“You’re really shameless, aren’t you?” Liang Sheng forced the words out.
Su Ze spread his hands in a show of helplessness. “No helping it—you’re no different, are you? Liang Sheng, we’re cut from the same cloth, you and I.”
“Don’t disgust me, Su Ze,” Liang Sheng shot to her feet, her eyes brimming with undisguised revulsion. She turned to leave.
“Hold on, Liang Sheng.” Su Ze called after her with the smug air of a victor. “You’ve been ranting about me this whole time. Don’t you plan to spill anything about yourself? After all… you used to be one of my harem girls.”
“How did they even give birth to a creep like you?” Liang Sheng nearly spat the curse. It was utterly repulsive for him to say something like that. She glared at him, grinding her teeth. “I really should let the Young Miss hear what kind of person you are. And those so-called harem girls who adore you—they should hear it too.”
Su Ze burst into laughter and smugly pulled two powered-off phones and a broken recording pen from his pocket. “With these? Pfft, here—take your junk back, idiot!” He tossed Liang Sheng’s things back at her.
“What else you got?” Su Ze drawled as he paced leisurely around the room. “Ah, I get it. You’re counting on Lu Ziqing eavesdropping? Fat chance. She trusts me. She’s not here.”
Liang Sheng bowed her head and let out a hollow chuckle. Then she walked out of Su Ze’s room. He watched her retreating back, assuming he’d driven her mad, and couldn’t help laughing again.
“Hahaha!” A bright, ringing laugh echoed—not from Su Ze, but from Liang Sheng. He froze, a chill of foreboding creeping over him.
Liang Sheng bounced back around, tilting her head at him with a grin before skipping to the door of the room next to Su Ze’s. She knocked three times. “Knock knock knock.” “Young Miss, you can come out now. Su Ze and I are done talking. About what you overheard… are you satisfied?”
She was speaking to Lu Ziqing, but her eyes bored into Su Ze like a venomous snake flicking its tongue.
What?! Su Ze stood there dumbfounded, as if struck by lightning.
But after a long moment, no one emerged.
“Hahaha!” Liang Sheng’s laughter rang out clear as a bell. She stuck her tongue out at Su Ze playfully. “Just kidding~”
“You…!” Su Ze’s face flushed and paled by turns, becoming a living color palette. But his heart settled—turns out she was just messing with him. Childish.
Creak. The door on the other side of Su Ze’s room swung open. Lu Ziqing emerged, head lowered. Su Ze heard the sound and turned slowly, his pupils contracting in horror. It was over… Thud. He dropped to his knees.
Liang Sheng laughed even harder at the sight, looking down at him imperiously. “Oh yeah, that was a trick too~ Not this room, but the one on the other side. Surprise? Thrilling? Unexpected?” Good lord—if someone with a heart condition endured these ups and downs, they’d keel over on the spot.
He actually knelt. Liang Sheng powered on her phone and snapped a photo with a click. What a day to remember~ From now on, today would be the Su Kneel Festival!
“Liang Sheng, come here.” Lu Ziqing’s face was stern as she beckoned.
Liang Sheng approached, and Lu Ziqing shoved a phone into her hands. “I recorded it, though it might not be super clear. Take it and let those girls listen too.”
“Okay…” Before Liang Sheng could finish agreeing, her hands were emptied—someone had snatched the items away. A glance at Lu Ziqing’s expression told her it was Su Ze.
Smash! Before Liang Sheng could react, the phone shattered against the wall.
“Su Ze, what are you doing?!” Liang Sheng rushed over and picked it up. It was wrecked, smashed to bits, completely unusable.
My dear daddy spent eight thousand soft sister coins on this phone… Liang Sheng nearly burst into tears, her heart aching to the point of suffocation (so yeah, it’s still about the money). I’m gonna beat Su Ze, that turtle grandson, to death!
Fine, you asked for it! Punch him!
Smack! Another sharp crack sounded from behind. Liang Sheng whipped around, thinking Su Ze had smashed something else valuable. Instead, she saw Young Miss Lu Ziqing’s hand raised high—and Su Ze’s right cheek red and swollen, his face etched with disbelief.
“Miss Ziqing, you…” Su Ze clutched his cheek.
Lu Ziqing glared at him. “What else do you have to say? Huh? Think I’d fall for more of your sweet talk?”
Liang Sheng narrowed her eyes at Lu Ziqing.
“Lu Ziqing’s Favorability Toward Su Ze: 12”
My god… Did it just drop over fifty points? Is this 12 what’s left from years of companionship and lingering feelings? Liang Sheng crouched on the ground, stunned.
“Liang Sheng!” Lu Ziqing turned to her. “What are you doing squatting there like an idiot? Let’s go!”
“Oh, right!” Liang Sheng nodded hurriedly, stood up, and prepared to leave.
