Chapter 55: Underground Palace Blueprint Part 2

Zhang Qingshui glanced at Wang Ya, unfolded the twice-folded paper, and saw a few scribbled lines depicting a river, several mountains, and some karst caves. She stared at the drawing in her hand for a full two minutes before asking Wang Ya, “Did you draw this?”

Wang Ya asked, “Did you figure anything out?”

Zhang Qingshui glanced at Wang Ya again and turned to walk back into the room, asking, “Are you testing my Feng Shui skills?”

Wang Ya followed her in and noticed that Zhang Han was no longer in the room. A bottle of opened nail polish sat on the coffee table. Wang Ya’s gaze swept over Zhang Qingshui’s fingers—they were clean and bare—then down to her toes. The toes were quite fair, round and plump, very pretty, but only the big toe on the right foot had wine-red nail polish; the remaining four hadn’t been painted yet. Wang Ya inwardly snorted, “Zhang Qingshui, you closet perv.”

Zhang Qingshui didn’t hear Wang Ya’s response. Following Wang Ya’s gaze to her own toes, she set down the paper Wang Ya had brought and sat back by the coffee table to continue painting her nails.

Camisole nightdresses were short. Even if Zhang Qingshui sat ladylike, painting her nails required her to bend her right leg, exposing her snowy thigh and the edge of her light purple panties deep within. Wang Ya inwardly tsked twice, sat down on the nearby rattan chair, and said, “Did you recognize what mountain that is?”

Zhang Qingshui replied without lifting her head, “Though the drawing skill is lacking, the mountain shapes, terrain, and water flow distribution on it precisely form a Yin Gathering Land. Living people can’t stay there, nor can the dead be buried there.”

Wang Ya said, “Why can’t the dead be buried in a Yin Gathering Land?”

Zhang Qingshui said, “Your drawing is too simplistic. If we go to the location depicted, I might even pinpoint an Ultimate Yin Acupoint for you. It’s great for Ghost Raising—the Ghost Family’s Dead Old Lady would surely like it.”

Wang Ya said, “You’d like it too!”

Zhang Qingshui lifted her head to look at Wang Ya.

Wang Ya said, “I drew it based on the map on the Yin Spirit Scroll.”

Zhang Qingshui snatched the map, examined it closely over and over, then looked up at Wang Ya and said, “This is just one corner of it.”

Wang Ya said, “Did you expect me to draw the whole thing for you?”

Zhang Qingshui carefully folded the paper and tucked it into her bag, then settled back to continue painting her nails.

Wang Ya said, “Zhang Qingshui, let me tell you something.”

Zhang Qingshui made a soft “Mm.”

Wang Ya said, “The Feng Family’s Yin Spirit Scroll was drawn by some asshole—no place names at all. Next, I’ll trouble you to find this place based on the mountain shapes and terrain.”

Zhang Qingshui’s hand shook, and the nail polish brush in her fingers dropped to the floor. She looked up at Wang Ya and said, “You’re asking me to search the sea for a needle! Can’t you give me a reference point?”

Wang Ya said, “Sure! Give me the map back.”

Zhang Qingshui stood again and handed the paper to Wang Ya.

Wang Ya borrowed a pen from Zhang Qingshui and added a few strokes to the paper. She drew a line from underground near the dark river, added an arrow, and wrote two words: Yellow Springs. Then she sketched a waterway, added a few mountains nearby, drew a sinkhole and a dark river karst cave, and labeled it “Myriad Coffins Azure Dragon Palace.” After finishing, she slapped the paper back onto Zhang Qingshui’s soft, bouncy bosom and said, “Done!”

Zhang Qingshui pressed the paper against her chest, furrowed her brows at Wang Ya, then at her own bosom. She truly suspected Wang Ya had deliberately pressed it there. She glared at Wang Ya, picked up the paper, and frowned even deeper as she asked, “How do we find this?”

Wang Ya said, “That’s what I want to know too. That’s exactly how it’s drawn on the Yin Spirit Scroll anyway.”

Zhang Qingshui asked, “Any other reference points?”

Wang Ya said, “No.” In her heart, she added: Even if there were, I wouldn’t tell you.

Zhang Qingshui folded the paper again and put it in her bag. She finished painting her pinky toe’s nail polish, put away the bottle, and looked up to find Wang Ya still standing there, watching her with a half-smile. Wang Ya, radiating Demonic Aura with her alluring demonic features and that smile, instantly made Zhang Qingshui’s back crawl with chills. She asked, “What are you smiling at?” Was her demonic nature about to erupt?

Wang Ya tossed out, “Zhang Qingshui, I discovered you’re pretty pervy.” With that, she turned and headed out.

Zhang Qingshui stared at Wang Ya in stunned silence for a long while, not snapping out of it until Wang Ya reached the door.

Wang Ya paused at the door, suddenly remembering her dad hadn’t returned yet. It was nearly eleven twenty-three. She turned back, sat on the rattan chair, yawned, and said, “I’ll nap for a bit.”

Zhang Qingshui asked, “Won’t you go back to your room?”

Wang Ya said, “My dad’s not back yet; I’m worried. I’ll watch you. If something happens to him, it’ll be easy for me to strangle you.”

Zhang Qingshui glared at Wang Ya irritably. Was Wang Ya treating her like a hostage? She said, “We’re relying on you now, and you’re still afraid we’ll go after your dad?”

Wang Ya said, “Human hearts are hard to fathom; better safe than sorry. Besides, you’re not asking for my help just for the Ghost Pill.”

Zhang Qingshui was left speechless by Wang Ya’s retort. If she could beat this Millennium Great Demon, she’d grab Wang Ya and throw her out. But considering Wang Ya’s combat prowess, Zhang Qingshui could only endure it. Fine.

Wang Ya grew sleepier the longer she waited. Napping in the rattan chair was uncomfortable, so she simply crawled onto the bed, lay along the edge with her back to the room, and closed her eyes to sleep.

Zhang Qingshui sat on the other side of the bed watching TV and waiting for Huang Qi. Seeing this Millennium Great Demon climb onto the bed filled her with inexplicable terror; all her hairs stood on end. She turned to stare fixedly at Wang Ya’s back and clearly sensed the Demonic Power contained within Wang Ya’s body. The more she looked, the more terrifying Wang Ya seemed.

Yin Spirit Scroll

Yin Spirit Scroll

Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

Heaven had sun and moon; the world divided into yin and yang. The Yang Realm had people, so did the Underworld have ghosts? Where was the Underworld? Where were the ghosts?

One day, a girl born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Ghost Festival—flipped open an ancient, faded scroll and suddenly discovered that it brimmed with vibrant colors.

The painting depicted undulating mountains, resembling an ancient map. It was made from human skin and drawn with blood as ink, with ghost shadows lurking upon it.

The ancient scroll, soaked in blood, unveiled a little-known world—one filled with Yin Spirits and long-buried history.
