About three minutes passed with no movement from Wang Ya. Zhang Qingshui had just let out a sigh of relief when she saw Wang Ya turn over, open her eyes, and look at her. Zhang Qingshui involuntarily gripped the remote control in her hand tighter.
Wang Ya said, “Zhang Qingshui, how am I supposed to sleep with you staring at me like that?”
Zhang Qingshui shifted her gaze to the TV screen and said, “If you want to sleep, go back to your own room.”
Wang Ya closed her eyes, rolled onto her back, and lay there perfectly straight. She said slowly, “I thought about what you said after I went back. It can’t all be trusted. If the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon wanted to seize my body and be reborn, it wouldn’t wait until I had learned a whole set of skills, grown up, and developed my own personality and will. The best time would have been when I was still in the womb or right after birth. On the night I was born, a Family Heirloom of the Feng Family shattered. It was precisely because that Family Heirloom broke that my grandma rushed to my biological parents’ house, saved me, and took me in to raise.”
Zhang Qingshui’s expression grew solemn upon hearing Wang Ya’s words, and she fell silent.
Wang Ya continued, “I think some anomaly occurred during the Body Seizure that frightened my biological parents, and since I was a girl, he directly tried to drown me in a chamber pot. That was when I was at my most vulnerable, and I couldn’t withstand the ordeal, which damaged my Divine Soul and made me forget many things from before.”
Zhang Qingshui asked, “Why are you telling me all this?”
Wang Ya said, “You actually know I’m the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon reborn, but you deliberately said the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon was going to seize my body. Zhang Qingshui, you’re scheming against me and using me.”
Zhang Qingshui said, “It’s just a cooperation where we each get what we need. You’re overthinking it.”
A beautiful smile suddenly appeared on Wang Ya’s face as she lay there with her eyes closed. She said, “Zhang Qingshui, your hand is shaking.”
Zhang Qingshui gritted her teeth and shouted, “A millennium-old Flower Demon is lying on your bed threatening you—aren’t you scared?” She wanted to swing the remote control and smash it into this seductive demoness Wang Ya’s face, to flatten that bewitchingly beautiful face, but she didn’t dare. The close-range threat made Zhang Qingshui’s emotions spiral out of control. She knew Wang Ya still needed her for now and wouldn’t kill her immediately, yet she couldn’t suppress the fear and anger surging inside. Wang Ya was threatening her and might even make a move to control her. She had trapped herself in this dire predicament!
Wang Ya closed her eyes and rested, saying no more. She had gotten the answer she wanted. Zhang Qingshui had admitted she was the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon who had seized a body and been reborn.
Deep down, she understood that no matter what she had been in her previous life or how she had come into this world, she now had a human body and emotions—she was a living person. It was just that her way of arriving in this world wasn’t right. She hadn’t gone through the proper cycle of reincarnation to become a complete human cleanly. Instead, she had taken the place of that Wang Family child, retaining her Demonic Power and memories from her previous life to become who she was now. Everything had pros and cons. Her Demonic Power made her strong and better able to protect herself, but it also brought more dangers. Well, what was done was done. Even if her head was chopped off, it was just a bowl-sized scar—could her Demonic Power really force her to death? Scaring Zhang Qingshui with her demonic aura wasn’t bad either. Who asked Zhang Qingshui to be full of bad intentions and schemes! With a mischievous thought, Wang Ya’s bad side flared up again. She said lightly, “Zhang Qingshui, I’m hungry. It’s been a long time since I ate human flesh.”
Zhang Qingshui’s hand shook in fright, her mind heated, and the remote control in her hand slammed heavily onto Wang Ya’s face with a “bang.” The next second, she saw Wang Ya sit up, nosebleed dripping down, eyes filled with a demonic red glow. Terrified, Zhang Qingshui rolled off the bed and bolted toward the door.
Wang Ya sprang from the bed, leaped to the door in one step, and pinned Zhang Qingshui, who was reaching for the doorknob. She opened her mouth and bit down on Zhang Qingshui’s shoulder.
Zhang Qingshui had just reached the door when she felt Wang Ya, radiating Demonic Aura, pounce on her from behind, followed by excruciating pain from her shoulder where teeth sank in. Her mind flashed to those people Wang Ya had dragged into the Yellow Springs, instantly turned to withered bones by the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower Demon. Scared out of her wits, she struggled desperately, but Wang Ya’s grip was immense—she couldn’t budge it at all. Thinking of those decayed white bones and that Wang Ya, gone mad, would turn her into the same, Zhang Qingshui’s body went limp. She cried out in terror, “Wang Ya,” and her body slid downward weakly.
Wang Ya caught the sliding Zhang Qingshui and let out a disdainful hum. “What a disgrace!” With her left hand covering her bleeding nose, she used her right to help the limp Zhang Qingshui back onto the bed. She drawled, “I was just scaring you!” She pulled out a tissue to staunch the nosebleed and complained, “You sure don’t hold back!”
Zhang Qingshui sat on the bed, clutching the bedsheet tightly, biting her lower lip hard, her whole body trembling uncontrollably, still gripped by lingering fear.
Wang Ya crumpled the tissue into a ball and stuffed it in her nose. She brushed back the messy strands of hair from her forehead, looked up at Zhang Qingshui, and saw her pale-faced, lip-bitten, teary-eyed but silent—like a aggrieved little wife who didn’t dare fight back. Wang Ya couldn’t help but find it hilarious. She teased, “Zhang Beauty, where’s your cool composure?”
Zhang Qingshui trembled as she looked at Wang Ya, finally understanding. She shot Wang Ya a fierce glare and said shakily, “Is this fun for you?”
Wang Ya lifted her chin arrogantly. “If you didn’t see me as a demon, would you be this scared? Blaming me for scaring yourself?”
Zhang Qingshui wanted to beat Wang Ya senseless, but she knew she couldn’t win and couldn’t afford to provoke her. Furious, she could only bite her lip and glare murderously at Wang Ya!
