roar, calling “Yaya!” as he tried to rush back, but Huang Qi yanked him to a stop. She yelled, “Hurry and go! She can handle it!” Dragging Wang Cheng’an, she followed close behind Old Tang, running at the fastest speed of her life.

Wang Ya landed on the Ink Jade Coffin and gazed at the black shadow standing amid the shattered coffin, howling with its head thrown back. She realized it was a Burly Male Corpse covered in ancient armor, with a ferocious face and tiger-like fangs. It brimmed with surging Evil Qi and an extremely vicious aura, vastly different from a ghost—more akin to the Zombie of legend.

In normal times, Wang Ya would have fled like Old Tang and the others, but now, infused with the Demonic Power of the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon, her body brimmed with immense power. Even facing such a formidable ferocious creature, she felt no fear. Instead, her mind was serene, empty, tranquil, devoid of sorrow or joy.

Surrounded by a faint demonic red glow, Wang Ya remained unflustered as the ferocious creature howled and leaped through the air toward her. Calm and composed, she formed the Buddhist Great Lion Seal with her hands and struck at the oncoming beast. Her toes pushed off the ground, propelling her into the air to launch an assault on it.

The creature possessed tremendous strength; every move carried the power to split mountains and shatter monuments. Its body was like copper skin and iron bones! Wang Ya’s several palm strikes shattered its finely crafted armor, but they only forced it back a few steps before it countered with even fiercer attacks, compelling her to defend and retreat repeatedly. The creature was tough-skinned, resilient, and immensely strong—not to mention that as the battle dragged on, its movements grew increasingly agile, its speed faster, its momentum fiercer, each strike as heavy as a mountain.

Relying on her Demonic Power to clash head-on with it, Wang Ya gained no advantage and was even smashed flying several times. Without the Demonic Power protecting her body and her agile footwork to mitigate the impact upon landing, she would have been reduced to mincemeat the first time she was flung away.

Wang Ya was slapped flying once more. Gritting her teeth, she circulated her Demonic Power and soared into the air, pinching a flower shape with her fingers. A blooming Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower materialized in her palm, slashing straight toward the creature’s forehead. Her speed reached its peak, transforming into a streak of red light that closed the over ten-meter distance in an instant. Yet just as her hand reached the creature’s face, its grip clamped onto her shoulder, its sharp nails digging deep into her flesh, locking her in place. Her arm was shorter than its, and the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower at her fingertips halted two fists’ distance from it. Wang Ya flicked her finger to drive the flower’s power into its forehead, but the creature unleashed a long howl, spewing thick ink-black flames from its mouth. With a vigorous shake, it hurled her heavily away. The choking black qi it exhaled blackened Wang Ya’s vision, followed by a sensation of weightlessness, and then a heavy crash to the ground that shook her into spitting out a mouthful of blood. She felt the spot where she landed had been smashed into a pit.

In the next instant, she sensed the creature pouncing right in front of her. Wang Ya formed hand seals with both hands, urging her body’s energy to its limit, and blasted a blooming Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower at the oncoming ferocious creature. It smashed heavily into it, sending it flying and pulverizing a pile of coffins. The creature stood up again and charged at Wang Ya once more, reaching her in a flash.

Wang Ya desperately raised her palms to clash three times with it. The force of its strikes shook her into spitting blood repeatedly, leaving her dizzy, vision blurred, and mind dazed. Then she saw its sharp claws raking straight toward her face. She had no doubt that one swipe would explode her head. As death loomed in that instant, a surge of fury rushed to her mind: Dying under its claws—what a disgrace! With that thought, her blood seemed to ignite, and an utterly terrifying power erupted from her body. Her vision filled with blood light. She didn’t know where the strength came from, but she seized the claw already at her face. The surging power within her poured endlessly through her gripping palms into the creature’s body! Fiery red light instantly engulfed it!

The creature emitted a heart-wrenching scream. Massive Evil Qi surged from its body to resist the encroaching red light. Howling, it pressed ferociously toward Wang Ya, channeling thick black Evil Qi into its claws to crush the hands gripping it, still intent on clawing her head apart.

Wang Ya’s eyes burned scarlet as she held the creature’s hands without yielding an inch. The red light on her grew ever more blazing, even submerging her own figure. A Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower bloomed fully from her body, reaching its peak splendor. The vivid red light from the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower enveloped the entire Myriad Coffins Array. The Corpse Ghosts within were pierced by the red light; the Yin Qi condensed in their bodies evaporated like green smoke, causing them to wither and shrink rapidly into desiccated, bone-only mummies that collapsed to the ground.

The light pierced the ferocious creature, with endless red light pouring into its body. Vast amounts of Evil Qi sprayed from it, and the red light rippling across its form resembled burning flames, scorching its skin to crack and peel away inch by inch, its bones and frame exploding in segments. In mere moments, the creature was blasted beyond recognition. The black qi within it dissipated completely, its abdominal flesh gone, revealing a faint golden glow the size of a pigeon’s egg at its dantian.

The red light throughout the Myriad Coffins Array surged toward that “pigeon’s egg,” swiftly devouring it. As the creature’s remaining torso crumbled into a pile of decayed bones and collapsed, all the red light flowed back into Wang Ya’s body, vanishing without a trace soon after.

Wang Ya lay on the ground, feeling invigorated and radiant, without any fatigue or pain from the fierce battle. A cool sensation gathered at her lower abdomen’s dantian. Cool qi flowed from her abdomen into her meridians, enveloping her entire body in refreshing chill.

One day, a girl born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Ghost Festival—flipped open an ancient, faded scroll and suddenly discovered that it brimmed with vibrant colors.

The painting depicted undulating mountains, resembling an ancient map. It was made from human skin and drawn with blood as ink, with ghost shadows lurking upon it.
