Heh.
Maybe.
True to form, Liang Sheng slept straight through until morning.
And then, as expected, she caught a cold.
“Aqiu!” Liang Sheng had barely sat up when she let out a massive sneeze.
“Okay, I’ve got a cold. I’m burning up already.” She flopped right back onto the bed and pulled the covers over herself. “You guys head down first. Tell the teacher I’m too sick to get up.”
Heh heh. That’s exactly how she used to skip school back in the day.
Liang Sheng really did have a fever. She lay there in a daze and realized the other three had caught colds too. Probably from getting soaked in the rain for so long yesterday.
“I’ll call Teacher Dong Yue then.” Liang Sheng’s nose was already stuffy, turning her voice all muffled.
“Hello?” Teacher Dong Yue’s voice didn’t sound right either.
“Teacher, it looks like we’ve all got fevers,” Liang Sheng said, her voice even weaker. “Can we skip the camping trip with you today?”
“Ah…” Teacher Dong Yue responded.
“Ah…” She let out another one.
“Teacher?” Liang Sheng thought it was weird. Why was Teacher Dong Yue just going “ah ah ah” without actually saying anything back? Had too many people called in sick and pissed her off?
“Ah…” Teacher Dong Yue repeated it yet again.
Liang Sheng chickened out and started backpedaling. “Um, Teacher, maybe I won’t—”
She didn’t even finish the sentence.
“Achoo!” Teacher Dong Yue unleashed a thunderous sneeze.
A Zhe… So that’s what it was—a sneeze. Just a false alarm after all.
“Go ahead and take the day off. No one’s going camping today,” Teacher Dong Yue said as she rubbed her nose. “The principal just notified me.”
“Oh oh!” Liang Sheng broke into a grin. “So the principal actually cares about us~”
“Uh…” There was a long silence on Teacher Dong Yue’s end. “Well, actually, it’s because the principal has a fever too.”
Liang Sheng: “…”
Give me back my heartwarming moment.
“Okay, Liang Sheng. I’ve got to notify the other students. Bye.”
Liang Sheng didn’t even get her “okay” out before Teacher Dong Yue hung up.
“No camping today!” Liang Sheng suddenly perked up. She yanked the covers off herself with a whoosh and sat bolt upright.
She scrambled over to grab the remote from Song An’an’s bed, then dove straight into Song An’an’s warm little nest of blankets.
“Hoo hoo~” Liang Sheng nuzzled her face against Song An’an’s. “An’an~ Your face is so soft~”
Ding~
Favorability increased.
“Song An’an’s Favorability towards Liang Sheng: 153”
Lu Ziqing took one look and felt a sour taste in her mouth. She threw off her own covers and scooted over to Song An’an’s bed.
“Liang Sheng, what movie are you gonna watch? I’m so bored. I’ll hang out and watch a little with you guys!” It was a total non-sequitur. This little tsundere was grasping at straws, making up any excuse just to snuggle closer to Liang Sheng.
“Let’s watch… an action flick.” Liang Sheng tapped open what looked like a hot-blooded old-school domestic martial arts movie (the real deal—no funny business, you pervs).
“Yawn~” The other girls weren’t into it at all. Lu Ziqing straight-up yawned right next to her.
As for Ni Sihan, she hadn’t even woken up. She just rolled over and kept sleeping.
Before long, Song An’an had dozed off in Liang Sheng’s arms, while Lu Ziqing started nodding off too, her head pillowed on Liang Sheng’s shoulder.
Ah~ This left-right embrace felt simply divine! Liang Sheng was in absolute bliss, enjoying her favorite movie with two beauties snuggled up beside her.
Liang Sheng finished the first movie but still wasn’t satisfied. She queued up a horror flick next.
“Wah!” Jump scare right at the start.
The other girls jolted awake.
Horror movies had a magnetic pull for girls like them. The ones who’d been uninterested moments ago all crowded in—even Ni Sihan sat up and glued her eyes to the TV.
“Ah! A-Sheng~ I’m scared~” Song An’an burrowed deeper into Liang Sheng’s arms.
“Okay~ Don’t be scared~ I’ve got you.” Liang Sheng hugged Song An’an tight and patted her little head to soothe her.
“L-Liang, Liang Sheng.” Young Miss Lu Ziqing was way too proud to admit she was scared out loud~ But her emotions were plain as day on her face, all tense and nervous.
One of her hands clutched at Liang Sheng’s pajamas and tugged downward.
Hey hey hey!!! Stop stop!! Any lower and it’d be a wardrobe malfunction!
Liang Sheng hurriedly pulled Lu Ziqing into a hug too. “Young Miss, Young Miss, don’t be afraid! It’s all fake! All fake~”
“Who’s afraid!” Lu Ziqing shot a glare at the girl holding her. “I’m not scared at all. You’re the one who’s scared, aren’t you?”
“Yeah yeah, I’m the scared one~ I’m the scared one~” The best way to handle a tsundere was to play along, spouting nonsense and giving her all the steps she needed to climb down.
“Then, Young Miss Lu, let me hug you. Lend me a bit of your fearless courage, okay?” Liang Sheng grinned mischievously.
Lu Ziqing didn’t hesitate. She flopped down on Liang Sheng’s other side, using her arm as a pillow. “Ahem, this position it is then. You shouldn’t be so scared anymore, right?”
“Hehehe~~” Liang Sheng stroked Young Miss Lu Ziqing’s silky hair. “Not scared now~ Not scared~”
Ni Sihan stared at the three girls with a deadpan expression, thick black lines practically forming on her forehead. From their direction, she could’ve sworn she smelled a heavy whiff of orange scent.
Gurgle… Ni Sihan’s stomach let out a loud growl. She couldn’t help calling out to Liang Sheng. “Liang Sheng, I’m starving. Aren’t you guys hungry?”
Ah… Now that Ni Sihan mentioned it, Liang Sheng realized she was hungry too.
“Then I’ll order some delivery! Everyone up for fried chicken? How about tteokbokki? Milk tea too?” Liang Sheng pulled out her phone.
Eh? Delivery? Talk about low-class! Ni Sihan pouted in disdain. “Why don’t we go out to eat? There must be some fancy Western restaurant or high-end spot around here.”
Liang Sheng shook her head immediately at those words. “That’d be such a waste of money!”
Ni Sihan blinked in disbelief. “Isn’t your family loaded? Liang Sheng, your dad’s in real estate!”
Liang Sheng shrugged. “That’s my dad’s money. He’s the rich one, not me.”
Ni Sihan felt like she was being shown up again.
“What about you two?” Ni Sihan turned to Lu Ziqing and Song An’an. “Wanna go out and eat together?”
Lu Ziqing shook her head. She didn’t feel like moving a muscle. With her cold, her whole body felt exhausted, like she’d been up all night working out or something (what’s with everyone being off today?).
Song An’an? She just wanted to cuddle with her A-Sheng a little longer.
“Ah…” Ni Sihan sighed. She didn’t feel like moving either. “Fine, delivery it is.”
“Hehe~” Liang Sheng opened the “Called a Duck” app. “How about some roast duck then?”
“That’s not even clean…” Ni Sihan started getting picky again.
“Eh?” A notification popped up on Liang Sheng’s phone screen. “Uh oh, looks like… we won’t need delivery after all?”
