Chapter 58: The Expert Strikes Part 1

Old Tang looked up and saw a little girl wearing a red vest over red shorts, little leather shoes on her feet, and holding a small umbrella as she happily spun around in the courtyard. He said, “I see just an ordinary little girl.”

Huang Qi said with a hint of tension, “That kid really has heavy ghostly qi on her. She seems to have noticed us!”

Wang Ya said, “She has noticed us!” With that, she strode toward the little girl at full speed. Her speed was extremely fast; she covered the hundred-meter distance in just three or four seconds. At the same time, the little girl, who had her back turned, suddenly spun around, allowing Wang Ya to see the child’s face clearly. She slammed on the brakes in fright and cried out, “Oh my god!” From the back, the child had looked cute and endearing, if not delicately carved from jade and powder—otherwise, how could she run out in broad daylight without scaring people? But up close, Wang Ya discovered that the child was shrouded in ghostly qi, like a layer of disguise mask. If not for Wang Ya’s sharp eyes, the ghostly qi cloaking the child would have truly deceived her! Yet she didn’t know whether to feel fortunate or unlucky; she hadn’t been fooled by the ghost and had seen its true form directly. This seemingly five- or six-year-old child actually had the wrinkled face of someone at least seventy or eighty years old. Fine, an old face was one thing, but it was slathered in heavy makeup—like a Japanese geisha at first glance, or Paper Effigies upon closer inspection. But neither a geisha nor a paper effigy was this old!

The “Ghost Kid” spotted Wang Ya and froze in shock for a moment. Then her eyes shot up like spears, and she shrieked as if seeing her mortal enemy: “Wang Ya!” She drew her left hand along the umbrella handle, pulling out a Cane nearly as tall as herself that had been bound to the umbrella shaft. Gripping the Cane, she swung it fiercely at Wang Ya.

Wang Ya cried out in delight, “Ghost Granny!” No matter if you painted yourself like an elderly Japanese geisha or made up like a living Paper Person, sis would still recognize you—even if you burned to ashes, sis would know you! Seeing the staff smash toward her, Wang Ya channeled her Demonic Power into her palm. Her hand glowed with an eerie red light as she slapped toward the oncoming Cane of Ghost Granny.

Wang Ya’s shout had been extremely loud, and Zhang Qingshui, standing a hundred meters away with sharp ears, heard it clearly. She yelled, “Uncle Tang, quick!” and bolted toward Ghost Granny. Her running speed was no slower than Wang Ya’s had been moments before.

The moment Old Tang heard Wang Ya’s shout, he had already dashed to the off-road vehicle, popped the trunk, grabbed his Tang Dao, and charged toward Ghost Granny.

By the time Zhang Qingshui and Old Tang were rushing over, Wang Ya had already clashed with Ghost Granny. Wang Ya’s palm struck the Ebony Staff. The staff was extremely heavy, and the impact made her cry out “Ow!” in pain. She quickly withdrew her hand and rubbed her numb palm. Ghost Granny, meanwhile, arced through the air and crashed heavily onto a dining table under the shed, where four or five people had been eating around a spread of soups and dishes!

The table splintered, soup and water splashing everywhere, most of it drenching her. The cute, eerie, and clever Ghost Granny instantly became a bedraggled mess topped with hot dishes—a soupy hag.

The dining guests cried out in fright and jumped to their feet one after another.

Ghost Granny scrambled up, yelling, “They’re hitting a kid! Hitting a little child!” She wailed as she bolted straight into the house. Her hard clash with Wang Ya had already gauged the girl’s depth; how could she dare fight Wang Ya head-on under the noonday sun?

Wang Ya hated Ghost Granny to the bone. Her eyes turned red at the sight of her fleeing; how could she let her escape? She leaped up, formed seals with her hands, and unleashed a White Tiger Evil-Breaking Seal toward Ghost Granny. Sensing the disturbance behind her, the fleeing Ghost Granny spun around and blocked the strike with her Ebony Staff held horizontally across her chest. Wang Ya charged right up to her, raising her red-glowing palm and slapping toward Ghost Granny. The slap landed on Ghost Granny’s heavily made-up face, sending her flying. Wang Ya raised her right hand, fingers in a flower-pinch mudra, and a Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower materialized in her palm. She said coldly, “Dead Old Lady, sis will send you on your way!”

Ghost Granny tumbled from the slap and rolled into the corner by the wall. Flipping over, she saw Wang Ya radiating red light with the Yellow Springs Other Shore Flower pinched in her hand. She cried out in horror, “You’re the Feng Family’s Demon Flower!” Recognizing the danger, she dared not dally. She leaped up, Ebony Staff across her chest, and shouted in a trembling voice, “Wang Ya, you’re actually the Feng Family’s Millennium Demon Flower!”

Old Tang and Zhang Qingshui also rushed into the farmstay courtyard. Seeing a delicately carved, jade-like little child holding Ghost Granny’s Ebony Staff, retreating to the wall corner with a face full of fear as she stared at Wang Ya, they both froze. If not for the little girl’s shouts, they would have thought they’d gotten the wrong person!

Zhang Qingshui furrowed her brows and asked, “Wang Ya, is this Ghost Granny?”

Wang Ya ignored Zhang Qingshui entirely. Her cold gaze fixed on Ghost Granny as she slowly advanced step by step toward the fully alert ghost. With each step, the Demonic Power stored in her body surged continuously into her meridians and limbs, a faint red glow emerging over her body. This drew gasps of alarm from those around!

Yin Spirit Scroll

Status: Completed Native Language: Chinese

Heaven had sun and moon; the world divided into yin and yang. The Yang Realm had people, so did the Underworld have ghosts? Where was the Underworld? Where were the ghosts?

One day, a girl born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Ghost Festival—flipped open an ancient, faded scroll and suddenly discovered that it brimmed with vibrant colors.

The painting depicted undulating mountains, resembling an ancient map. It was made from human skin and drawn with blood as ink, with ghost shadows lurking upon it.

The ancient scroll, soaked in blood, unveiled a little-known world—one filled with Yin Spirits and long-buried history.
