Chapter 4: Taking the Puppy Home

Even the lecturer noticed an extra person in the class. The number of students in each class was already small, and since it was a specialized course, almost no one skipped class.

She could tell at a glance who wasn’t present today. The lecturer spotted Su Jianyue next to Shen Xun almost immediately; after all, if such a beautiful female alpha were in the class, she would have noticed her long ago.

The lecturer’s gaze went back and forth between Shen Xun and Su Jianyue a few times, then she chuckled and teased, “Shen Xun, your friend came to see you?”

Shen Xun hadn’t expected the teacher to be gossiping, so she quickly explained with a smile, “Mhm, my sister came to visit me for a few days.”

The lecturer smiled and looked at the two for a few moments, then said no more and began the class.

Shen Xun listened attentively as usual, but Su Jianyue took a few sheets of A4 paper. When she got bored, she simply used a pen to draw on the A4 paper. Her major in university was fine arts; she hadn’t studied finance or similar subjects.

Her family fully supported this. If there was no one to take over Su Yubing’s company in the future, she could always hire a professional manager. The same went for Mo Yuxin’s studio; as long as they had money and shares, there would be no shortage of people to help manage things.

Su Jianyue watched Shen Xun while sketching on the A4 paper. Before long, she had drawn Shen Xun’s outline. She didn’t disturb Shen Xun, just quietly continued drawing.

After listening to the lecture for a while, Shen Xun turned to look at Su Jianyue and saw her drawing. The person in the drawing was herself.

Seeing her little puppy obediently drawing her, Shen Xun’s eyes curved into a smile, and she reached out to ruffle Su Jianyue’s hair.

Su Jianyue wasn’t annoyed by Shen Xun’s touch. Her eyes curved as she looked at Shen Xun, pointing to the drawing on her desk.

Shen Xun nodded, signaling her to continue drawing, while she herself continued to listen to the lecture.

During the break, Su Jianyue had finished her drawing. She brought the drawing to Shen Xun, whining, “Sister, how do you think my drawing is? Is it pretty?”

“It’s beautiful. Are you bored accompanying me to class? Or do you want to go out for a walk? Wait for me to finish class?” Shen Xun suggested, fearing Su Jianyue might be bored.

“No, no, I just want to stay with you,” Su Jianyue continued to whine.

“Okay, you can stay with me if you’re not bored.”

During the second class, Su Jianyue was quite tired. She had woken up very early for her flight that morning. After sitting in her seat for a while, Su Jianyue fell asleep with her head on the desk.

Shen Xun saw her little puppy obediently sleeping there, and her eyes became even softer. Little puppies, no matter what they do, are adorable.

Finally, when class was dismissed, Shen Xun reached out and nudged Su Jianyue. “Class is over, let’s go home.”

“Tsk tsk tsk, going home? Are you abandoning me again?” Zhang Qiao teased from behind Shen Xun.

“Mhm, I’m going back to accompany my sister,” Shen Xun replied with a smile.

“Alright, alright, it’s quieter for me to stay in the dorm by myself anyway.”

Su Jianyue was awake now. She rubbed her eyes and gave Shen Xun a sweet smile. “Sister, class is over?”

“Mhm, are you tired? Let’s go, we can sleep more when we get home.” Shen Xun wanted to pinch Su Jianyue’s cheek, but her hand was already extended when Shen Xun forcibly changed its direction, instead helping Su Jianyue tidy her slightly messy hair.

Su Jianyue stared at Shen Xun with sparkling eyes. Her Sister Shen Xun was just so thoughtful, even helping her tidy her hair.

“You’re still half-asleep. Go to bed early when we get back today.” Su Jianyue took a moment to fully wake up.

“Okay, what do you want for dinner? I’ll have the auntie at home prepare it for you,” Shen Xun said with a smile.

Su Jianyue had never been a picky eater since childhood. She always enjoyed everything she ate. It was the same when she was on variety shows as a child; some children needed adults to coax them to eat, but she was different. After finishing one bite, she would open her mouth wide, waiting for Mama and Mommy to feed her more.

Because of this, many parents, after watching that variety show, would tell their own babies, “Look at Little Moon.”

Shen Xun saw that she didn’t have anything specific she wanted to eat, so she proactively suggested, “Crayfish is quite good this season. How about I ask Auntie to prepare crayfish tonight? Two flavors, garlic and spicy, how about that?”

“Mhm mhm, and don’t forget some crayfish noodles! Eating crayfish without noodles has no soul!” Su Jianyue suggested.

Shen Xun smiled and agreed, “Okay, you always know best what to eat. I’ll call Auntie now.”

After Shen Xun spoke, she walked out with Su Jianyue while calling the auntie at home.

The villa had dedicated suppliers who delivered ingredients to their doorstep, so there was no need to worry about the freshness of the food.

By the time she finished her call, the two had walked out of the teaching building.

Su Jianyue walked with Shen Xun to the school gate and soon got into Shen Xun’s family car.

When they arrived home, Shen Tian and Lu Ningwan were already back.

“Mama, Mommy, why are you back so early today?”

“Isn’t Little Moon coming over today? Your Mama and I thought we’d finish work early and come back to be with you two,” Shen Tian said with a smile, looking at the two grown-up little ones.

“Thank you, Auntie Shen, Auntie Lu, hehe, I’m here to freeload on dinner again!”

“We’re happy when you’re here every day, your Auntie Lu and I. It’s hard to find someone to accompany our Xunxun,” Shen Tian said with a laugh.

Shen Tian’s gaze fell on her daughter again. Her daughter’s personality was more composed than both her and Lu Ningwan’s. She treated others with a lukewarm attitude, but she particularly liked Su Jianyue, the sister she had known since childhood. Every time Su Jianyue came home, her daughter was the happiest.

“Then I’ll come often when I have time, as long as the aunties don’t mind me being noisy,” Su Jianyue immediately whined.

“How could we? You’re everyone’s ray of sunshine.” After all, she was a child they watched grow up; how could Shen Tian not like her?

“Your Auntie Lu and I will go up and change first, then we’ll come back to be with you two.” Shen Tian said, reaching out to take Lu Ningwan’s hand and heading upstairs.

Lu Ningwan saw the two children still watching, and her face turned red. She struggled a bit but couldn’t break free, quietly reminding her, “The children are still here, what are you doing?”

“So what if they’re here? I’m holding my own wife, not someone else.”

Then Shen Tian was glared at by Lu Ningwan.

Shen Tian gave Lu Ningwan an appeasing smile, then continued to pull her upstairs.

Shen Xun was embarrassed. Her Mama and Mommy were always like this, often showing affection in front of her at home, and this time Su Jianyue saw it too.

Su Jianyue looked at Shen Xun beside her and laughed, “The aunties have such a good relationship, just like my Mommy and them, always showing affection to me.”

“Let’s go, wash your hands and wait for dinner.”

“Okay.” Su Jianyue obediently followed Shen Xun into the bathroom.

After washing their hands, the two sat on the sofa, chatting while waiting for dinner. Shen Xun also had the auntie at home squeeze orange juice; she knew Su Jianyue had loved drinking various freshly squeezed fruit juices since childhood.

After a while, Lin Man arrived home first. Lin Man had now taken over the Qin family’s business. Her Mama and Mommy had left the company to her and gone on vacation a month ago, and they still hadn’t returned. Lin Man was utterly exasperated.

“Sis, you’re back?” Shen Xun greeted Lin Man.

Lin Man nodded. “Mhm, these past few days haven’t been as busy. My moms have been gone for a month, leaving the whole company to me. I’m exhausted.”

“Hello, Sister Lin Man,” Su Jianyue politely greeted Lin Man.

Lin Man smiled at her. “You two, cherish your university days. After graduation, you’ll all have to go to the company and work like beasts of burden, just like me.”

“Sister, aren’t you a big boss? How are you still a beast of burden?” Su Jianyue said with a laugh.

“Being a boss means you still have to work. Sigh, I remember you have a younger sister, right? If you don’t want to work, then train your sister well. I have no choice; I have to manage the Qin Group’s assets myself. Shen Xun will also have to work at the Shen Group after graduation. None of you should think about being idle,” Lin Man said, stretching and complaining.

Su Jianyue smiled sweetly and said proudly, “I majored in fine arts in university. My Mommy said if I don’t want to manage the company in the future, I can hire someone to do it. But of course, my sister will definitely be fine. I’ll just leave the company to her to manage in the future.”

“You certainly know how to enjoy life,” Lin Man said, envious. How could Su Jianyue live such a comfortable life?

“Hehe, of course!” Su Jianyue tilted her head proudly.

Before long, everyone was seated in the dining room. The auntie brought out the crayfish. Each person had two small bowls of crayfish, plus a plate of noodles.

Su Jianyue immediately chose the garlic-flavored plate. After putting on gloves and eating a few crayfish, she put the noodles into the garlic crayfish sauce and stirred them.

She tasted a bite of the noodles; they were fresh and sweet, coated with the flavor of the crayfish.

Su Jianyue ate happily. Before long, the crayfish shells in front of her piled up into a small mountain.

Shen Tian saw her eating happily and laughed, “You’re still the same as when you were little, no change. I remember you weren’t a picky eater on the show and ate very heartily.”

Su Jianyue smiled and nodded. “Yes, Auntie, I’ve loved to eat everything since I was little.”

Watching Su Jianyue eat so heartily, everyone present, for once, ate a little more than usual.

After dinner, Su Jianyue felt a bit sleepy. Although she still wanted to stick with her sister, Shen Xun saw she was tired and told her to go rest first.

Su Jianyue returned to her room, reported what she had done today in the family group chat to her Mama and them, and then finally went to sleep.
