Chapter 5: What a Coincidence

In the Reincarnation Space, there were mainly two types of cards: Equipment Cards and Ability Cards. By entering Reincarnation Worlds and completing missions assigned by the Reincarnation Space, Reincarnators could earn rewards to enhance their own energy, obtain Equipment Cards, and obtain Ability Cards, thereby increasing their overall strength.

Only one Equipment Card and one Ability Card could be used at a time. To use a different Equipment or Ability Card required canceling the currently active card of the same type.

Whether Ability Cards or Equipment Cards, their ranks were divided as follows: N (White Card), R (Green Card), SR (Blue Card), SSR (Purple Card), UR (Gold Card), EX (Rainbow Card).

In her past life, Tsukiyomi Ruri had possessed multiple EX-Rainbow Cards. Unfortunately, she couldn’t take them with her when she broke away from the Reincarnation Space. Being able to keep her accumulated energy was already quite fortunate.

The next day, Tsukiyomi Ruri returned to school.

Cherry blossoms were planted both inside and outside the school grounds. The spring breeze blew gently, carrying pale pink-white petals floating past Tsukiyomi Ruri’s vision.

‘I wonder what that Reincarnator from last night is called… And where should I even begin to look?’

Tsukiyomi Ruri was preoccupied, her small face remaining taut.

She decided to ask some acquaintances about it. For her, among her classmates, only Mizuhashi Yuzuki was somewhat familiar. However, when Tsukiyomi Ruri arrived at the classroom, she waited and waited, but Mizuhashi Yuzuki never showed up. It wasn’t until the teacher arrived that she learned Yuzuki had taken the morning off and wouldn’t come until noon.

Tsukiyomi Ruri wasn’t in a particular rush. Since the girl from last night was a student at this school, there was no escaping.

At noon, Tsukiyomi Ruri went to the club activity room.

As always, Izumi Shirayuki was sitting in the activity room, as if she didn’t need to attend classes. Mizuhashi Yuzuki had also arrived, and the two had been chatting.

“Tsukiyomi-san!” Seeing Tsukiyomi Ruri, Mizuhashi Yuzuki waved.

Facing this overly familiar classmate who sat behind her, Tsukiyomi Ruri was about to say something when she heard a knock at the door she had just closed. She moved aside and sat down on a nearby chair.

Izumi Shirayuki used her gentle voice. “Please come in.”

The activity room door slid open. A rather pretty girl with long, straight black hair walked in. She seemed uneasy around strangers, her hands clutching her short skirt, her head slightly lowered.

“Excuse me, is this the Urban Legend Club? I’m a new first-year student, Inoue Keiko. I’m here to apply for club membership,” the girl asked timidly.

Tsukiyomi Ruri: “…”

Izumi Shirayuki: “…”

Mizuhashi Yuzuki: “…”

After finishing her sentence, Inoue Keiko noticed no one was answering. Puzzled, she looked up to see all three girls in the room staring intently at her. Not knowing what was wrong, she grew even more anxious.

Although she was a Reincarnator, her mindset was still that of an ordinary person, and her personality had always been timid and shy. Facing this situation, she had no idea what to do.

“Oh, Inoue Keiko-san! What made you think of joining our Urban Legend Club? I’m the Club President, Izumi Shirayuki, a third-year. You can call me Izumi-Senpai.” Izumi Shirayuki gathered herself and quickly spoke.

She truly hadn’t expected that the Reincarnator she had encountered last night would come to apply for club membership today. Had she somehow discovered her identity last night?

Inoue Keiko replied, “Since I hadn’t joined any club a few days after enrollment, my teacher told me I should at least join one. I happened to pass by the Urban Legend Club’s classroom, so I thought I’d just join this one.”

That was quite random…

Izumi Shirayuki thought for a moment. Indeed, a poster about the Urban Legend Club was pasted on the wall outside the activity room. Anyone passing by would know this was the Urban Legend Club.

‘So that’s why… I thought she had discovered my identity last night.’

Mizuhashi Yuzuki also internally breathed a sigh of relief. Her previous thought had been exactly the same as Izumi Shirayuki’s—that Inoue Keiko had come because of her. After all, she believed she was the only Reincarnator in the Urban Legend Club. She didn’t know about Tsukiyomi Ruri’s situation, nor naturally about Izumi Shirayuki’s.

‘She just delivered herself to our doorstep?’

Tsukiyomi Ruri mused.

She had been planning to search for Inoue Keiko, and now the girl had come right to her. Moreover, joining the same club would make it more convenient to observe her from now on.

With this thought, Tsukiyomi Ruri decisively spoke up. “President, I support Inoue-san’s admission.”

“I support it too,” Mizuhashi Yuzuki chirped. She was an extremely outgoing person by nature; regardless of who joined, she would never object.

Seeing this, Izumi Shirayuki naturally had no objections. “Inoue-san, welcome to the club. However, you’ll still need to fill out an application form. I’ll get it for you.”

“Thank you, Club President.” Inoue Keiko bowed.

“No need to be so formal. Once you’re in the club, we’re all family here,” Izumi Shirayuki said in a gentle voice.

Next, Izumi Shirayuki introduced the other club members to Inoue Keiko, including the two other members who had been on leave and hadn’t returned yet.

Tsukiyomi Ruri paid little attention to the rest. As she ate her boxed lunch, she observed Inoue Keiko from the corner of her eye.

‘If I hadn’t already confirmed she’s a Reincarnator, I would never have guessed she could be one. Logically, a Reincarnator who has experienced the tempering of the Reincarnation Space should have a somewhat firmer disposition. Seems like a newbie?’

Various thoughts flickered through Tsukiyomi Ruri’s mind.

“Tsukiyomi-san, did your mother make that lunch? Let me have a bite,” said the naturally forward Mizuhashi Yuzuki, immediately reaching over and stealing a piece of meat from Tsukiyomi Ruri’s lunch.

Tsukiyomi Ruri frowned and directly snatched a sausage back from Mizuhashi Yuzuki’s lunch. She then replied, “It’s from the supermarket.”

“It’s been a while since I had a supermarket bento. May I try a bite to see how it tastes?” Izumi Shirayuki, sitting beside Tsukiyomi Ruri, said with a smile. Her voice was like a gentle spring breeze.

Tsukiyomi Ruri had no objections.

“Inoue-san, would you like to try some too?” Tsukiyomi Ruri proactively offered.

Currently, this Reincarnator was the only one she had any real interest in, so she naturally took the initiative to communicate. Interaction was the only way to gain anything.

Inoue Keiko hadn’t expected Tsukiyomi Ruri to address her and immediately tensed up, stammering, “Tsukiyo… Tsukiyomi-san.”

Looking at the nervous Inoue Keiko, Tsukiyomi Ruri tried to put on a friendly smile to ease the awkwardness. But after moving her mouth slightly, she ultimately couldn’t manage it.

There was no helping it. In her past life, she had always been a solitary fighter in the Reincarnation Space, accustomed to coldness. Over time, she had forgotten how to even show a smile.

Fortunately, this didn’t hinder communication.

The four girls chatted idly, and inevitably, the conversation turned toward the matter of the floating desks and chairs at school the previous night.

“You all came to the school last night?” Inoue Keiko asked in surprise.
