“You motherf—,” Liang Sheng nearly swore out loud.
She shoved Su Ze aside, ready to storm out. Without those recordings, what the hell was there left to talk about?
“Don’t go,” Su Ze blocked her path. “Didn’t you want to talk? Let’s talk then. Come on.” He struck a smug, victorious pose, looking down on her from on high.
Liang Sheng glared at Su Ze. “There’s nothing left to discuss. Get out of my way. I’m leaving.”
Su Ze burst out laughing. “Oh no, you don’t, Liang Sheng. Get the situation straight—I’m the one who wants to talk to you, not the other way around. Understand?”
“And besides…” Su Ze paused for a moment before continuing, “No way. Without those recordings, you’re not even interested in tricking me into spilling more, huh?”
“There’s nothing left to say to you. Move.” Liang Sheng’s face darkened with rage as she started shoving him, trying to force her way out.
Su Ze gripped the doorframe tightly and sneered, “Liang Sheng, you didn’t seriously think I was that stupid, did you?”
Seeing that she couldn’t push Su Ze aside or get past him, Liang Sheng simply gave up. In a fit of despair, she trudged back into the room and flopped down onto a nearby stool. She crossed her legs and gave them a few lazy swings. “Spit it out then. Say what you have to say quick—I’m in a hurry to go find the Young Miss.”
“Acting all calm and collected? You don’t still have a recorder on you, do you?” Su Ze eyed her up and down suspiciously. Then… he pulled a metal detector out of a cabinet.
“Hey, Su Ze, now you’re just going too far,” Liang Sheng shot to her feet in fury. “If you don’t trust me, just let me leave. There’s nothing for us to talk about anyway.”
Su Ze shrugged. “But I want to say a few things, and I’m afraid you’ll pull some sneaky trick on me.” With that, he grabbed her arm and ran the detector over her from head to toe.
Beep beep beep.
“Hand it over~” Su Ze grinned and pointed at her slippers.
Liang Sheng’s face turned black as she pulled a phone out from inside her slipper.
“Well, well, no wonder that other phone looked so familiar. That one was Lu Ziqing’s, huh? And this one’s yours.” Su Ze pinched the phone between two fingers in disgust.
“Hey!” Liang Sheng was incensed. “If you find it so gross, give it back! And my socks are fresh today, okay? Who are you putting on this disgusting act for?” Is that really what you’re focusing on?
Satisfied, Su Ze pocketed everything he’d found on Liang Sheng. He flashed her a beaming smile. “Please, have a seat, Miss Liang Sheng. Let’s have a nice little chat.”
Liang Sheng slumped defeatedly into the chair, turning her head away in utter dejection. “Out with it. Spit it out quick, I, your father, don’t have time for your bullshit.”
Now confident that Liang Sheng had no recording devices left on her, Su Ze boldly took a seat across from her. “Liang Sheng, I advise you not to go against me. They’ll end up liking me in the end anyway. You can’t compete with me. Don’t bring suffering on yourself.”
“Ha?” Liang Sheng feigned surprise as she looked at him. “I’m not going against you. You’ve just got too many fish on the line, that’s all. You’ve done so much dirt, karma’s gonna bite you eventually, right?”
“Tch.” They both clicked their tongues at the same time. If not for the System’s rules forbidding discussion of Heartthrob Values and Favorability with outsiders, the two of them might have whipped out their Systems for a showdown right then.
“So tell me~” Liang Sheng’s expression suddenly turned smug. “Which girl doesn’t favor me more than you right now? What are you strutting about? Got the goods to strut in front of me?”
Su Ze scoffed. “You’re a girl, after all. Do you think they’d ever get all hot and bothered for you? At best, it’s just friend-zone feelings. But with me? They want to jump into bed and lock lips—that kind of like. (As if.) Think you can spark that in them?”
“You…!” Liang Sheng’s face flushed red with anger.
“Doesn’t your conscience hurt?” She took a breath to steady herself, calming her emotions.
“What?” Su Ze looked at her in confusion.
“I mean…” Liang Sheng gathered her words. “You dabble with girls left and right without getting tied down. Aren’t you afraid of having too many girlfriends and burning yourself?”
“Hahaha.” Su Ze roared with laughter. “Why would I want them as girlfriends? Stringing them along is way better. Watching them go crazy for me—rich young misses or daughters of officials, one after another. Doesn’t that feel amazing? Liang Sheng, you’re not a guy. You wouldn’t get the thrill.”
Liang Sheng’s mouth twitched at his words, a wave of nausea washing over her. “Scum!”
Far from getting mad at the insult, Su Ze chuckled and shot back, “Yeah, that’s right. I’m scum. But they’re all willing. They all like me so much, love me so much—they couldn’t live without me. What can I do? If I don’t respond, they’d be heartbroken. In a way, I’m kinda saving them, right?”
Ha? Liang Sheng was stunned. How could he say something so shameless without batting an eye?
