After storming out, Ni Sihan realized things weren’t unfolding as she’d imagined. Shouldn’t Song An’an have chased after her to explain? What was going on?
Damn it, she was too embarrassed to go back now. Ni Sihan bit her fingernail as she headed downstairs. If she’d known this would happen, she never would have put Song An’an in the same room as herself. Putting Gu Yuqi there would have been much better—she was so handsome, after all.
Ni Sihan was stewing on the living room sofa, wondering how she could keep building favorability with Song An’an once she returned, when Liang Sheng and the others came down from upstairs.
“Sihan, you’re sitting here?”
At the familiar voice, Ni Sihan jerked her head up. She spotted Liang Sheng at the same moment she noticed Song An’an clinging to Liang Sheng’s arm.
Why was she here too? Ni Sihan frowned, her mind racing with wild suspicions. Had Song An’an gone whining to Liang Sheng about her? Was Liang Sheng down here to avenge the little crybaby?
“Ah, Liang Sheng…” Ni Sihan twisted around to greet her. That’s when she noticed another girl trailing behind—Gu Yuqi.
“Aren’t you all going to sleep?” Ni Sihan asked.
Liang Sheng rubbed her belly and gave an awkward laugh. “I ate too much earlier, and now I’m hungry again. Got any leftover pastries or candy in the kitchen?”
“Sure,” Ni Sihan said, standing up. “There’s some cupcake bites and a bit of nougat.”
“Great, I’ll grab some. An’an says she’s hungry too.” Liang Sheng nodded toward Song An’an.
Ni Sihan’s temper flared at once.
Earlier, she’d kindly fetched chocolate for Song An’an, and that crybaby had only nibbled one piece. Now she was playing pitiful in front of Liang Sheng, claiming she was starving? Who was she putting on this show for?
“Ah… An’an, I remember bringing you that chocolate,” Ni Sihan couldn’t hold back. She wanted to drive a wedge between Song An’an and Liang Sheng. “I don’t think you ate it, though. That’s all there is in the kitchen—why don’t you grab some and take it upstairs?”
Song An’an’s heart skipped a beat at her words. She glanced quickly at A-Sheng.
Phew, good thing A-Sheng didn’t react.
She really hadn’t eaten it, and she wasn’t even hungry. Song An’an knew she’d lied to Liang Sheng, and the thought terrified her. What if Liang Sheng found out? What if she started hating her, thinking she was a bad kid?
“I… I wasn’t that hungry then…” Song An’an mumbled, fiddling with her fingers—her classic sign of guilt.
The kid was so easy to read. Liang Sheng had seen right through Song An’an’s little scheme from the start but played dumb. “Yeah, but you’re hungry now, right? That chocolate was delicious. Let’s grab those cupcakes and head upstairs to eat.”
Truth be told, Liang Sheng didn’t think Ni Sihan was a bad person at heart. She was just too vain and money-obsessed, her eyes blinded by greed. If you asked her to kill someone, she’d hesitate—unlike Su Ze, who was ruthless and efficient.
But with their conflicting systems bound to them, the two were rivals, locked in a fight to the finish. (Well, exaggerating a bit.)
Phew, it seems like A-Sheng didn’t notice my lie.
The adorably airheaded Song An’an figured her acting deserved at least ninety-nine out of a hundred. In reality, even Gu Yuqi behind her had seen through the fib.
Gu Yuqi sank into unprecedented anxiety.
Why did the girl she liked have so many other girls after her? All of them pretty, cute, and capable. It was way too tricky. Dealing with them one by one would be such a hassle.
Once they’d grabbed the snacks, Ni Sihan followed them upstairs. Along the way, she quietly said to Song An’an, “An’an, do you not like sharing a room with others? Don’t worry, I won’t bother you. I sleep like a log—you don’t have to be so stiff around me~”
Ni Sihan said it right in front of Liang Sheng, knowing Song An’an wouldn’t dare refuse outright.
“I…”
Just as she’d predicted, Song An’an shrank back into her little coward shell.
“Come on, I’m super laid-back! You’re making me feel all awkward too.” Ni Sihan pressed on.
Song An’an ducked her head. “O-Okay.”
God, what a wimp. Liang Sheng couldn’t even watch. She’d known this little coward Song An’an for so long, and she still hadn’t toughened up a bit. Her skin was as thin as ever.
Didn’t she know the saying? The shy miss out, while the bold get their fill.
Song An’an desperately wished Liang Sheng would stay hungry forever, so she’d never leave this room and go back to bed.
“An’an, it’s late—you should rest. Get along with Sihan, okay?” Liang Sheng patted Song An’an’s forehead like she was scolding a child.
Song An’an nodded obediently, though her eyes brimmed with grievance. “Okay, A-Sheng. Don’t worry about me.”
She had to be a good, sensible kid. She couldn’t let A-Sheng wear herself out over her.
After Liang Sheng left, the room fell quiet once more.
Song An’an spoke first. “Um… why don’t you shower first? Then I’ll go.”
“You go ahead,” Ni Sihan demurred. “You go.”
The two of them were painfully polite, like strangers who’d just met, not classmates who’d known each other for ages.
This is so awkward, so awkward! A-Sheng! I’m trying so hard! Come save me qvq!!!!!
No response.
Meanwhile, in Room 205—Song An’an’s precious A-Sheng was lying in bed with her dream girl, Senior Sister Gu Yuqi.
“Senior Sister, you smell so good~” Liang Sheng wrapped her arms around Gu Yuqi’s waist and buried her face in the senior sister’s chest.
“Mm-hmm~ Probably the milk and petal scent. You’ve got it on you too~” Gu Yuqi hugged Liang Sheng indulgently, like an old married couple.
Liang Sheng lifted her own arm and sniffed it hard, shaking her head. “Nope, only Senior Sister Yuqi has that amazing scent!”
“Oh~ So maybe it’s because you like me so much?” Gu Yuqi teased, stirring Liang Sheng’s heart again.
Wow, Senior Sister is such a tease~ Liang Sheng nuzzled even deeper into her chest.
“Junior Sister Liang Sheng smells great too~ All milky and sweet,” Gu Yuqi paused, then pinched her nose. “Makes me want to gobble you up in one bite!”
“Ah!” Liang Sheng grabbed Gu Yuqi’s wrist. Unaware that she was flirting back, she giggled. “Then go ahead, Senior Sister~ Eat me right up!”
Gu Yuqi froze. Realizing what she’d said, she ruffled Liang Sheng’s hair wildly until it sparked with static. “You dummy! What a dummy—you’re playing with fire saying stuff like that!”
Liang Sheng was clueless at first, but then it hit her: her words sounded like an invitation to devour her whole.
Cough, she wasn’t some ravenous woman! But… gazing at her senior sister’s perfect slender waist, dirty thoughts flooded Liang Sheng’s pervy brain once more.
